I've been working on a show at 20th Century Fox for eleven years now and Bruce's Catering has been there the whole time and doing a great job. I only eat at the truck once a month or so (me and free food have a way of getting me in trouble) but it's always good. I wouldn't have thought about reviewing them on yelp except today I had this breakfast trio of shredded beef tacos that were sofa king good. I mean, the tortillas were heated up on the griddle with cheese so they had this crispy cheesey crust... pretty insane. Also.. the guys that work the truck are great. Kamel, Manny, Martin (I think)... always upbeat and "what's up?". read more

I've enjoyed appetizers, salads, and fabulous bread pudding for 8 years from Bruce's for an annual fundraising luncheon. Grilled shrimp as a starter is plump, tender, and savory each time. A bountiful array of cheeses, gourmet crackers and charcuterie meats also were served. Salads may have toppings like salmon, or chicken and raspberries. The bread pudding with whiskey sauce about makes grown women cry! Always a treat to enjoy this menu. The staff are efficient and gracious. read more

I've so enjoyed the catering food by Bruce's Catering on set for months now! The crew is lovely, and the last chef we had, Tony, is simply a delight. Good selections of meat, fish and salads. My only negative is that they do not do Asian cuisine well, but their tri-tip is excellent, even the chicken is done very well, and I'm not huge on chicken. Choices in sauces, fresh-cooked veggies, and so much variety. Something for everyone! But good food is only great when the servers are pleasant, and they have been so 100% of the time. read more

Although the food is very delicious they are EXTREMELY STINGY with their portions and the servers are very rude. They were also "providing" crafty on set. We pretty much had to beg for water and they would never set up anywhere close to set. read more

Of all the catering companies I've experienced on various sets, Bruce's is definitely top 3. The required lot catering at Warner Bros and a company I have since forgotten the name of that catered for True Blood. The show I have worked on for the past 5 years uses two different catering companies depending on what is going on that day and how many mouths they have to feed (silly budgets). When is a smaller crew day, we get Bruce's and we are always ecstatic. Bruce's takes great care with their menu planning. They don't just serve "chicken and potatoes" they serve "Fire Grilled Chicken with a Mango Chutney Salsa and Smashed Garlic and Herb Potatoes with Sea Salt" The difference a few things can make in a meal is incredible and we all stuff our faces on Bruce's days because we know when the other catering company is on the lot on different days that we will all be starving as we eat a mediocre salad and skip the hot foods. Aside from the food being really good, the guys who serve the food are always super friendly and accommodating. Overall, this company is a winner and if I ever find myself in charge of booking a caterer on set, I will look to Bruce's for sure. read more

Well, they out did their poor rating from the other day. That truck had been green. The truck in Castic today was white. Today, the gravy was firmer than the eggs. Seriously. The beacon was well cooked though, and not a burnt spot on it. That was my morning protein. As always though, the fruit was fresh, ripe and sweet. Food was fine but they need to be aware of their labor agreements. While working on set, I witnessed meal discrimination between crew and union actors which violates the SAG agreement. According to the contract "Whenever the Producer supplies meals or other food or hot drinks, or pays any money for meals, to the cast or crew, Producer shall supply the SAME to all Background Actors." Several actors were turned away from breakfast and lunch to a secondary trough of "other"/different food. When this was brought up, a heavily tattooed bean server (pictured) - who got all hot headed and confrontational - started bullying younger actors saying "is this what you want to do? Is this what you want to do? I work in LA and don't need to put up with this" before 'tattling' to an AD who said the actors better not "throw him under the bus for this". Never witnessed this kind of treatment on set and I'm guessing it's only because they were so far away from the union office that they felt they could get away with it. SAG was called between breakfast and lunch and production was given a warning. Nothing changed. Though it didn't affect me personally and it's the responsibility of the production, I cannot condone treating people that way and believe how the situation was (mis)handled. If I was "Bruce" I'd get rid of the bean server (is that what HE wanted to do??) as he's producing a stain on the company name that will be hard to get rid of. I would hire them for their food, but never for their service. read more

