A wide range of cocktails and non alcoholic beverages were served and the cocktails were good. Ahi tacos, roasted tri tip crostini, Beef Wellington and smoked salmon toast were served. The Ahi tacos and smoked salmon toast were the hits. The Beef Wellington and Tri Tip crostini were distanced by the seafood offerings. The main meal compromised a fresh salad in some sort of shell with dried apricot slivers, thinly sliced apples with a passion fruit vinaigrette that was delicious. The main course was string beans and carrots in a garlic butter sauce that accompanied the duo of jumbo shrimp in a scampi sauce and a generous fillet mignon au poivre with the garlic mashed potatoes. They somehow managed not to have the shrimp arrive on the plate overcooked and the fillet arrived at a medium temperature, still juicy and nothing tough. Everything arrived on the table at a warm temperature. The sweet tooth was satisfied with a variety of offerings: cheesecake, mango cake, mini fruit tarts and Creme Brulee. The Creme Brulee was the star of the show in the dessert lineup. Accompanied by coffee or tea and I was good. The coffee was no afterthought. Nothing was actually. I unfortunately failed to take a photo of any of this goodness, but you can rely on this caterer for your most momentous occasions. 4.5 stars

The first offering was the contemporary green salad. It consisted of Baby greens & romaine, dried apricots, sliced apples, cherry tomatoes, and passion fruit vinaigrette. The sliced apples were refreshing. I certainly polished off the plate due to the yummy passion fruit vinaigrette. Next was the main entree of the night, the big "bahooga," if you will. The Mediterranean chicken consisted of oven-roasted chicken breast in a spinach, tomato, lemon, white wine & butter sauce. I had filet mignon at Christ Cathedral before and it was a bit dry. This chicken was moist with a creamy white wine and butter sauce that went well with the texture of the rice that was cooked perfectly. It had an umami, savory flavor that complements well with the rice. Additionally, the same sauce highlighted the contrast of carrot texture, elevating this dish to a Michelin-star quality meal. The strawberry shortcake was good but a bit sweet. However, I would still give it 4.5/5 stars as it paired nicely with the decaffeinated coffee that was offered. This is probably the first time that my eyes deceived me, thinking this would be an ordinary culinary experience because the food offerings looked so simple. However, the taste of each dish has left me wanting more as it tantalized my palate. It would be a lie to say I didn't polish off every plate. My only critique: Please sharpen your knives. They were all dull. Half the table were elderly and couldn't cut the chicken. I, myself, a 36 year old male, resorted to tearing the chicken apart with the knife by pulling it apart as the knife couldn't do an incision. Scalpels at this point would be better.

Creative Cuisine was 1 of 3 of the catering companies that was approved for this venue. Since I'm the fatty in the relationship, the wifey put me in charge of putting together a custom menu and working with the caterers. I wanted to put together a menu that represented the both of us. I'm from Maryland and she's from San Francisco, so I wanted to do food that was from our regions of the US. Our major judging criteria was Maryland Blue Crab Cakes and San Francisco Style Cioppino. These guys nailed it. It was hard finding someone in California that can make a decent crab cake. Other places had too much breading/mayo or not enough seasoning. Their crab cakes were very light, sweet, and fluffy... probably one of the best crab cakes I've tasted. Perfect for a summer wedding by the ocean. The Cioppiono was also done very well. The broth wasn't too thick or tomato-y and it had high quality seafood. We went with Mussels, Clams, Halibut, and Scallops. Originally, we also had shrimp, but decided against it to lower costs and not overload our guests with too much shrimp (ie, shrimp cocktails). One of my concerns was how it was going to be put together. Marguerite assured me that the seafood would be steamed a head of time, portioned, and put together onsite. EXACTLY what I wanted to hear. The day of the wedding Marguerite and her team was already in place and working their magic. She really had everything under control and everything went smoothly. The bonus was that the original 7 oz ribeye steaks that I specified were MUCH bigger the day of. People literally had porterhouse steaks on their plates. They also threw in shrimp and lump crab meat in the Cioppino. The servers they had were clean cut and very professional. The bartenders were AWESOME. Jon Beck gave me great tips on how much booze to buy, what kind of mixers to bring, etc. Although I was expecting him to take tips, he was declining tips from my guests all night. (That really classed up the wedding, in my opinion). Overall, Creative Cuisine did a fantastic job. My only small complaint is that the final invoice was 2,500 more than the original estimate. Of course if they have to stay longer to clean up or something, I get that I need to pay overtime. However, I was told that the "menu was very complex". Shouldn't that have that been accounted for when I was given the estimate? I let it slide, since we got some extra freebies and the guests raved about how good the food and service was. A little about my credentials: I first got into cooking & food when I was in college. After being rejected by numerous girls and getting zero action, I decided it was time for a change. I needed a new makeover to boost my geeky, engineering image. I applied for a cooking position at a Mediterranean-Italian Restaurant near my home and learned to cook all sorts of pastas and dishes. They included the sauce and peanuts for the Lumpiang sariwa and bagoong for the Kare Kare. What I also like was that the vegetables for the Kare Kare were separated and you had the option to either mix it with the dish or grab it separately. I will definitely recommend them and use them again for another party. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the food but it looked delicious.
