I was vulnerable, embarrassed, and hoping for honest guidance and real help. At the time, I still had some of my lower natural teeth and two implants placed by another dentist that were functioning well and looked fine. Instead of advising me to return to the original implant dentist, I was told they could fix my smile and make me look great. I trusted that. What I received instead was a bulky, unnatural-looking bridge that left me feeling humiliated and devastated. After paying around $22,000, I was left with dental work that not only damaged my confidence, but made daily life harder. Because of my autoimmune condition, chewing and swallowing were already difficult. After this treatment, food began getting trapped under the bridge whenever I ate, and I often have to use a water flosser immediately afterward. Something as simple as going out to eat now feels stressful instead of enjoyable. I later sought care elsewhere for cleanings only, because after this experience I was not ready emotionally, physically, or financially to take on another major dental reconstruction. Even so, another dental professional made it clear that the outcome I was living with was deeply concerning. That only confirmed what I already knew: I had trusted the wrong place with a very vulnerable situation. This was not just an expensive disappointment. It affected my comfort, my confidence, and my quality of life. Patients who are already struggling deserve honesty, compassion, and care that does not leave them worse than when they walked in."

There are…read moresome great dentists & assistants but also some that are way too inexperienced (eg not knowing how to do an X-ray). They have gotten WAY too expensive & blame it all on insurance. You used to be able to get in for emergencies but no more. Then they started doing "the special conversation" about $ before treating you. They're way overbooked & just here to turn us around faster for the money now. Sad bc there really are good dentists there (avoid the newer ones if you do decide to go here after all this). But the office staff-wow has that gone downhill. There is one competent friendly person there (long dark hair glasses), give her a raise. Recently I tried to make an appt & they kept insisting they had just seen me & there was nothing they could do, despite saying it was a DIFFERENT TOOTH, this happened w 2 different people. I had to wait so long to get in for severe tooth pain (a week) it had died down & I just managed as best u could with old meds. But I still wanted to go to find out what was wrong so I went. They lost my appt. I could wait for what could be hours Or book for the next day. In taking to the woman I explained at this point I would prefer to just do it next week. We made the appt. They called yesterday to say i missed my appt (that isn't for another week). I was not surprised. I had to repeat myself several times to her & she was so out of it she couid barely function. I'll be charitable & say it was lack of caffeine. I didn't leave with any confidence that she was able to schedule a simple appt. & yup I was right. And please remember I took time out of my day to show up for the 1st appt that they failed to put in the calendar. Are you kidding me? I feel more comfortable going to some random place I don't even know now & that is saying something given I'm afraid of dentists. We have to change all of our paperwork now too which is the only reason we've persisted so far. Good job losing loyal customers (& all the $ I've spent there). But it prob won't matter as you're just packing us in like cattle now. The predatory Sage model. If you made it this far I hope you know I'm only doing this to hopefully save someone else this aggravation & maybe get word to whoever runs the office-for the love of god-clean house. Don't reply with some empty "we hear you" message. I've said it here, you know what you need to & you're just replying BS here to look good "come talk to us" why? You won't change anything. People are smarter than that.