It seems as though,this is the year for retirement. I mean we've had 3 guys retire to date. And in each case we have a get together and socialize,we congratulate the person, we wish them luck in their new endeavors,they give a speech,and we eat(not necessarily in that order). It really is a pretty cool time. But the food is usually pretty blah...Not today though. Today we had Bruce's Gourmet Catering,Inc. who's Motion Picture Specialty Catering, was brought to my place of employment. I don't know who was responsible for hiring Bruce's,but they definitly deserve an "at a boy". Bruce's expertise and professionalism was a nice added touch to what we've had in the past. Our host's to day were Joy and Lindsay(hope I spelt it right)who served up a beautiful setting. The menu consisted of: Filet Mignon-served in port wine sauce. Sesame Crusted Ahi-Ahi filets served with Miso Vinaigrette. Chardonnay Capellini-Angel hair pasta with an assortment of mixed fresh vegetables and topped with a delicate chardonnay sauce. Manhattan Potatoes-Thinly sliced layered in parmesan cheese,and cream of garlic. Assorted vegetables. Raspberry Vinaigrette Salad-Gourmet greens topped with gargonzola and walnuts with raspberry vinaigrette. Citrus Salad-Leafed lettuce and pine nuts tossed with a citrus dressing Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce. I tried the Filet Mignon which was great. Very tender and moist. Not at all dry. I also went with the Manhattan Potatoes. Again absolutely perfect,with the cream of garlic not to over bearing and perfectly baked. The vegetable platter was very well done with a wide assortment of cooked veggies. I had the asparagus. Again, perfect. They were cooked but still were some what firm. Not over cooked to where it loses it's texture. I also tried their Citrus Salad. Very crisp and not real sauce. Just the right amount of dressing with a touch of citrus taste. And finally,I tried the Bread Pudding in Whiskey Sauce. Not being a big fan of bread pudding I was a little reluctant to try this,but with everything be so well prepared I thought,what have I got to lose. And I was right. The bread was light and not super heavy or dense, and well baked. The whiskey sauce was an added treat and a perfect topping,not taking away from the flavor of the pudding,but actually complimenting it. I've tried a lot of catered food while working in this industry,and I must admit,Bruce's is one of the best I've had. I would recommend this catering company to anyone Whether it be catering for your cast and crew or a retirement ,birthday or anniversary party or even a wrap party,Bruce's Gourmet Catering Inc. are the caterers for you. read more

I've worked on many sets throughout the past 15 years in the business. This is the first time I have felt inspired to write a review of the catering. For several months now the team of Paul, Ramon and Max have been serving up truly delicious food consistently. The salsa is fresh, the breakfast muffins home made, the menu varied, there are truly too many good points to list them all. What makes this 5 stars though is the attitude with which it is all served too. I would often have a chance to chat for a moment with Max as he prepared custom omelets for us. He was unfailingly cheerful and kind to everyone. The entire team really went out of their way to take care of us. Thank you for the wonderful food. Nomination for "worst people in the world" prize. Me: fresh post-op, visiting nurses doing open wound packing daily. Them: "Bruce's Catering and Events," truck #23. Parked fully blocking my driveway during a film shoot on my block. At a time when I needed to leave and go to the pharmacy for dressing change supplies. I asked them to move, and instead of moving, the two occupants instead laughed, made hand gestures and refused to move. Visiting nurses needed to park in my driveway because when TV & Film production uses this block, there is posted no parking on both sides of the street, so they need to come into my driveway to park. And there was plenty of open street parking at the time I asked them to move out of my driveway. Blocked my driveway for a solid hour when there was parking all over the block in open spaces next to the curb. Wouldn't move when asked. Bruce's Catering supplied us with the most delicious food for my daughter's backyard micro-wedding (12guests). I mean they went above and beyond anything I could have ever expected for a "drop off" dinner. Anthony worked with me choosing the perfect menu and had great suggestions. We had appetizers that looked like works of art. The dinner was ready to be reheated with detailed instructions for plating/setting up a buffet complete with sauces and garnishes. Great detail and care went into every aspect of their preparations. Can't wait to have another event so I can call them again. read more

