From the moment I walked in I was greeted with AMAZING service from Alicia. She was very thorough on all of the offerings they have. I am a person that loves to sleep with a fan. She said that they offer fans to the guests and quickly grabbed a box fan for me. She even offered to carry it to my room for me since I had a dog with me. They are SOOOO dog friendly and she gave some lovin's to my dog right away and offered some treats. Bed is comfortable and toiletries are great. The dispensable kind so you don't have to worry about little bottles everywhere. I would stay here again 100% and I haven't even gotten to sleep yet. I'm sure the rest of my stay will be great!! This is a sort of modest motel, the rooms are kind of small, but they are newly remodeled, perfectly clean. It's a family run establishment, it seems all members participate, so it feels like a good place to spend your money. During our stay, we had the pleasure of watching a new peregrine falcon family in a nest just across the road near baseball fields where little leaguers played. The complimentary bikes are what will assure our return. They're used, but highly functional, and it makes getting to downtown Salida a breeze. Coffee in the mornings is from a local roaster, and delicious. The breakfast snacks also a nice touch. Overall a great experience in a really nice town. read more

We stayed in a 2-Queen room. It's right by the road, but very very quiet. Bed was very comfortable, and with weather dropping into 40s last night, you can open the windows and fall to sleep with a cool mountain breeze, no need for AC. If you have a kid who elopes/wanders, or are traveling alone, you may want to ask for a second floor room. The only locks are deadbolts, and the doors are very close to the road. The bathroom fan is very loud - and there's only one switch. Other than those very - very - minor issues, we really found the room quite comfortable and I would definitely stay here for a few days to explore Salida and vicinity. read more

I have nothing but good things to share about the staff of the Woodland Motel! I found them to be extremely accommodating, kind, and, professional. I truly have not dealt with more empathetic and kind-hearted folks than the folks working here! From the front desk to management, rest assured that they will take care of you. They are very easy to work with (even across different time zones), which is not something you encounter with most hotels these days. Shoutout to Ben for being an amazing example of world-class customer service! He was such a delight to work with! If we didn't live on the East Coast I would want to be friends with him! This guys needs a raise, a promotion, or both, he seriously deserves it. I hope that everyone considering staying here jumps at the opportunity! If you don't, you're missing out. Decent small hotel on a fairly quiet street away from all the major chain hotels on Highway 50. Had a nice room with an efficiency but didn't need the kitchen. Easy 1/2 mile walk to downtown. Front desk people were nice. The shower was hot but a little on the small side. No air conditioning in room 19 so beware hot weather. read more

Would have rated it a 3-4 stars despite being directly across the street from a trailer park. But, when it became time to shower on the morning the facilities we're unsatisfactory. My 78-year-old mother was unable to shower. The handheld shower malfunctioned. I was able to shower after much persistence with the shower spraying completely horizontal. I explained what had happened to the young man John at the front desk. I suggested that he could make it right by offering a small discount on our room. Immediately he adopted a combative attitude before I was even done explaining our situation. It is not unreasonable to assume that one can shower when paying $130 for a one night stay Very poor customer service. This place is a hidden gem. Not too far from downtown, walkable, yet away from the madness. We needed a last minute place for a Fourth of July weekend and got the last room in a community that was just about void of vacancies. Turned out to be our good fortune. The view of the town's fireworks was incredible. Not only did we have front row seating the owner provided us with chairs, soft drinks, and delightful snacks. My friend and I were traveling with a Great Pyrenees, so we needed a dog-friendly motel for our stay in Salida. I found the Woodland Motel while searching on Travelocity and am so glad I did. The staff is amazingly friendly and helpful and they make certain that all of their guests, including the furry ones, feel welcome. It's a small motel owned by the same couple for more than 30 years, creating a place that is known for its hospitality. Their basic rooms are simple but clean and comfortable. They provide dog beds for the rooms, upon request. They also offer dog treats in the office. Those who might be staying longer or with a family should be pleased to know that the motel offers suites with both extra bedrooms and/or small kitchens. While we didn't do this for our one-night stay, it's good to know that it's an option. Wifi is free for those guests who need it. While it isn't fancy, it makes up for that with its charm. I'm sure I'll be back the next time I'm in Salida. It's nice having the option to stay at a non-corporate, more personable motel. I would recommend it to anyone but especially those traveling with pets. read more