I have never written a negative review before, but after months of frustration, I feel compelled to…read moreshare my experience with Making Awesome Smiles of Royal Palm Beach. I scheduled an emergency appointment for a painful tooth and specifically requested Dr. Thomas. When I arrived on April 13, 2026, I was unexpectedly seen by Dr. Perkins and only then learned Dr. Thomas was on sabbatical. No one informed me before my appointment. Dr. Perkins diagnosed a root canal and porcelain onlay. The staff strongly encouraged me to have the root canal performed that day by Dr. Diaz, assuring me he was the "best." Trusting their recommendation, I paid in advance. During the procedure, Dr. Diaz was interrupted multiple times by staff asking questions, causing repeated stops while I was already anxious about my first root canal. After several hours, he said the tooth was heavily calcified, placed a temporary filling, and scheduled me to return on April 22. I was given no written post-treatment instructions. When I arrived for my follow-up, I was told I wasn't on the schedule despite making the appointment before leaving the office. I had to leave and return later that afternoon. During that visit, treatment began again but was stopped when Dr. Diaz determined the case was too complicated and referred me to an endodontist. Dr. Castillo at Wave Endodontics successfully completed the root canal in a single visit on April 28 after I had already endured two unsuccessful attempts. On May 18, I returned to Making Awesome Smiles for my crown and onlay. During the fitting appointment, a dental assistant sprayed cold air on the treated tooth. When I reacted in pain, she laughed and asked why I was scared. I explained that it was painful and asked if that was normal. She said she would ask the doctor. Dr. Diaz repeated the same cold-air test. When he asked why I had reacted, I again explained that it was painful. He then administered a local anesthetic and began placing the crown and onlay. However, neither restoration fit properly. When I asked why they did not fit and why I would have to repeat the procedure, I was told, "Your gums were bleeding last time, so that's why the impression didn't take." As a result, I had to undergo another set of impressions. The refund process was equally frustrating. Since the office could not complete the root canal I had already paid for, I requested a refund on April 22 and was told it would be processed within 72 hours. It never was. For weeks I repeatedly contacted the office, received different explanations, and struggled to reach management. When I finally spoke with the office manager on May 20, nearly a month later, I was told upper management had to approve the refund which is not what I was told. Meanwhile, I had already paid both Making Awesome Smiles and the specialist who ultimately completed the root canal. Making Awesome Smiles continues sending me invoices demanding additional payment. Dr. Diaz also recommended extensive additional dental work, including wisdom tooth removal, replacement of multiple fillings, replacement of my silver fillings, and braces. After seeking a second opinion from another dentist, I was told those treatments were not necessary at this time. I was informed that my fillings were not failing, my wisdom teeth were not an urgent concern, and much of the recommended treatment could be deferred. From my emergency visit through my follow-up appointments, nearly every step involved communication failures, scheduling errors, unsuccessful treatment, billing problems, or unnecessary delays. Between the lack of communication, repeated interruptions during treatment, an incomplete root canal requiring referral, unprofessional staff interactions, poorly fitting restorations, refund and billing issues, and treatment recommendations later contradicted by another dentist, this was one of the most frustrating healthcare experiences I have ever had. I cannot recommend Making Awesome Smiles of Royal Palm Beach. My family and I will be seeking dental care elsewhere moving forward.

Because Dr. Thomas participates in my dental plan and had positive reviews, I booked an appointment for February 17, 2026 and had my implant dentist send over X-rays and the treatment diagnosis in advance. When I arrived, a hygienist reviewed the X-rays and suggested a cleaning. I explained I had already had one about a month earlier. After briefly looking at the X-rays, she told me it was not necessary for me to see Dr. Thomas at all and escorted me to the front desk. At the front desk, Jennifer accessed my dental plan and created a treatment plan with estimated costs. I was told crowns could not be placed for about three months, so I planned to wait for my insurance pre-authorization. Two weeks later my dental plan had received nothing. When I called the office, Jennifer explained that a pre-authorization requires the dentist to evaluate the patient. She then realized I had never actually seen the dentist during my visit. The office manager's (Angie)only response was, "Mistakes are made. We apologize." No solution or follow-up was offered. Dr. Thomas may be an excellent dentist, but the disorganized and unprofessional handling by his staff made the experience very disappointing.

