Starting from the beginning planning process, Sara was super helpful, quick to respond, knowledgable about the planning process, and accomodating with all our requests. The tasting prior to selecting our menu was delicious. We went off the pre-selected entree choices for our menu, and the food was excellent, with great responses from all our guests. The venue itself was superb. Beautiful location, great green spaces, perfect for the classic Socal outdoor wedding. The flow makes perfect sense, from ceremony, to cocktail hour, to reception. And there's even an indoor option should weather be a bother. All the staff prior to and the day of were so helpful and friendly. We had no issues with anyone. The only issue we found was a lack of running water in the Bridal Suite sink. Thankfully the bathroom is right inside. Tip 1. I highly recommend perusing their entire menu to decide exactly what you would like to; no need to stick to their pre-selected choices! Of course you'll be paying the a la carte prices then. But the options are abounding. 2. We had a photobooth and gelato vendor that fit perfectly onto the patio area. 3. Dry wedding? No problem! The patio also has a rustic nook to fit a "mocktail" or even a "boba" bar!!! 4. There is adequate parking on-site, parking extends onto the lawn, and the venue provides staff to help guide people. I work for a non profit and had decided to host our staff Christmas party at the Ebell center. We had a limited budget and were stretching it to have here. Our coordinator Majalla was a sweetheart. Unfortunately the day before the event they called to say they had forgotten to add tablecloths to the contract and we were responsible for paying an additional $700 if we wanted to have our event the next day. I requested to not use the table cloths as we were already over budget for the event. I was told that was not an option as they had already taken delivery of them. Then I was told they would comp our drink station to try to meet us part way. Then I get an email from the Angie the director who changed the contract and lied about the drink cost trying to make it seem like she reduced the price, when the price had already been reduced in the original contract. The food was subpar, many complaints from our staff about the quality of the food. It's extremely shady business ethics they have and I would warn anyone from doing business with them! If you are already scheduled, save original copies of the contract as they will try and bait/switch you, then lie about it. Very disappointed overall. read more

We had our wedding at Muckenthaler Cultural Center in June. Colette's Catering is the designated catering service with the venue. The venue is gorgeous and the food is really high quality. My husband and I are still talking about how our great vendors team making our dream come true! First, Sara, our event manager, who is very sweet, knowledgeable and approachable. She truly cares for us from the start to the end. We are grateful she went beyond on our behalf to resolve the little construction hiccup at the end. From our venue tour to our tasting to our wedding day, Angie and the team at Collette's and Muckenthaler Mansion were a dream to work with. They were communicative, clear, timely, and so helpful. It's so convenient to have everything go through them, like tables, chairs, bar, staff, catering, linens, additional rentals, and cake. We were also able to bring in outside vendors like a photobooth and boba bar. We also used one of the rooms in the mansion to have a kids table with activities. This venue and catering were one of the most reasonably priced options, as well. We really felt like they were our cheerleaders doing everything they could to make our day smooth and memorable. Our guests could not stop raving about how beautiful the setting was. It's great to be able to use any space on the property that you want, so we had each part of the night in a different space, which really made it feel cozy and homey like we were hosting a backyard garden reception and a party inside the mansion/gallery. We also felt great that the venue fee was a donation to the nonprofit cultural center. The food is delicious and the drinks were strong. The staff lead Anthony was at our beck and call all night, and thought of the tiniest details to enhance our experience. The bartender and servers were great too. My husband & I got married at the Muckenthaler last year and Colette's Catering made our special day absolutely seamless! First, the venue is GORGEOUS. It has such a romantic, timeless feel. We had our mini reception in the Italian Garden and were so happy with how it turned out. There are so many perfect spots at this venue for photos - our photographer was in heaven. Second, Sara is amazing!! Not only is she super responsive but she's also incredibly sweet. She's super thorough and organized and she made us feel 100% taken care of. My daughter and her husband were recently married at the Muckenthaler Mansion in Fullerton, where Colette's catering is the chosen vendor to coordinate all the wedding and reception needs. Since my daughter is out of state, I was the one to coordinate the details of the ceremony and reception. I worked with Sara, who is very knowledgeable, accommodating and super easy to work with. Let me just say that the venue is so