I'm a New York culinary professional that's been in the culinary business for over 20 years. I knew when I opened the box it was hometown goodness. Crispy thin crust goodness just the way it's supposed to be.

A disappointing, dry, tasteless pizza from Bruno's North.

. I lived in Chicago for 10 years, I've had GOOD pizza. When I saw this particular Bruno's had new owners I was hopeful that there might be a GOOD pizza joint on the North Side of South Bend. I was wrong. Just on a whim I pulled in here and ordered a plain cheese pizza. My theory is if a place can make a GOOD cheese pizza then all of their other pizzas should be GOOD! I got a 12" pie for $13.91- a little pricey for a plain cheese pizza, but IF it's REALLY good then it might be worth it. I was in here at 9:15 on a Tuesday night and no one else was in the restaurant. While I was waiting for my pie to bake they received one phone order in about 20 minutes- they were not busy. I told the new owners how I had been in here about 9 months ago and the pizza was not very good and he promised me this was going to be a GOOD pizza! The 2 people working here continued to talk-up their pizza as I waited. I got home and snapped a photo first thing. I took a bite and immediately knew this was going to be disappointing. The pizza had almost NO sauce on it! (I took a photo!) The sauce is the flavor! Everything else is just greasy cheese and dry crust! I picked around the pie, thinking maybe the sauce was just uneven and I happened to get a "dry" slice. There was almost no sauce on most of the pizza. I could see a little red along the edge of the crust, but most of the pizza was dry, flavorless, worthless. I threw over half the pizza (and my money!) away. (see photos)

Delicious pizza! And this was the regular crust!

A very pleasant surprise! Homemade vinegarette salad dressing was wonderful! Combination pizza was delicious and beautiful! Lots and lots of cheese!

    Inside temperature

Good food but when I ordered and paid I was asked to select a tip amount and sign..... better to give the customer the option of tiping. Outside temp was 90 degrees.... inside temp was 89 per the thermostat. Staff offered no apology for the temperature.

    Chicken BBQ Pizza love it!!

Expensive but worth it. I live 90 minutes away but parents are 10 minutes. Considering buying a thermo bag for the ride home

The best pizza in town. Family run and great service. We pickup pizza from here at least once a month sometimes 3x a month.

I LOVE brunos pizza. Their large is HUGE. Their sausage is a little spicey just the way I like it. The buffet is quite the deal.

Saying the owner, Jesse, went above and beyond to make sure all went smoothly is an understatement. He and his staff (special shout-out to Rachel) were friendly and courteous. I am very much looking forward to being in the area again and dining in next time. Sounds like I will need to try the buffalo dip...along with one of the desserts!

Where do I even begin? Our server even called this place a dumpster fire! The only positives I can…read moresay is that the food is good but the service is horrendous. MANY patrons were MAD. We waited for over an hour to be seated (when the gal at the front said we'd be seated right away) then we waited for 2 hours for our food and when we get it, it's missing several ingredients...because they're out. Oh and the best part is when all the cooks left the kitchen and sat in a circle in the dining room for 15 or so minutes. The owner was also there...sitting at the bar with a drink. Why wasn't he helping bus tables, cook, GO TO THE STORE TO GET INGREDIENTS THEY RAN OUT OF??? This was during their busiest rush. What in the world???? Excuse was made that it's St. Joe's prom and all their employees are at the prom. Unreal! 1 star because food is decent but we will not return.

The food tasted homemade in the best way and the onion rings and jojos were also great. The owner was one of the nicest people we've met in a long time. You can tell he genuinely cares about the place and the people who walk through the door. The restaurant has so much character and nostalgia to it. Between the vintage milkshake machine and the old-school neighborhood feel, it's the kind of local spot that's becoming harder to find. It's also only a few minutes from the airport, making it an easy stop if you're passing through South Bend. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town.

Five stars. The service? Far and beyond. Jerry was the very best... making recommendations, sharing more on the history of the establishment (including a historic ice cream machine), and cooking a delicious meal. The place is cute and unassuming- it almost felt like sitting in someone's living room which further added to its charm. Jerry shared that they decorate for every holiday too which must be fun! We would certainly return to try the sandwiches and milkshakes the next time we are in South Bend! :)

We got there around 5:00 PM while things were just getting busy. It had a nice vibe to it. You could tell people enjoy coming here. I started off the order with an item off their monthly menu specials. The muffuletta pizza. Very nice with a great flavor. My wife loved every bite of her braised beef sliders and cole slaw. We also have this obsession with ordering Brussels sprouts when we go out and they're available. I will give the sprouts 3 out of 5 because they had way too much balsamic vinegar on them. This rating doesn't bring my overall rating down because it's likely they are very good any other time. As if all that weren't enough to eat, we ordered the 8" Cinnamon Streusel pizza with vanilla bean ice cream off their seasonal monthly menu. Oh boy was that good!! If given the opportunity to come back to South Bend, this will be my go to place. PS... I'm not a beer drinker, but it seems they have lots of craft beer on tap. It's considered a gastropub. There's plenty of seating inside and outside. Some outside seating is covered and nice of it raining but still warm out. There is a patio area that's quite large. It looks like and has a feel of a biergarten.
