In general I love this pub. This time it looses 2 stars because the service was terrrible. It took over 10 minutes for someone to come with menus ( on a Wednesday afternoon at 2 pm, the place wasn't busy at all. We almost got up and left. Then it took a while for the food to come out even though it appeared like we were the only ones eating. Then we had to go up and ask for the bill and pay because no one was visible. Not impressed at all. It is cute inside and was nicely decorated for Christmas. Food itself was fine. I had the beef dip. They were skimpier on the meat then previously. The fries and the dip were really tasty. My husband had the chicken sandwich It was tasty but the patty seemed a little small. We are not sure if we hit a bad afternoon but we will give it another shot sometime. read more

This pub has a great atmosphere, both inside and outside on the spacious patio. The servers and are quick and friendly! The portions are large and the quality of the food is really good. If out with a group, the nachos are worth ordering, as they are large and covered with toppings. My absolute favourite menu item is the French Onion Soup- it's so tasty that I'll even order it on a hot summer day! This is a great neighbourhood pub to visit for a beer and dinner. read more

Came for a beer or two and to socialize on a Friday afternoon. This place was packed at 230pm. Service was slow that's the only reason I didn't give a 5/5. We were greeted right away without an option of a menu for a drink. I asked for a menu and got one but then our server didn't return for quite a while. Same thing when we wanted a second round. It was pretty busy, but no one checked up on us or seemed to help our server out. We did see a few others working with her but not checking tables. We shared their most popular pizza it was pretty good. Would recommend their food! Prices are great. Atmosphere was great. I'd come back again. read more

A neighbourhood pub with extensive menus of drinks and food. This is an Irish pub with a lot of items you can expect like savoury pies, poutines, nachos, chicken strips, and various mains. There are some surprises as well, like the vegan bangers and mash. I had the chicken pot pie which was highly recommended. It was definitely one of the richest ones I have had in a while, full of large, tender chunks of chicken. We were really hungry so we also split an order of fries. Pro tip: the fries are great dipped in the pot pie gravy. Prices are average for a watering hole such as this. There are two patios out back, and lots of seating inside. Such an amazing little Irish pub. The food is good, basic Irish pub food. I had the poutine which was good, the fries could have been a little crispier and they could have used a little less gravy but all in all it was a good poutine. Love that they get their cheese from a local supplier (Cheese Factory). The Caesar was a basic Caesar and very tasty. What I love about this Caesar is the garnish, once again using beer cheese from the Cheese Factory. They have an awesome promo, every day between 11am and 2pm as long as you get a meal your kid eats free. My boy got the cheese pizza and this picky eater actually ate 3 slices, HUGE win. The server (forget her name) is amazing. When we were there she had about 5 tables and ran them like a boss. We never felt like we were waiting for anything. read more

My wife and I have been here previously and like the cozier neighbourhood feel of this pub relative to the more mainstream ones in Edmonton. On this occasion, I decided to have the limited time special of a lamb shank braised in rootbeer, served on mashed potatoes with lamb gravy. It was an interesting change, the nicely cooked, slightly sweet lamb was very tender and flavourful. I thought everything was quite good, though my personal preference would have been to cut a bit of the sweetness from the gravy and increase the savoury elements, but I'm sure many will have enjoy it as a change from the standard offering. Service was friendly as usual, and kids are welcome to join their parents until 8 pm. read more