beautiful and just ideal for the current climate of health and safety issues we are all facing. Both the ceremony and reception were held outdoors and that added to the comfort level for our guests. Everyone commented on about how beautiful the venue is, and they also complimented us on all the delicious food (which I think is quite unique, because you very rarely hear guests raving about wedding food). On the wedding day, our coordinator Jenny was very attentive and helped us through all the details. She gave us all the feeling that we were in very good hands. On 11/11/23 we had a 80th birthday party for my husband. We hired Colette's catering and they did a fantastic job. The event captain Anthony Duran made it all so easy to entertain my 17 guests. Collette's catering provided they're catering service for my wedding Saturday the 18th of March. They were so attentive and so helpful. I was getting ready for the after ceremony photos, and it was taking a bit of time because my bustle wouldn't bustle. Out of nowhere, they actually brought us some snacks to feed my hangry. Then we went to the ceremony after the photos, and everybody was just going on and on about their appetizers and how good they were, we even ran out! Dinner was absolutely wonderful. When my (now) husband and I got engaged last year, we planned a wedding for July 2020 with another venue down the street. Unfortunately, they cancelled on us last minute. (13 days before our wedding date, due to the venues personal reasons. Not related to COVID...) My husband and I had to find a venue last minute and came across Muckenthaler. The venue coordinator, Sara, responded to our emails quickly and she was so organized, sweet, and friendly! I wish I would've planned with her from the start when I started planning our wedding ten months ago! Because of COVID, my husband and I reduced our original guest count and decided to just have a small social distancing microwedding with our family and bridal party and it was honestly the BEST decision we ever made. We asked our guests and vendors to wear masks during our wedding to ensure everyone's safety during this time. Since Muckenthaler has 9 acres of space, we were able to space our reception tables at least 20 feet apart! As far as the food, we ended up choosing our menu options without scheduling a tasting because we had to plan within 13 days. And boy, were we all blown away by the food! The hor d'oeuvres were all delicious and the petit chimichurri beef and salmon was beyond amazing. For the hor d'oeuvres, we had shrimp and avocado ceviche, potato short rib, mini double baked bliss with caviar, and burrata tomato jam crostini. Our wedding can a blueprint during COVID season and prove that microweddings CAN be just as beautiful and meaningful (with all the safety precautions). We hired Colette's Catering for our wedding this March and couldn't have been in better hands. Wanted to give a quick shout-out to Sara P guiding us through the 8-month long process of choosing packages, meals, and even sourcing vendors. She acted like a de-facto wedding planner, was really efficient in her communication and helped us save money when the final bill came. At one point, we almost got scared into hiring a wedding planner for several thousand more $ before she shared exactly what Colette's and Jenny could take care of for us. We ended up just opting to hire a designer to get our wedding style unified and this was a great decision. Additionally, I wanted to give a huge props to Jenny C. for being an unbelievable day-of coordinator. A month before the wedding she explained everything we needed for the event to be successful. We had a 1 hour meeting and she thought of all the little details so nothing would slip through the cracks. My wife was super impressed at how methodical and detail oriented she was. We had other moments of stress leading up to the day and she was very open and responsive to texts and phone calls. On the day of the wedding, when everything gets stressful, Jenny was very calm and handled multiple personalities well. Food wise, I don't have much to complain about. It did seem like the food Colette's serves is definitely one of the more high quality wedding meals. Of course being the married couple you don't really taste anything because you're busy worried about other things, but I imagine it went over well. Colette's lets you attend a food tasting appointment several months in advance, which was an awesome experience. We were treated like royalty and got to stuff ourselves with a lot of the menu. During that time, I did feel like the food was a bit too salty and we did tell the chef. The cake wasn't quite to our liking (design wise) but I think it was due to misinterpreting our instructions. My advice- it's important to send a photo of exactly how you'd like the cake to be. Overall, Colette's has their stuff together and I would 100% recommend them. If you are looking for a custom wedding they are super flexible and able to adapt to your wishes! They are NOT a full service wedding package, so be prepared to do some research, digging and hiring of your own. We hired the following vendors - design -florals - music - DJ/MC - photographer -videographer And we also made and designed our own stationery and brought our own decorations such as table numbers, candles, welcome/seating