Most are good, some not so good, and then there are the standout gems like Bruce's Catering. They have worked for film and video shoots at our company many times, often as a result of my recommendation. This company catered breakfast on our show... So I walk up to the breakfast truck, after waiting behind a line of my coworkers and costars that received friendly service without any questions and before I could open my mouth to say "good morning", the 'head guy' inside the trick gruffly asks "Are YOU crew??" Now, the only difference between myself and everyone else that had just ordered breakfast, is the color of my skin... I informed him that I was principal cast, and then my castmate orders breakfast right after me, and gets a friendly smile and a good morning, no questions. She was the same race as the others he was friendly to. She couldn't believe it either. Interesting, don't you think? read more

One of the Best on set catering BUT way too heavy on the salt. For aspiring actors and especially actresses salt adds on water retention weight and when one is needing to fit into smaller clothing sizes this is not good. This is what salt shakers are for. But salt is also bad for us all. It raises blood pressure and causes coagulation of cholesterol all bad for our heart as well as our butt size. Me and some of my fellow actresses bring our own food to television sets now even though the catered food is free. Also waaaay too heavy on the oil when making breakfast omelettes. Using a no stick pan they put about 3 tablespoons full of oil to cook your eggs. This is about 400 calories of fat and again for aspiring actresses this is unnecessary calories especially when using a no stick pan designed for oil free cooking. It's not just Bruce's catering but most catering companies on set and location that use too much salt and oil but all of them. In an effort for all actresses on set, I called Bruce's and an unfriendly woman dismissed my lower salt suggestion. She said she would pass on my comments to the head chef but by the tone of her voice I highly doubt it would happen. If she took me serious she would have taken my name and phone number and had the chef or someone call me back. read more

Terrible service. If I could give them 0 stars I would. I asked for a lid for my cup of coffee on set, and they said they ran out. There was another truck that had some, but the guy put no effort to put out any more on the truck that he was working. Felt like he didn't even care, therefore I feel the company doesn't care about me. I will never use their services ever. I know it's just a lid, but it's the principle of the matter of no effort. I work in film and TV. It used to be something to brag about. Now the business is so brutal, people feel sorry for you. Well, anyone "in the know." There are only 3 things we have to look forward to: Payday, Friday and Lunch. Was recently on a non-union reality show (yes, feel sorry for me) and we had a caterer that was so bad the crew didn't eat it. If you know anything about crews, we eat anything that's free. But the crew wouldn't eat it, made sandwiches instead so the producer brought in Bruce's. In a word: Amazing! The food was great: great tasting, great selection, great! When I get married, I'm having Bruce's do my wedding. It's that good! read more

My wife and I had Bruce's cater our wedding after hearing about them from my father-in-law (they are the caterers for the show he works on). Excellent food, excellent staff. The food was not just good "wedding food," it was plain and simple great food. We received SO many compliments on our catering choice because of both the quality of the food and the attentiveness of the staff. But for the past four or five months we've had the privilege of enjoying Bruce's Catering every weekend. It's easily the best food we've ever been given, in all these years. We launched a huge project some time ago that has been extremely stressful, and these meals have been the high point of some of my days. They are masters with beef. Perfect every time. They're also very good with poultry. Chicken entrees are always juicy and seasoned well. And there's this cookie/brownie/cake thing with vanilla ice cream that's the SHIZZLE. read more

I've had Bruces catering at several parties. When you walk into the room and see the display, it is so visually enticing! Flowers and food, displayed so magnificently, so artfully, so exciting and so mouth watering! It really sets the tone for any party. It is theatrical and beautiful and really truly delicious food. Bruces always puts out a great variety of foods, all fresh and scrumptuous, all the while his polite and gracious staff keeps cooking up additional items and the menu just keeps evolving throughout the party. Everytime you look something new is coming out of the kitchen, each different yet somehow complimentary to the totality of the menu.