I don't usually write reviews, but this experience was frustrating enough that I feel obligated to…read moreshare. I'm currently in Florida handling my mother's affairs after her passing, and in the middle of all that I needed to see a dentist since I'm overdue. I thought this office might also be a good long-term option since I may be spending more time in the area. When I first called, I explained my situation. They initially tried to put me into a same-day opening due to a cancellation -- just 1.25 hours after I called -- which would have left me barely an hour to get there, and they pushed for me to have my prior X-rays sent over immediately to make it work. I told them that wasn't realistic (it ultimately took multiple calls and three business days to get them the records). As an alternative, they scheduled me for 9:00 AM the following Monday. I asked for something later in the day, since a first appointment right after a weekend can be tricky, but was told this was the only option. In hindsight, the urgency around filling that same-day slot felt more like desperation than a thoughtful patient experience. I went out of my way to make this work. I rearranged my schedule, made sure everything was submitted by Friday, received multiple confirmations including one at 7:00 AM the morning of, and left early to arrive by 8:45 -- 15 minutes ahead as instructed for new patients. At 8:30 AM, while I was already in the car on the way there, I received a call and text canceling the appointment. The reason: no hygienist available and they couldn't find a temp. I was also told they use temporary hygienists for cleanings, which is not something I'm comfortable with to begin with. Canceling at the last minute -- literally while I'm driving there -- after all the effort required to meet their conditions is unprofessional and inconsiderate, particularly given the circumstances I'd explained upfront. And requiring X-rays in advance for what was supposed to be a routine cleaning, only to cancel due to a staffing failure, raises real questions about how this office is managed. Now, already overdue and with further delay due waiting for this cancelled appointment, I have to start over finding a new dentist entirely. I understand things happen, but this level of disorganization and disregard for a patient's time is unacceptable. I have little confidence in how an actual appointment would have gone. I'd strongly encourage anyone considering this office as a new patient to think carefully before investing the time and effort. I certainly won't be rescheduling here.

I had to get a crown on one of my two front teeth - apparently every dentists' worst nightmare because the crown must match the shape and color of the other front tooth (or the original tooth being crowned) exactly or else your smile changes. During the consultation they were excellent. Dr Harrison and Donna talked me through all my options (crown one tooth, crown nothing or crown both front teeth to make sure they match). With each option given, Dr Harrison and Donna discussed the pros and cons including how it might affect my smile and my face. This was really important to me. I knew they weren't focused on just getting the job done and getting paid. They were focused on getting me the results I was looking for. We decided to do just the one tooth. Donna called me to see if I had any questions and give me prep and whitening advice before coming in. When they were prepping the tooth and putting in the temp crown I was able to pop my headphones in and zone out. The Dr. was funny and easy to talk to and just full of good and positive energy. And with Donna you just knew you were in safe hands. She really took care of me and just made me feel like I was her only patient (idk how u can do that in a dental office but that's exactly how she made me feel). They both had me laughing and relaxed each visit despite how nervous I was about what I was about to potentially do to my smile. When the permanent tooth came in it didn't match 100%. I really really can't overstate how much I appreciate Donna and Dr Harrison for being honest and saying "we're not putting that in". We went outside to check it in the sunlight, they called other employees over to get their opinion, we took pics on my phone and Donna's phone, etc. I was anxious to get my permanent tooth (temp crowns are annoying) in and was getting impatient and if they had said "let's put it in" I probably would have been like "ok let's do it" and been stuck with disappointing results bc who's going to go through that hassle of taking out a brand new crown and redoing it bc it's not "perfect". Instead, they were very honest with their thoughts and had me go meet with the designer so the designer could shade the color with me there in person . The designer had me there for 2 hours while he shaded and reshaded the tooth til it was perfect. He was also easy to work with and focused on perfection!! We went outside, took pics, looked at mirrors inside and outside until we both decided it was perfect! Ok so now we have the perfect shade and shape. I go back to Donna and Dr Harrison. It was the easiest procedure I ever had! I was expecting pain but all I had to do was bite down and it was in and solid. When I saw the permanent crown in I almost cried bc it was so so perfect. Nothing is ever 100% perfect so I was expecting atleast some slight disappointment and just gearing myself up to getting used to a new smile that was atleast different, at most ugly. But I'm so happy to say: If you knew me before the crown you would have no idea my front tooth is now a Crown!!! I really cannot thank Donna and Dr Harrison enough for their honesty and focus on giving me exactly what I was looking for. I had to write a review to first thank them. And to tell everyone -especially those looking for the "very difficult to do" single front crown procedure - to come see Donna and Dr Harrison. They will take good care of you and be honest.
