I'm only giving one star because I cannot give a zero. I wish I had listened to the review of Blaine and Lung. I had them sell some antique furniture in the auction. Of 12 pieces, they sold 8 at a price much lower than their estimate. It took 3 months to get the check. When asked about the remaining 4 pieces I was told that they were probably in the building somewhere but did not have enough sale value for them to find them. Purchased a "English Fuse Bracket Clock" from them via online auctions. Called before bidding and asked if fully functions and was assured it was. When it arrived the clock would not even wind up as the barrel spring was broken. The entire mechanism of the clock smelled like WD40 . Will cost $1800 to repair. Run from these folks. read more

Update: After several messages and complaints we finally received a check in the mail. I think we finally had to complain through Live Auctioneers (the online platform that hosts their live auctions) and although they are a 3rd party, it may have helped since they had another auction scheduled. I added a star to be fair since we finally received a refund. However, I would not risk it again in the future. read more

If you've never been to an auction before, this is a great one to start with. Be prepared to sit amongst the sharks though as I am pretty sure this is where most of SoBo's antique stores get their loot. Whether you want a desk lamp, a library table or a 4 piece antique furniture suite including armoire - this auction has it all. They do have snacks like popcorn and nachos which you will see many husbands quietly munching on. I scored a very nice Arts & Crafts library table and tiffany style floor lamp for under $200, a deal I am proud of to this day. Make sure you come in a truck or van so you can haul your treasures away. read more

Bruhns Auction helped me in conducting an estate sale for an estate of mainly tools, cars, auto parts and assorted outside "stuff." The staff kept all appointments and the set up was efficient and professional. The accounting for items sold was completely accurate and the payment was timely within the terms of the contract. Did the estate receive "top dollar" for everything that was sold? Probably not, but the auctioneer accomplished the goal of emptying the property so we did not have to haul away or clean up a single item at the end of the day. if i could give zero stars, i would. i have been trying via email and phone for 4 months to get the item i paid for in february (yes, february and it is now mid-june). as the item was over $500, it is a felony theft and is being reported and a case opened with the denver police department. enough, already! give me my damned painting!!! read more

Unfortunately, my review is a negative one. We have been trying to reach Bruhn's Auction Gallery via phone at (303) 744-6505 as well as via email Bruhnsaction@aol.com regarding 2 items we won from them back in September via liveauctioneers.com. We have tried to contact them numerous times and have not received a call or email back. We won 2 item, a buffet and a gold "gilded" mirror. What we receive was a buffet with the same distention BUT NOT AT ALL what was shown online! The carvings were completely different and it was not the same color or finish! The "gilded" mirror was also not correct! It was clearly visible that it was SPRAYED cheap gold definitely NOT gilded! It was CLEAR to see these were NOT the items i had bid on! and i was very disappointed! Their customer service is sloppy and unprofessional! Not even a lousy email response! This problem could have easily been solved with a refund and return of items! Unfortunately i had no choice but to take legal action! Since they DO NOT accept credit card (a red flag!) I had to pay with a check and could not file a dispute and could not get my money back! I would not recommend using this action house in the future! Lesson learned! buyers beware! read more

I was disappointed in the sale of my mother's estate items and I called more than 5X and emailed at least as many times and never received contact back from the principal after the auction. I attempted to gain feedback after the auction and finally, after multiple repeated tries, caught the wife in the office. A good thing because I needed to pick up several items that did not sell and they did not make an attempt to contact me. One item, a grandfather clock that my parents purchased in Germany and was appraised as authentic 1850s was listed at $1,200 in their catalog and sold at $450, that is disgraceful especially since I had a lengthy conversation with them in person about the piece and was prepared to take it back before it sold. I was assured it was in "good hands" I felt they took advantage of my mother's declining health and our need to sell off her estate items to support her care. They were unpleasant and I do believe there was dishonesty involved. I would never recommend them. For your silver and gold, contact Trice Jewelers or David Ellis. The only reason I gave them one star is because you can't post without at least one, otherwise, I would not rate them with any stars at all! read more

