I was cycling yesterday and I happened upon Manchester Square. Interesting little strip mall in the city. Stopped for a beer and a bite. Pretty decent patio seating, the place was packed. Might've been from adjacent businesses as well. I remember seeing sidewalk chalk designating which area was for which business. Again its a neat little part of the city. You pay upfront, instead of after. They have a massive selection for craft beers but a smaller food menu. I got a grilled cheese sanwiche, nachos as a side with salsa and a watermelon beer. I forget the full name. They had some more on the menu like beef jerky and hot dogs. Prices were decent, mine came to $20 with the tip. I found the size was smaller but I was stuffed. Come for the beer, stay for the murals! I love the art in this place! The murals have such stories and it is really intriguing. Along with seats from Coliseum. Loved the puns to head upstairs to the 'Upper Bowl'. We hit this bar up because of the Wyrd Beer Stamp brewery tour. But this brewery bar is in a beautiful new building area, when we pulled up jazz music was playing on outdoor speakers and lights with fire ambient lighting were on. Very mood setting. Plenty of seating here and the coffee beer was delicious. We also had the sour Cherry and it was feeling and refreshing. read more

We hosted an event at Arcadia recently and had a great time. They have a large upstairs area with its own bar which is perfect for groups up to about 50 people. Even better, they don't charge a facility fee, just the cost of the beer. Plus you can bring in your own food. The beer was great, the room looked good, and the event was a big success. I would definitely recommend it! read more

Ugh! I'm super sad to be updating my glowing review of Arcadia but they've made a number of changes in the past year and much of what I wrote previously is no longer true. I defended Arcadia against angry vegans who didn't like that they started serving "real" hotdogs. It was a strange business decision if they still wanted to cater to the veg crowd, but that's their decision to make. At the time their pizza was still strictly vegetarian (and delicious!). However, on my latest visit I was disappointed to find that it no longer is. Looking at the menu, the pizza selection for vegetarians is still decent. Among their new meat pizzas, they have three veg options that can all be made vegan upon request. Unfortunately the quality has suffered greatly. The pizzas we did order weren't nearly as good as they were in the past. They also no longer have vegan meat on any of their pizzas which means that my favourite veggie donair pizza is gone. I've directed countless people to Arcadia for that pizza alone. They still have a great selection of beers and the atmosphere is still hip AF. Come here if you want a fun place to hang out and decent pizza. Stay away if you're looking for outstanding vegetarian/vegan food because other Edmonton restaurants have much better options now. read more

Smallish venue, but the seating is cozy and well laid out. Fun atmosphere, bit of a counter-culture feel. Small menu, but wonderfully varied, so, if you're not opposed to faux-meat, there's likely something to fit what you're craving. I haven't tried anything here that I didn't like, which I feel is very impressive. Everything I've tried so far (there's only a couple of things left to try and I'm pretty sure they won't disappoint) has been bang-on perfect. Friendly and helpful staff, will help with recommendations and good service. Some fun events here... went to a mid-week karaoke night on the Tuesday before last. Would have loved to have seen more people out for it so that it could possibly become a regular thing. We were also able to take advantage of the $2 off food items Tuesday deal... honestly, I should be going every Tuesday, last week it definitely felt like I was missing out on something when I didn't go. I live in deep Mill Woods, and I have no other reason to be in the area on a Tuesday night, but it's certainly worth the trip. If I could have three wishes, it would be for a south side location ('cause I'm selfish like dat), with a patio (ok, not as big a deal as the other two), where I could take my three teen kids (like before 9pm? as some other pubs allow). I should start by saying, we went at 4:30 on the holiday Friday. The bar had just opened and was pretty quiet. I can definitely see myself rating Arcadia a 5 star if I had gone during a special event or later in the evening. The vibe is cool and laid back but the space felt a little bare not filled with people. I love, loved the beer selection. Lots of different craft beers (on tap & bottle) from around Alberta. Highlights were Troubled Monk Pesky Pig (Red Deer), Bench Creek White Raven IPA (Edson), Blindman #6 Kettle Sour (Lacombe). Popcorn was delicious and unlimited. We were asked regularly if we wanted a refill. :) We also had the Clash City Chips which were hot and crispy and the Donair pizza which was super yummy. The veggie donair 'meat' fooled me. I think Arcadia is a nice change from the normal live music venue. It is off the main drag, away from the hustle bustle but still close enough to walk if you want to from downtown. The stage is small and the venue is small, so it has a very intimate feel. There is a bar at the back and they serve quality drinks and beer. I recently tried a ginger mead on tap with a shot of gin and was quite happily suprised at how good it was, as it was a suggestion by the bartender. read more