chart signs, and place cards. We got married at Muckenthaler Mansion this past September, and our package with Colette's included an outdoor ceremony (chairs, stereo system, guestbook table, water station), cocktail hour inside the mansion (cocktail tables and linens, open beer and wine bar), and reception (seated dinner, served wine with dinner, open beer and wine bar, tables, chairs, linens, silverware/plates), and day of coordination. Event Manager - Let's start with Sara. Sara Parrell was our Event Manager, and was responsive, organized, patient, and warm - exactly the kind of person you want walking you through wedding decisions. She was inside the mansion when we did our first look and started tearing up! She truly puts her heart into making your wedding the best it can possibly be, and it's obvious she loves her job. Food - At our tasting, I knew we were in for a treat because the food was AMAZING. It was just as good on the day of the wedding - so many guests could not stop raving to me about it. I wish I had more pictures to see but you'll have to see for yourself! There are a few vegans/vegetarians in my family and they had so many choices and were very accommodating. Service - If you want to be treated like royalty on your wedding day, go with Colette's. Anthony (if I remember correctly) was working the wedding and making sure the food service went off without a hitch. He went the extra mile and brought me water during pictures before the ceremony and FANNED ME when I was getting warm! He also gave my husband and I champagne right after the ceremony and some appetizers while we were taking photos during the cocktail hour. Day of Coordination - Jenny Carson is a wonderful type A human (just like me). When you are organized and want everything to be how you imagine in your head, it's tough to hand over responsibility to someone you barely know, but Jenny was more than I could have dreamed! She was great with directing the rehearsal and making everyone feel comfortable and confident in the events for the day. This last weekend Colette's Catering & Events pulled off the bridal shower of my daughter's dreams at our home/backyard. Our guests were getting seconds from the buffet and said the food was great. More than a month after the event a friend just had to tell us how good the cake was and that they still remembered how it tasted! We had Sara Parrell as our day-of coordinator and she also managed the catering details, booked all rentals, and helped us plan the general layout of the day over the course of the year leading up to the wedding. I attended a party that was South of France / St. Tropez themed in Newport Coast, at a private home. Colette's Catering and Events handled the food and beverage. And wow, everyone working that event knocked it out of the park. In keeping with both a fun summer party, and with the theme of St.Tropez / South of France, the food was perfectly themed to the party, with everything from french sandwiches, to fresh fruits, vegetables, a poke bar, a stir fry bar, and two bars with well stocked provisions and great bar staff. We worked directly with Angie Raygoza and she was ON IT; in fact, Angie two steps ahead of everything throughout the planning process. Collette's was the third of four bakeries we visited when sampling cakes for our August 27, 2011 wedding. We selected Collette's because all of their cakes tasted marvelous!! We ended up doing with two flavours - red velvet with a raspberry filling and then vanilla with a hazelnut filling. One thing that was great about Collette's is that they were able to completely sketch out and draw our cake how we wanted it whilst sitting in the room. (They have some great art skills!) It was so wonderful during our consultation to see our cake come to life. One the day of the wedding, my husband and I received both slices of cake. I honestly could have devoured the entire red velvet tier myself, if my dress had that much breathing space. It was phenomenal! The vanilla layer was good, too, but the hazelnut was a little strong for my taste. My guests (including my mum) had it - and said it was great. My guests and family are all impressed at their team's work. One bridesmaid told me that this is the most organized wedding preparation she's ever seen. Slightly different focus than the other reviews because I was MOH, not the bride, but I HAD to leave a review for our day-of coordinator, Jenny! My best friend got married at the Muckenthaler recently, the venue was gorgeous (barely needed any extra decorating), the food from Colette's was creative and tasted incredible (guests said it was the best wedding food they've ever had), and the service team was so attentive! Quick shout out to Anthony, head of the service team, for being absolutely amazing! He helped us decorate in between setting up and kept an eye on everything so that he could catch when something was needed and make it happen. I was too nervous for his jokes when we first arrived haha, but with his and Jenny's help I eventually got to enjoy the event and be present for my best friend :) Now back to Jenny. She was an angel. I met her the day before the wedding at the rehearsal and she was so organized and accommodating for every last minute change. I really appreciate her from the day of the wedding though because being MOH is no joke, but Jenny made sure that I felt taken care of also. It was really helpful to have someone coordinating all the vendors and making sure the entire day was running as it should so I could just focus on the bride and her family. Jenny was always responsive and available for every emergency situation and even helped deal with awkward/difficult family situations. She constantly checked in with me to make sure we were doing okay and at the end of the night, she rounded up and packed all my decorations and other things so that I could enjoy the reception and dancing without having to worry too much about clean up or losing anything. 