If you need your Bike fixed, especially an older one, Brown's is above all! I took my '83 Harley in for a few issues. Through professional care and consistent updates from the mechanic Jake and Brown's, I got my bike fixed and running great. And they saved me about $600 as well!! I must repeat that Browns kept me up to date, as in when the work was started, every quote for any repair they found, and fixed items instead of significant repair or replacing needs. This was simply done on a good, old fashioned hand shake. Jake, the mechanic assigned to my bike, was beyond professional. I expect whoever works on your "pride and joy" will give you the same attention. This is my second experience with Browns. 100% the same, after ten years. Best in DFW!! read more

If there was an option for 0 or negative stars I would. This place should not be in business with the way they treat customers and their lack of knowledge of motorcycles. I brought my bike in last year asking them to diagnose the problems it was having and give me an estimate for repair. They were not able to get to it for 5 days and when they did, they called me to tell me they couldn't work with the tuner I had on the bike even though it's a tuner they say they sell regularly and told me they could work with it when I originally called. I told them not to do anything until I brought them the stock ECM unit. I brought it in just before closing and they said they would get to it the next morning. I received a call about 30 minutes after they opened telling me they had diagnosed the problem and the estimate was around $900 to fix with parts and labor. I informed the mechanic that I couldn't afford that right now and would have to come pick up the bike, but would bring it back to them when I could. When I arrived, I was presented with a bill for 3 hours of labor totaling $250. The explanation was that the mechanic spent nearly 6 hours trying to work with my ECM and they were being generous by only charging for 3 hours. I reminded them that as soon as I was informed of their inability to work with it, I told them to stop and I would bring in the stock unit, and that I had mentioned I still had the stock unit available when I dropped off the bike just in case there was any problem with it. The owner said I could come back the next day when the mechanic was there and we would all figure it out. When I came back, the mechanic claimed that I never told him to stop working on it. I asked him and the owner when I had ever authorized any repairs that should result in labor charges. The response was that by dropping off the stock ECM I had authorized them to do the work. Since that made no sense at all, I asked how long had been spent specifically after I gave them the ECM and I was told close to two hours. (I put the aftermarket unit in and loaded the maps myself in 45 minutes in my garage.) The owner said he would not release my bike, the cams I had left to be installed, or my tuner until I paid the full amount in cash. I tried my hardest to be reasonable and work out a compromise, but they were unwilling to admit any fault or incompetence on their part and blamed on me, the tuner or an uncommon problem with the bike. I ended up paying the money because I didn't trust them to have my bike for any more time than they already had. I took it to another mechanic who diagnosed the problem in 30 minutes and told me it was a common problem with that make, year and model and referred me to the Harley dealership since Harley has been known to cover that specific issue due to it's common occurrence. I paid the mechanic $100 even though he said I didn't have to and Harley covered the repairs which were nothing at all like what Brown's told me needed to be done. I would stay far away from this place as they clearly can't be trusted to be honest in their dealings or for their knowledge of bikes. read more

Brown's is my go-to shop for work on my beautiful '65 Panhead. To date they have rebuilt the heads, done electrical work, maintenance, and generally kept the old girl running despite all of my abuse. Today I called them for help since it wouldn't start and David talked me through some diagnostics over the phone. With his help we got it to fire right up and at no charge to me. This, along with the times they have picked up the bike from my house and/or rescued me from the side of the road, proves to me that they are in it for a long term relationship with their customers. Brown's fills a much needed niche here in the DFW Harley world. Especially if one is looking for parts for older models, like my 1982 FXRS, that the dealers call "Obsolete, no longer produced" parts." David Brown, the now sole owner, is very generous with his vast knowledge of all things Harley Davidson, inparticularly the older models . He is also a damn good mechanic, doing a good job on what is needed, no more/no less. After his brother passed away this year he has had his hands full filling that void left in the front retail area and still working on bikes in the shop area . He is succeeding and the shop is getting better everyday. I have been doing a "nuts & bolts", to stainless, restoration on my shovelhead, that I bought new, including a complete new S&S motor this summer. I have been working into being more of a wrench myself, since I've had to fix/redo everything that Larry Stice, "red eye" has done, including the rear brake job after the wheel disk locked up after less than a 100 miles. He has lost his passion. Jake, is a new apprentice that is sharp and learning very quickly. He will be another good mechanic. I would let him work on anything of mine. They have worked on many of my husband's bikes and I always feel better after his bike has been serviced at Brown's. Larry at Browns rebuilt my carburetor and tuned, after 80 miles with 10 stops, noticed a trace of fuel under the carb, opened the bowl, noticed the rubber O-ring half way in the bowl along with a light brown goop, goop also in the jet, cleaned the best i could for "on the street" and scoot would run a bit better however, would not above 50, 55, called browns with the carb issue ( Have Pictures) and they said "bring it by and we will take a look" (My mistake) i had my son delivery the scoot with instructions to wait there, Owner starts the engine and proceeds to rev limit several times and said, " runs good for me" son gets sent away with :" we will get to it when we can" FLAG goes up, when called, the owner said "we are NOT responsible for carb" because you worked on it, (broke down 80 miles from home) and now your coil is broken, that will be 4 to $500.00 to fix, I go pick it up and am treated like shit because i wont pay another 4 to $500 to fix. DANGER, bring lube because you will have sex done to you at this establishment !!! read more
