This place was super cute and the location was perfect. On the main drag and about 5 minutes from the historic downtown where there are plenty of shops and places to eat and drink. The service at the front desk from all three people were amazing. Very friendly and great recommendations to shop and eat. We were on our way back from Denver to Telluride and looking for a place to stay for a night. Salida Inn was in our price range so we decided to check it out. It is super close to the road, so you do hear a little traffic, but so were all the other hotels in the area. Regarding the room, it was a nice size, and I appreciate that there was no carpet since I have allergies. When we checked in, the guy at the front desk was very nice, and made a point that we had a good room. I would definitely stay there again. read more

Ok the internet makes it seem all the rooms have been renovated and I appreciate the effort...However.... 1) Fireplaces is taped off with garbage bag 2) The couch looks as if it's been around since 1970 3) Outlets are hard to find and not updated to accommodate charging electronic devices (bring a cube) 4) I HOPE we didn't bring home or were we exposed to bedbugs (didn't see them but it felt icky) 5) private patio is like 2 ft deep by 6 ft long and not anything you would want 6) each room is like a private little cottage which is cool but still needs updating 7)quiet nights sleep so I appreciated that In the end my husband gave it 3 I give it two. I feel like we should have been told the fireplace was taped off, there's no maid service until you leave, and that not all rooms have been renovated. read more

5 stars because of the price. I'm sure the Broadmoor is better but not for price. ;) The room was clean and comfortable. I liked the offer of different pillow types and all the amenities were there. (Took awhile to find the shampoo-look on the windowsill). My favorite aspect was by far the upper deck! It's on the right (facing the building) and up the stairs. Great spot to see the sunset, read a book, have a beer. We didn't try the hot tub or pool but the water looked inviting. Only issues are minor traffic noise and unswept front. We enjoyed this place so much we booked and came twice in 2 weeks in July and August. We had our first room downstairs and second visit upstairs. Both rooms were very nice with great amenities and clean large spaces. The pillows are amazing. I almost bought one! The continental breakfast was quite good and they have their own roast of delicious coffee in the lobby in the mornings! I was surprised at how yummy it was. The value for the pool and hot tub and room size is awesome! Staff was also wonderful with extra towels and toilet needs for both 2 night stays. Even though it's a little out from downtown we were able to walk to the aquatic center, mini golf, and a couple of restaurants as well. We will be back here for sure! read more

We had a girls trip scheduled and arrived in Salida, CO July 20th of 2023. We found online this great motor lodge that also had very cute cabins. We booked a 2 Queen Bed Deluxe Suite. We were pleasantly surprised with the room. Nicely decorated, very clean and really big bathroom. Nice continental breakfast was out nice and early the next morning; and the host was wonderful. Nice pool and hot tub too! Truly there wasn't anything lacking. Pet friendly as well. We loved staying here and we know this will be where we stay when we come to Salida, CO. Nice comfortable room. I stayed in a suite and it was very spacious and well maintained. The office is not open 24 hours so if you have an emergency like getting locked out it may be a problem. When I made reservations at Monarch I asked about a few hotels and received an exact description of this place so there were no surprises. It's run-down outside, but the rooms are nice. Don't get the cheapest room. Upgrade a little. If you're expecting a highway hotel in a tourist town that's a little overpriced but they have beds, showers, toilets, and pillows, you'll be pleasantly surprised! If you're expecting a day spa at the ritz where you can act like a Karen/Kevin and get good results, this probably isn't even the right town for you at all. read more

This is a cute little motel, that seemed very clean and well taken care of. The location was good and the pool wasn't available but they gave us an alternative hotel to go to if we wanted to swim. My only complaint is when we got back from the Hot Springs in Mt. Princeton, the toilet would not flush correctly and it was the first time we used it since being in the room. When we checked in the staff was very friendly, and they told us to text if we had any problems before 10pm, and we did with no response. We also called three different numbers associated with the hotel and no one answered until the next morning and said maintenance would be right over. (We had our do not disturb sign up, or they would've fixed it right away in the morning.) It was a little inconvenient to have to go down the road for a bathroom, but other than that, the stay was great for the price. read more

We had a great time at this cute little inn. I swear they have really great coffee in the morning that is found locally. We had a corner suite that had two full beds and a Murphy bed. We were skiing and snowboarding up the mountain and this was a great place to rest our heads. There is a hot tub that is still in use even during CoVID... you just have to place a reservation. This place is very clean , updated and fresh sheets. Only complaint was that The mattress is a bit hard, pillows a bit stiff. However, the price was very affordable for one night. We spent a night in a short get away this past weekend. We had a pleasant stay. From what a local told us, this motel and Amigo Motor Lodge are the top 2 in the area. The rooms were very clean and the bed was pretty comfortable. We were put in room 209 - King bed. (their last available room that night). Room comes with the basics: Keurig coffee maker, mini fridge and microwave. It is centrally located on the Main street in Salida, close to restaurants and bars. The motel has been recently renovated, I think that last part they need to work on is the facade. Clean, friendly staff, good location and price. Quite rooms. I recommend this place but be sure to make reservations. Some weekends, particularly during ski season and spring break, are super busy. read more