3.5 stars. Decent pub food, good beer selection, good service, average surroundings. Duggan's Boundary is part of the Sherlock Holmes Edmonton pub family. Duggan's has many good qualities that make it a nice average local pub. I appreciate that as part of the Sherlock's family, they offer better than average beer selection, especially on tap. The food is also solid and reasonably priced. Wed. night 3 topping 12-inch pizza is a very good deal. I find the pizza is less greasy and doughy than in previous years. The seating is OK, although the more pub side seating to the left has very crowded stools for the size of the tables. The booths to the right are better but fill up quickly. I also don't care much for open mic night. At 7:30pm the "check check" and random chords start, and go on for a half hour. It's loud in a small space, and not great for chatting with friends. A-OK. It's a PUB! A glorious pub. We came for customer appreciation night. Lots of food... not sure how much was celiac friendly but my other half said it all tasted very good. Ham, potato salad, chocolate cake, Cesar salad. There were veggies & dip. Live music was darn good, and hourly draws. To my delight, they were serving off the menu as well, and I spotted Gluten friendly pizza crust on the menu. 10" is the size of Gluten friendly crust, and a regular wheat crust is 12"... Be aware there is a $3 up charge for GF. Spolumbos is their supplier of gluten friendly sausage, nice to see they thought about a safe supplier. I ordered the Irish Banger pizza and it was hot and tasty! Had leftovers that reheated well and were enjoyable the next day too. You can choose your own toppings if you prefer too. Ordered a red wine 6oz priced at $9 after I got over my initial shock, it was a very good wine!! Saints & Sinners Shiraz Cabernet was delicious. I don't usually expect to find decent wine at a pub, but I really appreciated it. The pub was packed, but we had reasonable service and a table in the corner. Nothing special. $24 Atmosphere :4 stars. They are truly a neighborhood pub. The age group in there was between 18-68. There seemed to be no reason to go there, but the warm cheer and the service were both great. If you want to experience a local pub feel, this would be a great place to check out. Favourite weekend breakfast joint! Breakfast is served until 4 pm. During my first visit, I had the breakfast burger; it was just okay. The egg in the burger was burnt on the bottom, so the brown bits weren't very appetizing. Probably better to have the eggs steamed like in an egg muffin sandwich. Today, my band mates and I had the traditional breakfast. Nonetheless, my pint of Granville Island washed it down pretty well. Generous servings for under $10! I go to Duggan's for lunch sometimes, or after work for a few drinks. I have only eaten there once (pizza bread...yum!), I've never checked it out at night, and I only go there alone, so I'm not the best to recommend it to folks who wanna know these types of things. I do, however, love the service and the Irish pub atmosphere, as well as its out-of-the-way location. I have not checked out the patio just yet either, but I do know they have one!! Duggan's is a staple for me (it's about a ten block walk from my house), although I'm only giving it 3 stars. I don't want to set your expectations too high. It's a pretty standard pub (and it's good at being a pretty standard pub). Things I love: - The food is usually shockingly good, and reasonably priced too. I warily ordered a veggie and hummus platter once, expecting it to be sparse and wilted (seriously - who orders a veggie platter at a bar?). Much to my surprise, a full tray of fresh. crispy veggies came out from the kitchen with a generous amount of absolutely delicious hummus and dip. The soft pretzels are also usually a go-to for me and are excellent about 90% of the time. - It's a good place to drink a beer. I love having a pint after a long day. The atmosphere is always cozy and inviting - no frills and nothing fancy, which is just what I like from a neighbourhood pub. - They feature live music quite often. - The patio out back is perfect on a sunny day - they adjustable umbrellas, so you can bake in the sun or enjoy some shade. Things I don't love: - Sometimes it smells gross. - Sometimes you sit down and wait half an hour for service, then walk out in frustration. - The food is almost always good but somehow, when it's not, it's awful (I have literally never had a mediocre meal). Devaney's Irish Pub is an awesome place to go for drinks, hang out with friends, and enjoy a night out! My friends and I have been coming here for a little over a year. It's in a great location, on the Faculte St. Jean campus of the UofA (just off of whyte ave). It is a small pub but a great atmosphere. There are always really interesting decorations on the walls and a nice little patio out back. They have lots of t.v.'s to watch any sporting event on and every Wednesday is open mic! Fun! I don't have a voice that carries very well, so it's nice to be able to go and have drinks somewhere and not have to shout just to chat at your neighbor. There is a large variety of food. They have an amazing steak and mushroom pot pie and their Devaney's Burger is mouthwatering! They used to have a really great