The cakes are meaty, just-right-crispy and delicious and they are served perched on a bed of gorgeous greens. The greens are lightly dressed in a lovely vinaigrette and topped with perfectly roasted veggies and feta. YUM! We also ordered the artichoke and spinach dip. Delicious. AND served with plenty of yummy crostini for dipping. So many places skimp on the dippers, and it's always annoying. Not so at The Walrus. Service was prompt, friendly, attentive and efficient. If I'm ever back in Bismarck, I'll be campaigning for a return visit. Until then, I'll be dreaming about those crab cakes.

Service was great, like most places in Bismarck, people are friendly. I love that. Saturday night around 6:30 there was no wait and we got to a table right away. Drinks were good, but the fresh bread they brought out was great! We started with the bone marrow appetizer, we liked it. It could have used a bit more seasoning and would have greatly benefited from a lemon wedge to balance the richness. I ordered the New York strip with Jack Daniels peppercorn sauce, and this is where the real problems started. The steak was way overcooked and under seasoned. The sauce had almost no flavor at all. The chewy peppercorns were the most entertaining part of the whole dish. I had planned to just eat it and not make a fuss; however, our server noticed the steak was overdone and offered to get me a new one. I said sure, thanks. No more than five minutes he pops back with a new steak. He told us that this one was ready but the other order was waiting on their pasta so they would fire a new one for the other table. I cut into the new one and it was more overdone than the first one. Now we have a bit of a situation and I felt somehow it was my place to solve it. I agreed to eat the new bad steak, so the other table could get one and we were both not having dinner. Quite the kerfuffle, when I had intended to just eat the first steak. When it was all said and done, I ate about half the new steak and a quarter of the first one, so it is not like I went hungry. The server came back and explained they were having some technical issues with kitchen thermometers and that he was going to take some of the price of the steak off our ticket. I feel this was a mistake. A gift card to give them another try or comping the whole steak would have been more appropriate. In all fairness though, the broken thermometer was not at fault for flavorless sauce, or the in seasoned steak.

We ordered a lobster bisque, Caesar salad, and crab cakes for starters. The lobster bisque was very, very bland--even for me! And I never add salt to anything, not even to most of my cooking lol! My husband was dousing it constantly. Unfortunately, even with all the added salt, it was tasteless. The crab cakes were ok, and the Caesar salad was standard. I ordered the pecan-crusted walleye for myself--it seemed a bit overcooked and I ended up eating only half. We tried chocolate cake for dessert and it was also just ok, a bit dry and also bland, surprisingly. I hate to give this place a lower rating because it's hard enough as it is to come by a fanciful restaurant in such a small town. They're trying, but need to step it up in the taste & preparation department.

This is the best pizza in town by far!! They usually have very good deals; either a medium with any toppings for $12.99, or a large with any toppings for $14.99. Can't beat that!! They always have 2 for 1 beer on tap and in bottles. CHEAP!!!! Their appetizers are really good. This is the only restaurant where we ever get an appetizer, but they are so good we can't pass them up. Many different specialty pizzas, and those count as the special, too. Worth checking out. We never go anywhere else for pizza. The only con is they don't deliver to my house, which is not very far away but it is off of their map. Most places in Bismarck are farther than my house; just saying.... :) read more

ordered twice now, i love their pizza, better than the hut and better than dommin's great fast service, leave it at the door with a knock and bell, brought the parmesan and peppers that i wanted (unlike the others), the only place i will buy pizza from now on, yummy... i actually made a mistake choosing them cuz a was gonna order from another, *wrong click of hte mouse) never ordered from them before, happy mistake, now going to go to website for next order to find out what else they have. seriously got here same time as the others, and the others are close by, brunos are downtown and i am by the interstate, i'm happy read more

Traveling from out of town, I always try to find local restaurants to try instead of usual chain restaurants that are everywhere. On my business trip to Bismarck this time I was in the mood for pizza and came across Bruno's. Although the prices were a little higher than the national chains the pizza was delicious and well worth the price!! They had a lot of different choices of toppings to choose from, I ended up going with the Taco Pizza and I would definately recommend it !! Next time I'm in town, I'll stop over! read more

The cheese, freshly made tomato sauce and crust are perfection! They use a NY water filtration system which helps give the dough and crust its authentic texture. The owner and staff are very friendly and accommodating, when I arrived they didn't have any new slices out but they very readily offered to make a new pepperoni pizza just so I could have two fresh slices, outstanding. My pepperoni slices were absolutely delicious not to mention big, foldable and very filling as they should be. Will definitely be going back again and am looking forward to trying some of their other entrees such as their calzones and gyros.

It looks like they rotate their soups and if the wild rice soup would've been available I totally would've ordered that because that is not something I can get anywhere outside of North Dakota. The staff are friendly, and the line moves pretty quick. The food comes out relatively fast. I loved my sandwich from here and I wish it was closer because I would probably get sandwiches all the time. We were the table that was cracking up in the back and stayed there until you closed.