We totally understand this establishment is pet friendly but there has been a dog barking for multiple hours non stop and the "General Manager" won't do anything about it. A guest can pay over $200 a night for a room only to not be able to sleep because of a barking dog and quiet hours aren't until 10pm!?!? Nice place to stay in Salida. It is an older motel that is well maintained, clean, and updated. It is very cool place. It's a 50's motel that is up to date. I loved it. The beds are very comfortable and new. The bedding was really pretty and new as well. The bathroom was redone with very nice tile work. We really enjoyed the selections available on the breakfast bar. Lots of fresh fruit, cereals, hard boiled eggs (that didn't taste like they came from a food service), yogurt, breads, a good coffee! We didn't use the pool or hot tub but they looked good too. The staff are great folks. They are friendly and very accommodating. They are a lot of fun. Thanks for such a fun visit!! read more

I would not recommend staying at the Salida Inn & Monarch Suites. Our check in time was delayed 1.5 hours without a courtesy call. The towels were a dingy white-- not clean and definitely need to be replaced. We requested a do not disturb sign so our room wouldn't be cleaned during our visit that was never delivered. There were also employees drinking on site outside of our hotel room entrance which seemed odd. I believe there are better hotel options in Salida and will be pursing those on our next visit. read more

I have been a returning guest throughout the years as we stay here often when skiing at monarch. The rooms are exceptionally clean cozy and comfy and the accommodations can not be beat! Great place to stay and enjoy all things Salida. I always recommend this hotel to my friends and family as this hotel is always my first choice. I had some hesitations when I drove up to the hotel (it's nothing spectacular on the outside), but don't judge a book by its cover. My room was clean and remodeled, complete with a nice TV, fridge, and microwave. Would absolutely recommend and would absolutely stay again if I'm ever back in Salida. Note: Not sure if this is always the case, but housekeeping gets started relatively early (think: 8AM.) just make sure to put your Do Not Disturb sign on the door if you're planning on sleeping in. read more

I feel compelled to let you know about our recent stay at the Monarch Inn. For several years, whenever we visited Salida, we have been staying at the Monarch. It has always been a warm, comfortable, welcoming stay. This year it was not. I thought it odd when I made my reservation that they had no record of my previous visits. Nonetheless, they booked the room at a reasonable rate. So, we checked in and found the following: * The guest chair in the room was very low to the ground and it was difficult to get in and out of. * The toilet paper roll in the bathroom was less than half full and it ran out. There was not another roll available. * We used Kleenex as toilet paper when the roll ran out. Well, the Kleenex was not full either and it ran out as well. Lucky we had some of our own that we were able to use. * The shower curtain was filthy. * The shower head was broken and could not be adjusted. We were very disappointed in our stay and cannot ever come back again. Nor will we ever recommend this hotel to friends and will tell them to stay away. So sad that it has gotten so bad. read more

The hotel is old but the rooms and lobby were recently updated. I had no cell service and had to use wifi to make calls, but that isn't the hotel's fault. the room was quiet and the bed very comfortable. Overall was a nice hotel. Very affordable, with nice rooms and good internet. Generally stay was positive, and was good for a night. The TV was nice, had all the channels needed and was high def. Room was pretty clean and was nice, adequately stocked and ready for a night's stay. However, some small problems did exist. The pool was dirty with floating and submerged debris, and hadn't appeared to be maintained in a while. The hot tub was also dirty, smelled odd, and didn't work properly. The jets were controlled by a broken switch and the water was lukewarm at best. I also found a large ant in the bathroom and nearly stepped on a dead yellowjacket. The front desk staff wasn't quite as attentive as other hotels have been, but overall not terrible. Would stay again if in the area. read more

I'm not sure you can find a better deal on lodging in the Monarch area. It doesn't look fancy from the outside ... the sign looks like it's been there since the '70s ... but don't judge a book by its cover. The rooms are very comfortable, updated, and decorated well. We stayed in a spacious two-bed suite. It had a small living area and the loveseat folded out into a one-person sleeper, so my boys were thrilled that they each had their own bed. The beds were all comfortable (including the sleeper) and there were a variety of pillows -- some soft, some more firm -- so you could find just the one you wanted. The room we stayed in also had a mini-fridge, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker. There was a desk and high-speed internet, so I was able to get some work done too. Breakfast was included too ... pastries, bread, waffles, fresh fruit, yogurt, good coffee, and flavored creamers. Hotel is a very short drive (just a few minutes) to the center of Salida with lots of restaurants and shops. This will definitely be our first choice next time we come to the area. read more

I called several weeks ago for a reservation and made it clear that my traveling companion and I have a ground level room as she is handicapped. The person with whom I spoke told me that a room on the ground level would be reserved and sent a confirmation e-mail. When I arrived to check in the male at the desk informed me " I can not guarantee A downstairs room". When I told him I had a confirmation of the reservation via e-mail he replied " the previous owners commitments can not be accepted " and again said " I can not guarantee a downstairs room" after further discussion he again repeated the same phrase at which time I left without obtaining a room. I was left to attempt to book another 3 night stay with a different hotel. In a small mountain town On a Friday night that was going to be a challenge . My recommendation is steer clear of this hotel ! read more

The outside of the building looks a little dated, but don't let that deter you. The rooms have all been updated and are very nice. New beds, new tiled showers and bathrooms, etc. The room included a Keurig and mini fridge which is always nice. Plenty of space in the rooms and very well updated. We were very impressed. They even had 2 different kinds of pillows and explained both of them. Nice touch! The staff was also very friendly. We would definitely stay here again when in Salida.
