Anthony Armstrong is such a man --- a Michelangelo with a wrench, if you will. There are very few mechanics in Dallas --- or Texas --- that have Anthony's level of experience when it comes to restoring Italian motor scooters. Engine rebuilds are Anthony's specialty, especially when it comes to the two-stroke motor found in the Lambretta. He's passionate about them and it shows in his work. He's also meticulous, doesn't take short cuts, and he'll return your engine cleaner than anything that regularly consumes gas and oil has a right to be. Anthony will explain what he's doing, take pictures during the process for your review, and will send you an itemized bill of his work (I haven't complained about his prices yet.) Depending on how sick your scooter is, Anthony will occasionally make house calls to diagnose the problem. However, if it's a weird electrical problem or if your motor is on the verge of potential failure, you'll have to haul your bike to Anthony's garage for surgery. The best thing about Anthony is he stands by his work. He cares about his reputation and if something isn't right with your bike after it's spent some time in his garage, Anthony will make it right. One word of warning: Anthony does not work on new scooters --- new meaning any scooter that doesn't shift manually. There are plenty of places in Dallas to get a new scooter serviced. But if you've got a 1957 Lambretta LD --- a complicated bike that no motorcycle mechanic in his right mind would touch --- Anthony is your guy.

Big D has a fine collection of different Norton, Triumph and other assorted bikes from the late-60s to the early-80s in immaculate restored condition. For the uninitiated, there is a slight learning curve involved in transitioning from a modern electric ignition bike with standardized shifting to a classic euro bike. First, there's no electric start. You'll be getting vigorously acquainted with a kickstarter on most of the models. Second, there is a variety of shift patterns, some are left side, some are right side, some are 1d5u, while others are 1u5d. Best of luck remembering. The last thing to remember about riding around on a loud, fast cafe racer from England is that the bikes of yesteryear shake. And how. It is not uncommon to arrive at a destination to find out your taillight is barely hanging on by the last thread of only one screw as it has backed out and is now trying to leave you. This is part of the allure of fun old bikes. You get to tinker. And who better to ask how to trick out your cafe racer than the staff of Big D. These guys regularly swing down to the Saltflats and have run streamliners and set records. They have bikes in fully restored conditioned, and in rolling frames. If you've got questions, they've got answers when it comes to the classics. This is a must-stop on a Saturday ride around the Metroplex.

I asked for a better price or discount and was told that the best they could do was to match the Polaris website. I told them that I had been given a discount in the past since I was shopping local and was a loyal customer. I was told they don't do that anymore. I asked for a manager and was told that there was no manager at the business, this was Thursday afternoon...a regular work day in the middle of the day, and when I questioned where the managers were I was told they were off. I requested that the employee call a manager and he agreed but then walked off so that there would be no chance I could speak to them. Later talked to a manager and he stated this was not a store for me. I agree. I will spend my $ elsewhere.

Took him probably less than an hour. Not only that, he spent some time helping me learn how to use the center stand and teaching me proper motorcycle maintenance for various parts of the motorcycle. Highly recommend him if you have a Japanese bike (as he only works on those).