spinach salad but, sadly, it is no longer on their menu. They also have great pizzas and nachos. In fact, I don't think I've ever been disappointed by anything I've ordered on the menu. The staff is very friendly and have even gotten to know some of our names and favorites! And the prices are very reasonable. Portion sizes are large and everyone leaves satisfied. I stopped in to Devaney's on Saturday night around 8pm to meet up with some friends who were already there. I'd heard of it in passing before, but I don't live in the area so never really thought about it. I was surprised that it was already so bumpin' that early! I have to say I didn't partake in much - I only had one beer (Granville Island on special for $4.75) and I didn't eat anything. All the food that went by looked yummy and I definitely want to go back for those nachos I saw at the table next to us. The crowd was pretty chill and everyone looked like they were having a good time. A lot of people seemed like regulars. Mixed crowd of 20-somethings to 50+. Hockey was on until about 9pm and then a guy (sorry, didn't catch his name) started singing with his acoustic guitar. His voice was actually pretty good, so it wasn't annoying like some entertainment at pubs sometimes. The whole feel of the place was like what so many other "hip" places try, and fail, to achieve. What a great little place! Slightly off the beaten path, and better for it! It's so warm and welcoming. There's always an interesting mixture of afternoon rub-a-dubs, students from the Faculte. I love to sit here and people watch over good pub grub and a pint. The boneless pork ribs are delicious and I don't understand why more pubs don't serve them. Great pub atmosphere near the Universite Francophone in east Edmonton. They regularly have live music mostly of the folk genre. Daily beer specials. Food is good but not great. Nachos, we had to look for the toppings unfortunately...at $14 I expect toppings dag nab it! Pot pies are good but they put a prebaked pastry on top. Waitresses are friendly. A good ole Irish pub in the French quarter. They have live music and dancing! Went in on a Saturday night for some drinks with friends a d was delighted by a lively live band! The waitresses were buzzing around and all was good. I highly recommend the beer cheese as an appy, it was really salty but quite popular at our table. We had to get 2 orders. They also had cups full of trivial pursuit cards at the table which were fun to do when the band was quiet enough for us to hear the questions being yelled across the table. I was originally going to head to the Sorrentino's cafe in Little Italy but it was too packed to watch the Italy-New Zealand game that Sunday morning.He had invited me more than once so I decided this time to take him up on his offer instead. It's a very local pub in the Bonnie Doon neighbourhood. They had their brekafast specials. I wasn't inclined to get any alcohol to drink so early in the morning. The cook was there watching the game with us. We waited actually until just before the halftime whistle to put him to work. He was a latin chef and we know how much they love their futbol. So I ordered just a basic breakfast with eggs, bacon and a sausage which was pretty good considering it was a pub. I liked the set up of this pub. Very clean and inviting. This was my 1st time here, we popped in after being at the Rocky Horror Picture Show at La Cite ( I'll get to that one after this) it was a Wednesday and much to our delight it was open stage night! We sat at the bar and our bartender was quick, friendly and knowledgeable about what they had to offer and gave us a couple of suggestions. They had a nice selection of British beers both on tap and in the bottle/can, which is awesome for me because I tend to prefer the ales, stouts and of course Guinness to most lagers. We didn't have anything to eat so I can't comment on the menu, but I would like to come back and see what sort of Irish fare they are offering up. The space looks like like it could be in Ireland, rustic and cozy, wooden tables and chairs, a small stage and if it wasn't meant to be.. I'm sorry, a nice little dance floor. It was quite busy when we 1st got there, possibly with friends and family members of the musical guests, all of which were super friendly to talk to, it definitely has a nice everybody knows your name kind of vibe. As for the entertainment, they were all great, very talented bunch of musicians we have in this city, I've always been a huge fan of live music, and the variety of genres they covered was a refreshing change from what you generally find elsewhere. It'd be interesting to see what happens there the rest of the week, if it's at all like Wednesdays, count me in! This reminds me of a little bar back in Ireland, I absolutely love it. Came here for food for the first time, been here before but just for drinks. It has a cool, relaxed atmosphere so definitely a great place to enjoy a glass of wine after work. The food was ordered and came in timely fashion which again made it very relaxed. As we were leaving they were setting up for karaoke so it's cool that they do stuff mid week. I would love this bar even more if the location was a little better but even at that I will be back for both food and drinks! read more