I've been here twice now. I wish it was closer to home, but I'll adjust. They have an interesting menu, but as of yet I've only tried the vegan pizza (uses daiya instead of cheese). I'm vegan and while I'm not a big fan of faux products, particularly the faux cheeses, this pizza was quite good and I look forward to trying their other selections. Excellent selection of beers and the $8 for all-you-can-eat popcorn is awesome if you've got the munchies. The decor is eclectic, which might be a fancy of saying there isn't much going style wise, lol. There is some live entertainment there, but I haven't been there during those times. read more

Arcadia is exactly what 124th Street needs and I'm excited that they've recently opened in the area! I went in with a group of 20 hungry vegans last weekend, and definitely wasn't disappointed. They have a small space and kitchen to work with, and I appreciated their ability to accommodate to us as well as another large party on a Saturday night! The aesthetic is simple- sleek furniture, and gorgeous graffiti on the wall. Between pals, I had the opportunity to try the chips and salsa, pizza, and the seitan ribs; the ribs being my favourite. They were aces, and a mealshare item to boot. As a vegan/vegetarian of 12ish years, kind of a cool alternative to the kind of pub food NORMALS eat, like wings or something! I would advise non vegans to also come check out the space. Such great stuff on tap, and the food is better than standard pub fare. WHO CAN RESIST UNLIMITED POPCORN, FOR EXAMPLE?! Their beer selection is top notch, and I love the idea of not having to check barnivore for everything. Their menu for food and drinks is a good size. Enough choices that you can get through a few things in a night, but not overwhelming. I also love how much they upthapunx and all the language used on their menus. OCCUPY PIZZA? YES PLEASE. I'LL EAT 99% OF IT. They also had a Festivus party over the holidays, and I hear rumour of other fun pop-culture related type nights which I love. I can see why this place receives 5 stars consistently. The food, the ambiance and the service were fantastic! My friends and I came here on a Wednesday evening around 7pm. We immediately were drawn to the graffiti like art on the wall. So beautiful! The space is small but open with table seating along both walls. We took a seat near the bar and were greeted by, Darren, who is the owner. He was very personable and you could tell he is passionate about his business. I kind of felt like I was coming to his place as a friend and hanging out. After giving us our menus, he asked if we would be partaking in the Parks and Recreation Trivia game that would be happening at 8pm but we did not since we didn't know much about the topic. I guess they offer trivia nights, live bands and other fun stuff through out the week. You can always check their website out to see what is happening. My friend is vegetarian and this is largely why we came here since everything is vegetarian/vegan. And a vegetarian/vegan meal made well is right up my alley. We ordered the Clash City Chips & Dips to share and wow they were absolutely delicious! The coconut oil drizzled on the potato chips with a little bit of salt was so yummy and the homemade ranch dressing was fabulous. My friends ordered the grilled cheese sandwich and the vegan donair and said that they were delicious too. I ordered the John Candy Canadian Coconut Bacon pizza and it didn't disappoint! It was topped with Sailin' On Coconut bacon (vegan), pineapple, peppers, mushrooms & arugula. The flavours were so wonderful with the hint of coconut, the pineapple and the 'coconut bacon' was a tropical party in my mouth. Even though there was no actual bacon, the Sailin' On Coconut bacon was pretty delicious and a great substitute. They also have a wide variety of local beers, wine and high balls which we did try and were good. Darren the owner is an extremely nice guy wanting to eat amazing vegan food while drinking a beer. Why can't you do that everywhere? Great wee spot on 124 Street. They regularly have trivia nights if you're into that kind of thing, usually themed, ie The Simpsons, or Harry Potter etc. It's worth checking out for live music, bands/acoustic acts play here at least once a week. The bar itself is nice and cosy and has a kind of cool urban look with graffiti art on the walls. The selection of booze is good, mainly Alberta sourced (beer is all Alberta produced), with Big Rig, Strathcona Spirits amongst others on offer. From what I can tell the food is really good, I had a Stephen Curry three pointer pizza (they all have fun themes). This was extremely tasty, the amount of curry was just right, you knew it was there, but not overpowering in the taste department. All in all, a good show! read more

