Diane and I arrived here again for dinner to get a few more tastes of Windy City staples and more. For an opener I had a good basic salad with cut tomato pieces and a vibrant French Dressing. An Italian Beef Dip dunked in au jus by request before it arrived at our table was packed with lean strips of beef cooked medium to medium rare, Green Bell Peppers, and White Onions inside two sections of a soft hoagie, along with more peppery au jus for further dipping. And a relatively large Vienna Beef Kraut Dog was perfectly cooked and encased inside a soft Poppyseed Bun filled with hot Sauerkraut and some Yellow Mustard. I added some more Yellow Mustard inside the roll. Coupled with all housemade long Skin-on Skinny French Fries, Coleslaw, and most memorable Potato Salad, all was well. Meanwhile, Diane was very pleased with her Shrimp Basket with Skinny Fries that contained 10 hot, bronzed Fried Shrimps (4 extra on request). When people say they found a hidden gem ... this is definitely one. It's literally hidden! I've heard of this place on Facebook but never knew where it was and had never seen it. Our family decided to stop in for lunch, and we're glad we did. As I walked in, the first thing I noticed was the cool AC and cleanliness. Huge plus for me! The dining area is small with some booths against the wall and a couple of bigger tables on the other side. The have a bar with a pool table The ladies working were super sweet. The food was great, we ordered the rueben, and 2 different cheesesteaks. They dont have a kids' menu but still have options for everyone. My little one and picky teen ordered burgers. Highly recommend! Excellent service, cool nostalgic Chicago decor, and amazing food! The friendly waitress took her time explaining the menu and answering questions, never rushing us. I had the Mesquite chicken salad, and my husband had the Cubs Club sandwich, both delicious. Do not judge by the outside, as you need to go up the stairs and through the bar. read more

this hidden gem has some of the best Chicago food I've ever had. I the Italian beef with peppers. My brother had the California cheesesteak as did my friend and the food was so tasty. The owner chatted with us about the Cubs and the Bears she was great. This is a small restaurant within a small hotel/casino off the beaten track of the main casino row in Laughlin. Their menu has something for everyone. Our once a month lunch bunch went here and we all enjoyed the food and the owner was our server and she was friendly and funny! Last summer, I drove about 5 miles from my hotel specifically to get my fix at Bruce's Taste of Chicago. I made sure it was at least 20 minutes before closing to order a Chicago dog and fries to go. I had lived in Illinois as a child and wanted a bit of nostalgia, as I saw posted somewhere long before my Laughlin trip that this eatery existed. I was really happy to know that there was this hidden gem nearby. When I got there, I was turned away by Brandie, she said that they were very busy. She wrote on a menu that she would give me a discount on my next visit. I'm not local, but I understood and left hungry, without food and disappointed. Fast forward to recent, I went on a Sunday around 4 pm and placed my order and waited under 10 minutes. I can see why others would say that Brandie is rude. I wouldn't say she's rude. I think she's just very short. She wants to be efficient. As I left, I had remembered the discount but lord knows where that paper menu is...LOL As for the food: it was good. Although I was expecting the bright neon green relish that is traditionally on a Chicago dog. The fries were good, I might pass on the slaw next time, because the nachos look great. It's only about 3 miles past Harrah's and so worth the drive. It's at the backside of the hotel. Brandie thoroughly explained the menu and suggested we try different things to share. I ordered the Cal-Nev-Ari cheesesteak with chicken spicy 1x. It was great but next time I would get it spicier. My side was potato salad which my husband thought was better than the hand cut fries. He ordered the hot beef sandwich. Loved it. Food and service were excellent. read more

How did it take us so long to finally get here? I have been waiting to try this place off reviews alone, but this seemed like more a lunch than dinner place. We checked into Harrahs and decided to hit dinner..not wanting to drive all the way to Bullhead, I reminded Hubby that this restaurant was just down the road. Got there around 5 pm and we were the only ones there on a Wednesday evening. I autumn the owner greeted us...super sweet. Looked at the menu and I was wanting a Chicago dog, but the sauerkraut was screaming my name so I ordered that with a side of potato salad. Hub, be the picky eater he is orders the beef and cheddar, that has no condiments...the way he likes it. He got the fries. Noticed there were some good beer prices, but we opted for a water and diet Dr Pepper. Food arrives..it looks beautiful. I take one bite of my dog and felt the snap...so dang good. The potato salad tastes like my mothers..just wonderful and had just been homemade in the kitchen. Hub took a bite of his beef sandwich and was in complete silence for a full minute...I asked was it good and as good as the best one he has ever had...his reply...this one is FAR better. He almost had a tear in his eye..he said..we are always coming here when visiting Laughlin...I have to agree. Check this place out! YES, it is worth the drive. It isn't far. park behind the motel, go up the stairs. You don't have to walk thru the bar first. go to the other set of stairs. If you are a Chicago sports fan, wait until you see the walls. Have fun! The waitress was amazing. She even told us if we don't like the ac on us where not to sit so, we won't be cold. The Chicago dog did not have the dark green relish or peppers. It did have relish and jalapeño. The waitress warned us. But it still was very good. The steak sandwiches were very tasty. the portions of the food were good. We walked out fat and happy. read more

This is a small little restaurant with such delicious and tasty food! The Chicago style hotdog was excellent, fresh and tasty! The BBQ dip sandwich was nice with the Baby Rays BBQ sauce! We met another couple last night at Bruce's after a stranger told us about the place AND watching the Facebook (BHC) story on them. Gotta say the Cheese Steaks are amazing. We've been to Pat's and Gino's in Philly the home of the cheese steak. Well, they got a new home in Laughlin at Bruce's! Lean flavor that exploded with the cheeses, jalapeños (If ya like a little spice) and the sides.....homemade coleslaw and potato salad! Brandi our server and (sorry can't remember the bartenders name) were excellent and entertaining too! This is a local hang out I suspect looking at all the folks who didn't look like tourists. If ya want a cheese steak, Ruben or pastrami.........and the meet all comes from Chicago along with the Vienna Hot Dogs.........this place won't disappoint. When you're in Laughlin, DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE! If not for Yelp, we never would have come across this hidden gem, but we're so glad we did! My wife, born and raised on the east coast but living in Arizona the past 20+ years said she hadn't had cheesesteak like that since she was "back home". Me being a lifelong desert dweller and not knowing the difference can only say that it was the best I've ever had. And the RUBEN? BEST. EVER. And I've had a few of those in my day. Hand cut fries too. Wish I had room to try the Chicago Dog and other menu items, but will certainly go back and do so next time I'm in town. This little place, four miles south of the casinos has the best food in the whole area. The nice couple that own it show genuine concern for putting out a good product . Hot dogs were great. I got two with mustard and sauerkraut: delicious. Had that skin on them making them snap when you bit them. My wife got the chili dog with fries. Hot dog was wonderful and the fries were amazing. Definitely will be going back the next time we are in town. The servers were very friendly and sociable. read more