100% the day would have been so stressful and messy without Jenny. We had our wedding at the Muckenthaler Mansion (who are contracted with Colettes Catering). They handled our food/bar/cake, lighting and day of coordinating. There was slight miscommunication during the planning process, but everything was delivered as requested on our wedding day. I loved our lighting setup. Food wise - I personally enjoyed the hors d'oeuvres (empanadas - favorite) and the wedding cake the most. BEWARE!!! AVOID Colette's unless you want to end up with a Leaning Tower of Pisa cake! See photos! I wish that I had read Norma L.'s review and seen her cake picture prior to placing my order for a $480 custom birthday cake. We placed an order for a Mad Hatter cake which was supposed to be designed with 3 angled tiers instead we got a bottom tier that was concaved and was swallowing up the other two tiers and creating a mini leaning tower of pisa. No whimsy or topsy-turvy appearance just cracked fondant and exposed wooden dowel rod holding the whole thing together! We paid extra for a chocolate Happy Birthday placard however, they apparently broke it during transport and didn't compensate us for their error, and wrote "Happy Birthday" with icing. When we called the so-called "cake goddess", Theresa, to express our dissatisfaction, we were met with accusations and called the "cake police" instead of an apology and/or explanation. We purposefully paid for Colette's team to transport the cake so that any problems that should occur would be corrected by the "cake goddess" herself. Not only was Theresa not involved with the cake delivery, when the placard broke, they didn't have another one and used juvenile handwritten icing as the back-up plan. By booking the Muckenthaler Mansion for our wedding, we were contracted to work with Colette's Catering, and we really had NO problem with that at all! We'd had the chance to taste their wedding cake about a year before our wedding, and were thoroughly impressed...and couldn't wait for more real food to try! Colette's food was absolutely delicious! For appetizers, we ordered the macaroni balls, and everyone was pretty impressed by those. We got so many compliments on our dinner... The dinner service was great, too. Totally courteous and everything ran incredibly smoothly. And the CAKE?! Their cake is AMAZING. Theresa--who is Colette's "Cake Goddess", totally understood exactly what we wanted for our cake, and she nailed it. We had song lyrics about love written all around our cake. She made it look so beautiful and professional--we were in LOVE with it. And then...we ate it! Which was equally awesome and delicious. The cake was so moist and perfect. We loved it--I will order cakes there in the future, for SURE!! My only complaint, and the reason for the four stars, was that we'd actually ordered the beef with marsala sauce as one of our entrees...and for some reason, the marsala sauce never arrived? It didn't matter much--no one noticed but the hubby and I. Also, literally the week before the wedding, our onsite coordinator left. I tried Collette's for the first time about a year ago, when my brother's girlfriend bought him a cake from here. She bought him a cake shaped like an Angel's Baseball hat (obviously he's a huge fan of the team). It was adorable! It was a yellow cake, with chocolate frosting filling, and also had fondant to shape the hat. It also tasted amazing. The cake fed about 20 people; which was a good size. Then this past June, my brother returned the favor, and bought her a Hello Kitty custom cake. It was a 3 tier cake and the design of Hello Kitty was perfect and they really took great care and time into making it perfect. One of the tiers was confetti cake, one was strawberry (which I tried, and absolutely LOVED) and the last tier was vanilla cake. Their cakes are moist and the frosting is delicious! Just the perfect amount of sugar/sweetness, where it's not overpowering. The only reason I deduct a point is because we picked up her Hello Kitty cake around 1pm and we had to keep it in a cool, air-conditioned area. Well by the time we cut the cake, which was around 8 or 9pm, it was the Leaning Tower of Hello Kitty. It was a high maintenance cake, which I don't recommend if you can't take care of it. I wish it didn't tilt because it was an adorable cake, but the cake melted, which was unfortunate. Still very cute though. I like that you can make custom designed cakes for those small special birthday's and things of that sort, and not just for weddings. Sometimes someone wants a great cake! The price for the Hello Kitty cake was reasonable (if you don't mind spending a little) it was under 250 bucks. read more