One day while driving by, I saw the sign about them having local beer only. While that doesn't excite the hell out of me, I appreciate sentiment. Local is good, it's just that we do not have a lot of good local beer. The beer scene is on a big upswing in Alberta though and things are good enough that I can look at a list restricted to Alberta and easily find a couple beers that I'd be happy to try. It's got a nice vibe; the kind of the place you'd enjoy just hanging out in, not a place that you'd come to be seen. Arcadia is one of the best vegan bars in Edmonton! It is perfect for both vegans and non-vegans! The beer fridge is like the Sears Wishbook of Alberta beers. It's magnificent! You really get to know what this province has to offer beer-wise. It varies from Village (Calgary), Alleykat (Edmonton), and Ribstone Creek (Edgerton). Try the Old Man Winter! The menu is great in that it isn't too big, so you aren't overwhelmed with options. It is short and sweet. You can get anything from nachos to burgers to chicken & waffles! The quality of the food is always amazing and you DEFINITELY get your money's worth! There is dinner service in the evenings from Tuesdays until Saturdays, and brunch on Saturdays & Sundays! Awesome vegan restaurant and bar! Went there tonight with a few vegan friends, and had a great time. The graffiti art on the walls is really cool and original, and they have a stage there for bands/shows. For drinks we had the Ribstone Creek Lone Bison IPA, which was really good, and a cider, which was also great. We had the chicken & waffles with maple butter (delicious!), the ribs, and the pizza with the works. Everything tasted awesome! The owner (I think?), Darren, was really nice and accommodating, and our server was great too. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place. I've been here about 6 times now in the last few months. One thing I've noticed is that the owner is always there. Super friendly guy, and it's always nice for me to see the owner putting it work and taking pride in a place they put together. This place is the best. I'm a dedicated carnivore, but I've eaten here a few times and the food is very good. I'm normally the guy that eats the steak and leaves the sides for friends, so for them to have some dishes that I enjoyed is pretty amazing for me. I really dig the vibe here. Another restaurant that supports local beers. The tap list seems to rotate with Alberta's best beers so big ups to them for killing it there. There's a small TV behind the bar so if you want to watch the game saddle up at the bar and grab a few brews. The artwork is from local artists too, so that's a nice addition. read more

Arcadia could be the best little beer bar in the city. Not a vast tap selection like CRAFT, say - but extremely well-curated & 100% Alberta beer. Last time I went I had (a few glasses of) 88 Easy Bake Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake Stout. A mouthful both figuratively and literally. Also had the Town Square Mango Milkshake. The list changes frequently and there's rarely a dud. There tends to be a lively crowd of what appear to be regulars on the weekends, and they always have the Oilers game on the (1) TV. It's a fun ambiance and the graffiti murals add to that as well. They switched from vegetarian to omnivorous a few years ago, which I certainly don't mind. But plenty of veg options if that's your bag. (Pretty sure all of the pizzas are still vegetarian.) I've tried the hot dog and the Reuben fairly recently. Not going to blow any foodies away IMO, but good bang for the buck. (Especially the bottomless popcorn.) Service is always top notch, some of the best anywhere & the owner is a gem (check their insta feed of you don't believe me). Arcadia is a weird case of being prominent in their niche but somewhat a hidden gem as well. Great place to grab a beer with friends, for my money probably best in the 124 St area. read more

We went to Arcadia on Friday for dinner and drinks and had a great time. We had the nachos, the Che Gorditos, and the popcorn (free refills and multiple flavors), all of which were delicious. Being a veggie in Edmonton definitely limits your dinner options, and it's awesome to have a place with such a good (and reasonably priced) food selection. And, perhaps even more importantly, we could actually talk during our meal! That doesn't happen at many bars in Edmonton, since they seem to love their deafeningly loud music for some reason. OK, this is Yelp's best kept secret. Arcadia is an awesome vegan restaurant, but it's listed only under bars (Yelp, add a vegan tag!) Everything on the menu is 100% vegan and my dinner, a vegan bacon burger, was absolutely delicious. It was served with cole slaw, which I've never been a fan of, but this was equally delicious. I ordered an IPA thatwas on tap and it was great-I only wish I wasn't driving because I would have hadd another. I will go back there EVERY time I'm in Edmonton! read more