The nicest little motel I have ever stayed in while in Colorado. It is family owned, and their respect and care for keeping the rooms tip top really shows. I stayed in the large unit that had a fully stocked regular kitchen! Even had a wine bottle opener! Very nice, comfortable Queen bed. All this for a very reasonable $93 bucks! I loved staying at the Woodland Motel. I drove up from Breckenridge to Kayak the Arkansas River, and Theresa at Rocky Mountain Outdoor Center, where I was arranging my kayak trip, recommended the Woodland Motel to me. I could not have been happier. The price was super reasonable, the room was clean and nice, the water was very hot, there were plenty of towels, the bed was comfortable and the pillows were soft... but what makes this hotel really special is the ownership. The owners are on site, and are truly terrific. Even though my kayak trip, ended 2 hours after checkout, Linda let me come back and take a shower in my room before driving to the airport. She also called me, before I got too far away, to let me know that I had left my phone charger and a t-shirt in the room. She even offered to mail them to me, but I went back to get them, since I had plenty of time to catch my flight. If I am ever back in Salida, I won't even bother to check availability at other hotels. I will call the Woodland Motel to book a room. Thank you Linda, for making my stay so enjoyable. read more

Formerly a Salida favorite. But seems to be under new management who's nickel and dime happy and not very pretty friendly and prices are 20% higher than advertised online. They charged an extra $20 for "excessive pet hair that wasn't easily cleaned with a lint brush". I've stayed here plenty of times before with two dogs, one of which was a short hair who's hair can be hard to get out of bed spreads, but without charge. We now have only one long haired dog who's hair is easy to spot and clean, and we made sure there was no excessive hair. But they saw a large dog and took advantage of an opportunity to nickel and dime someone. Also, the hotel is showing its age. Road noise is excessive and down stairs units hear everything going on upstairs. A few years ago this was our go to place to stay in Salida. But we'll be looking elsewhere from now on. read more

Stay here whenever we are in Salida. Location, location location. Easy access to downtown restaurants, crakling Wifi and clean. Beds are fine as are room amenities. Ice machine a bit of a hike but what can you do. Loses two stars for the bath whose fan sounds like you are on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier AND YOU CAN'T TURN IT OFF! Your choice, shower, brush teeth, use toilet in the dark (and blessed silence) or get blasted by that infernal noise. You can even hear the bath/fan from the adjacent room when your neighbors use it. Only motel I've stayed at that had this issue. Two way switch or low sone fan would buy two more stars from us. We have learned to pack a camp lantern and nightlite when we know the Woodland is on the agenda but that becomes a bit too much after a while. Sigh. Soooo close yet soooo far. read more

We stay here every time we come to Salida, which is frequently. It's quiet, clean and cozy. The rooms are nicely updated and some have full on kitchens with stove, refrigerator, and microwave. They're dog friendly and theres a great park and river walk across the road to take your pups. Owners are super nice. Not sure if we would come through Salida as often if we couldnt stay at the Woodland. read more

This place is clean and tidy. Towels frayed and no heat in the bathroom but the bed and linens were comfortable. The Host at check-in not was not very personable but pleasant at check out. Worth the money but unless you are young not a close walk to town. They have spent a lot of money on the landscape but an interior designer could do wonders updating the interiors. I'm in the design industry so I know I'm more particular about aesthetics than most. The neighborhood is quiet and simple. I slept very well my night there and so did my dog. I covered the bed with a beach towel and chair with my robe so I wouldn't get a charge for dog hair. I never like hotels with keyed locks, since security is more difficult. The key was not marked with 'do not duplicate', an electronic lock system would be a great upgrade to this establishment. Parking was close and convenient. if you are bored there are plenty of posted lengthy notices for reading beyond the Bible in the nightstand. TV was fine and never used the internet to comment about. I love staying at the woodland motel and I've never had an unpleasant experience. However, this trip I called to reserve a room for 10 days. When I arrived, they only had me scheduled for one day and I had to check out because they were booked the next day. HUGE INCONVENIENCE!!! The gentleman clerk said I should have checked my email confirmation. He was right, but I didn't feel any better. We can't recommend this 1970's era motel. While it was clean, the heater didn't work, despite two attempts to fix it by the manager. The "couch" was so high and deep you couldn't sit on it. The river was a city block away. Our view was of a run down mobile home park. I had booked through their website which we felt misrepresented their setting. They don't honor AAA for a one night stay. read more