We arranged to hold our wedding reception here in April of 2007. The coordinator, Natalie, is very kind and yes, very coordinated with what she does. She kept a great line of communication every so often until the wedding day to make sure every thing was perfect, down to the ingredients in the dinner being served. The meal we chose for our evening/dinner reception is probably the best we've had, even far greater tasting than some high end restaurants. And at less than 50/head that is wonderful! There are many dishes to choose from, and upon appointment, they give you entire meals to taste and choose from. All of the paperwork, payment arrangements, and schedule was taken care of in a professional and timely manner. She let us have the entire hall at no additional cost which turned out perfect, it was a kind gesture to toss in for free. The only and I mean ONLY reason I omitted two stars was actually was because the cake, even though it was included, was not as good as I anticipated, very dry and bland, but still beautiful. The room was not well lit for people to dance, and the patio/entrance is nothing special, could have been dressed up a bit more, it was as if guests had to briefly cross a dank alley to get to the amazingly stunning banquet hall. All in all, they were very affordable and you get great peace of mind knowing everything's taken care of and arranged in order for your big event. read more

Cross posted from my other review on the Mucks page. I don't even know where to begin with this review. On March 15th, 2012, my fiance proposed. On March 17th, 2012, we went to The Muck. Within an hour of being there, it all felt so right and we booked the venue right away for June 9th, 2012...just 11 weeks away! During that hour, we toured the venue and spoke with Duane about our vision, our budget and who we are as a couple. Duane understood all that I wanted and had envisioned my whole life and he said he could make it happen. Within the next few weeks, we worked with Duane and Rick closely. Our menu tasting and cake tasting appointment went perfectly. We chose a dual entree, a mixed green salad and wild rice pilaf and green beans. We chose their sun dried tomato cream sauce chicken and their slow roasted pot roast. We chose their marble cake and hazelnut filling and another option, which escapes my memory right now. After we got home, my then fiance and I changed our mind about the pot roast and put our faith into Duane and went with another option sight unseen (I'll tell you more about that shortly). After that visit, we added a tent for our reception and they accomodated that request wonderfully. We also added paper lanterns with pendant lighting to light up the area. Rick and Duane were very honest with us about what we needed and what we didn't really need. They also recommended a great lounge furniture company (Modern Chair Rental) that had amazing prices and the exact furniture we wanted. We made the decision to pay the extra fee to use Rick as our wedding coordinator, and it was a decision that I am so thankful we made. He was amazing to work with, which is exactly what a bride with an 11 week engagement needs. Cut to last Saturday, our wedding day. When we arrived at the venue, things were already being set up and it was so beautiful that I found myself getting emotional. Rick had set up all my details just as I wanted, and somehow managed to make things I worked so hard on even more beautiful than I had imagined. He helped to bring together my vision and my DIY projects. He kept commenting on how he loved all my details and that all the other vendors did too, just what EVERY DIY bride wants to hear. He even told me they want to use my wedding for Ceremony Magazine, which is amazing to a girl who loves all things wedding. The ceremony space was beautiful, the cocktail hour was amazing and the tented reception was every brides dream. The cocktail hour apps we added to our menu were crispy bacon mac and cheese, mini cocktail weenies in puff pastry and shot glasses of tomato soup and mini grilled cheese. We were going with a comfort food theme and all of our guests have told us how great it all was. The dinner menu was amazing and the change in our beef choice was SPOT ON. It was so tender and flavorful, everyone said it wasnt typical wedding food. They gave us our food ASAP so that we could eat fast and mingle. Included in the package was our cake and it took my breath away. Colettes went above and beyond and gave me the wedding cake of my dreams. It was almost as flavorful as it was beautiful. It hurt my heart to have to cut into it. They kept us to our schedule and helped to make the day flow smoothly. Everything about last Saturday was so far and beyond what I had dreamed of my entire life. There aren't enough words to describe how happy we were in choosing the Muck. I highly recommend this venue to anyone and everyone who want an amazing outdoor wedding at a venue that is so beautiful it needs no decorations!! Don't believe me? Go see for yourself! My husband I had our wedding at the Muckenthaler Mansion in August of 2018 and Colette's (and Duane!!!) were so amazing. The food tasting was delicious and easy -- they also included options for me (as I am a dairy-free pescetarian). The wedding day was perfect and guests complimented us on the menu.
