Every time I called and spoke to Matt, the owner, he was so friendly and answered all my questions. Even when I forgot to ask something and called back, he wasn't annoyed with me and never tried to cut me off, he took the time and explained everything to me. I truly appreciated that. He & his wife welcomed the chance to have prepared food brought in from outside. They heated the lasagna in their home and we had dinner there. What a huge hit. Don't let the word 'catering' deter you from ordering (especially if you're afraid of too much food), because Zach's Catering offers trays in multiple sizes to accommodate your needs. But let's face it- with food this delicious, a tray meant to serve 5 people quickly becomes 3 servings for one person (as it did in the case for my brother, haha). Zach's was first introduced to me when a sales rep catered lunch for my clinic. People talked nonstop about the food for days. When Zach's Catering magically reappeared for lunch a couple of months later, it was a war zone trying to get enough of Matt's tasty food onto my plate. I decided to order my own Zach's trays so my family could enjoy the food, too. The beef pot roast mashed potatoes are to die for. The dish reheats surprisingly perfectly. I don't know how Matt does it, but the pot roast stays just as tender even after sticking it in the microwave, so every subsequent meal still tastes like you just picked it up straight from Matt's kitchen. All the Asians risked it for the three-cheese mushroom lasagna (what's a little lactose intolerance?). Totally worth the consequences. You can't go wrong with any of the salads, but if you're going to pick just one, go for the Baby Greens Salad. The desserts disappear very quickly, too (both the lemon bars and brownies). Unfortunately, by the time I remembered to make my way back to the kitchen at work, everything was gone. The dangerous part about this whole thing is- Zach's Catering is located WAY too close to home (it's less than a 10-minute drive). No doubt Matt will be cooking most of our meals from now on (I can't wait to order the eggplant parm and a fish dish next time). The pickup door is a nondescript door on Delano Street (close to Van Nuys Blvd). There's a little sign that I missed at first (so it took me a few extra minutes to locate the correct pickup place). Matt really is the cherry on top of this whole wonderful experience. He is so kind and offered to carry my trays for me, even though I parked right across the street. Matt even checked in on me a week later to make sure the food was to my liking and signed me up for his loyalty program, which gives you 5% back on every order (and 2% back on orders placed by anyone you refer!). I used to spend days prepping and slaving away in the kitchen during the holidays. Between the numerous get-togethers between friends and families, it was always never-ending days at the grocery store/in the kitchen. The level of personal interest he takes in making sure you're getting exactly what you need for your particular occasion is touching. Zach's Catering has become a staple in my arsenal of vendors. I do craft services and when I need excellent quality and especially tasty food I know where to go. They do it all and they do it well. Breakfast? Best bacon in town, insane blueberry cream cheese baked French toast and they're the only vendors that use real eggs. Most vendors use cartoned eggs. Lunch and dinner are also fresh and delicious. If you want an incredible lasagna their mushroom lasagna is so flavorful and savory that it satisfies the meat eaters that do not believe in veggie lasagna on principle. Not only is the food delicious but Matt and everyone else at Zachs are super nice and go way above and beyond. For example: the way I found Zach's was because I was desperately looking for a caterer to help me out with breakfast for 125 people on a Friday night around 11:30 for the next morning at 7am!!