Zero wasn't an option. We attended their auction last Saturday. We live 5 hours away and wanted to get home at a decent hour so after getting what we most wanted, we left absentee bids for about 6 other items and made arrangements for a friend to pick them up if we won. We were assured we'd get an email confirmation on Monday which we did not. We checked the sell prices and should have won 3 of our items. We called and left voicemail, we emailed and finally contacted the online auction site they used who then also emailed them asking them to address our concerns. No response. I'm guessing our absentee bid sheet got tossed and they are too unprofessional to even let us know. Don't waste your time. read more

I would be very cautious when passing through these doors as you are like a sitting duck in here.. I am an experienced buyer and from my personal experience can attest to the following: A. Tom will run up the bid by signaling a counter offer when there is none and then push it back to you at the next highest bid increment before you get your hand down. B. Tom will sell you an item at the highest price in the auction and then say that the seller was in the room and did not like the price and therefore no sale - go away. C. Auctioneers are like the most unscrupulous unregulated stock brokerage you can think of, making markets that appear free but are manipulated at the expense of the participants and the enrichment of the brokerage (auctioneer and family)/ D. AS far as Tara's experience, I can say that I too have come away with smiles from this auction BUT BUT BUT, I also know that I own things that were pushed back to me from the highest price to yet another higher price that I did not offer but was awarded, and I do not own things which I was sold but then told the price was not high enough when I went to pick up my winnings. read more

I just bought a clock from Bruhns Auction Gallery. The clock is supposedly a WWII AF clock. I asked them to write me a letter stating that their auction house believed the clock to authentic. They ignored several email requests and phone contact to do this. I also asked them to provide the provenance of the clock. They did not bother to respond. A world authority on this type of clock stated that he believe it was a fake and had known of it prior to the auction. Also, he mentioned that the serial numbers did not fit the time period for this type of clock. I tried to work with them, they would not bend. If you buy from them you cannot be sure of what you are getting. They will not provide support after the sale. read more

These people are crooks, and if I could give them zero stars I certainly would. I won a lot through LiveAuctioneers, and after I promptly paid for the item I called to arrange shipping. I was told by the man who answered that they had a truck coming through on the way to DC and he would probably be able to get it on there--he would call me back with details. After the truck was supposed to have come and gone, and I had not received a call, I called them back and was told by this same man that there had not been room on the truck and to "be patient" and that another would come through and they would let me know when that happened. After a few months of no contact, I started calling and emailing them to see what was going on. The voicemail attached to the phone number was always full so you could not leave a message. My emails went unanswered. I assumed they had gone out of business quite honestly, but continued to try and get in touch with them. A few weeks later I saw that they had posted a new sale, and low and behold, there was MY item that they were re-selling. I continued to email and call them to let them know they were NOT to sell the chest, with the same results. The chest was resold, my money was stolen, and to this day I have never heard from them. I strongly urge potential buyers to beware of this auction gallery. I used the liveauctioneers.com website to bid on AND WIN a pair of lamps at Bruhns Auction Gallery. There was no question that I won the pair, as I was repeatedly able to confirm that win on the liveauctioneers.com website. So, after a couple of days of waiting to hear from Bruhns about how to settle my debt (the usual routine when winning an item on liveauctioneers.com), I called them and left a message. No one called me back. So, I tried a few more times and finally got someone to answer the phone. They acknowledged that I won the lamps, but told me they could not find the lamps and they had no idea where they were. They said, "maybe someone stole them". Someone stole the two lamps? Really? I insisted on speaking with someone more senior and was told that someone would call me back. But, no one ever called. I called and called and repeatedly left messages, but no one ever called me back. If you check the other yelp! reviews, you will see not responding to calls a is standard operating procedure with this company. I have bid on and won items at more than a hundred other auction galleries but have never had an experience like this. I am assuming that since I won the lot at a fairly modest amount, and since the lot was worth more, the gallery either held my lamps back to try to get more money privately, or in fact, may had already sold them to another interested party who was willing to pay more. Of course, that's just a theory, since I can't be sure. But, I absolutely do not believe that two lamps were "lost", particularly since no one ever had the decency to respond to my repeated messages. If they really lost my lamps, they should have been falling over themselves with apologies and remorse.....but not one apology by even the jr. clerk I spoke to. I feel this company is completely disreputable and it appears from four of the other yelp! reviews that this is more than just a trend with Bruhns......rather it appears to be their business model. I urge you not to do business with this company, either as a consignor or a buyer. They seem to be able to find a way to disappoint, regardless. read more
