Popped in, briefly, to attend my GodDaughter's birthday party. Although the party room is tucked away in a hard to reach spot, everything else seemed pretty cut and dry for a bowling alley. They had a bout 4 arcade machines (1 didn't work), 2 Claw machines, and a pretty cool punching bag game. All the kids appeared to enjoy the bowling and the bowling alley seemed pretty clean. The staff was pretty meh, nothing too special. Just seemed like they were doing their job. I ordered some fried mushrooms and they came out pretty quick. They had a jug with water, in the food area, where I'm guessing everyone serves themselves. A few parents were in the bar area, which looked nice. Overall, just a regular bowling alley. It's an A-Ok place to bowl if you're south of L street. Even though we waited over and hour to get our lanes for a birthday party and was promised two games we only got in 1 because we had to be off the lanes by 830. While we waited, we went to the bar and there was a 69th birthday party happening and thEy ran out of almost all of draft beers. Went there the other day with a group of 10 people for open bowl on a Friday night. Called before we came and was told the open bowl was first come first serve and nothing could be reserved. Okay, no big deal! We got there and went up to the lady at the front to see if they had open lanes, they did not so we put on names on the wait list. The woman was less than nice and let it be known she was annoyed with having to deal with so many people. We decided to go wait in the restaurant area and order food. We went up to order food and the woman taking the orders was extremely rude. She acted as though we were inconveniencing her, spending $150 on food for 10 people. Nothing was specialty ordered or anything like that. She was busy, which I get, but she did not have to be rude. Did not think it could get much worse until the food came out. It was TERRIBLE. Don't get me wrong, I know it is a bowling alley and did not expect a 5-star burger, but for $13, McDonalds would have been better. read more

We have just got home from being kicked out of the bowling place. The management is horrible, their equipment is outdated cause the pin protector not move up at all. They blamed is hitting a ball against the rail accident. They shut down our lane with 30 minutes left for hitting the rail and the management didn't tell us. The place itself isn't that bad, the lanes are nice. It's not super roomy though. If you have more than 4 people you feel pretty cramped. The food was large portions for a fair price as well. I feel like the bowling itself was pretty expensive. It was 40 dollars for the two of us to cosmic bowl. That's a lot to just bowl. We also had to wait a long time to be able to begin bowling. My problem with this place is the weird rules. They told me that you can't get water in here unless you pay for a bottle out of the vending machine. I talked to table next to me and they said after asking for an hour they were finally able to PURCHASE a pitcher of water. We paid 20 a person to bowl here during cosmic bowling so you should be able to get all the cups of water that you want! I don't think I would come back. Babystting three kids under 12 for the weekend, looking for something to do that a) amuses and 2) involves food (of course). Per the website's recommendation, Friday I call to double check that there's open bowling Saturday. "Of course", they say, "all day, from 9:30 a.m. until midnight." When I arrived with my charges in tow, the (very friendly) guys at the counter inform me that open bowling is available, but only until 1 p.m. Fine...it's 11 a.m. I can make that work. After all, I'm also there for the fried fatty snack bar treats. We settle in and get our game started. I collect our food orders (cheeseburgers, hot dogs, french fries, fried mushrooms and gallons of soda under the guise of small, medium and large). When I get to the snack bar at 11:30 a.m., it's completely vacated, so I ask the (again, friendly) guys at the main counter if food is being served and they promise to send someone over. Snack bar lady...super friendly yet frazzled. She takes our orders and we're back rolling balls down the alley (missing pins left and right), looking forward to our Saturday afternoon fried meal. 11:45....12:00...12:15....12:30.... how long does it take to throw all those items in the fry basket? Answer. 45 minutes. We got our snacks (finally) and wrapped up our second game (in time for the 1 p.m. cut off). $65 gets you: 6 pairs of bowling shoes, 10 games of bowling, 2 hot cocoas, 2 med ice teas, 2 sm sodas, 1 hot dog, 3 cheeseburgers, 3 large fries, fried mushrooms and fried cauliflower. Gonna try out another bowling alley next time. Had a great time, but hated that we had to be out by 1 p.m. (after verifying over the phone). PS - Get the snack bar lady some help! read more

We just got home from celebrating my 10 year old's birthday at Mockingbird Lanes. I reserved a birthday party package for her earlier in the week. Super easy. Quick phone call and per my choice I stopped in that evening to pay my deposit. The party was set to start at 1pm. We arrived ten minutes beforehand, and everything was already set up. Cups, plates, balloons, and even a Happy Birthday message on the TV screens. The front desk people were super friendly and helpful. The grill staff, not so much. First trip to the grill was to order food/snacks for the adults. The young man working could barely ignore his cell phone enough to take our order. Second trip was to ask where our pizzas were (included in the party package), and we were told they would be brought up to our table after the first game was completed. Didn't happen. We received both pizzas halfway through our second game, with only about 20 minutes left for our party. The bowling was fun, and the kids had a blast. I took two stars away for the sub-par grill service. I would NOT have another birthday party at Mockingbird Lanes. read more

We actually left after a.) seeing that there are actually more games to play at any random Buffalo Wild Wings; b.) realizing that I wasn't going to be able to endure the smell of grease and rubber; and c.) our kids decided that they would rather play at the hotel pool that bowl/play/ eat here. However, they will not give you free water; you MUST buy it because the owner doesn't want anyone to use their cups for their own alcohol. My birthday today. Looking for something fun to do after dinner with my family and we decided to go bowling. It was last minute, so we looked online for lanes that were open after 9PM. We had been here before and had a great time, so we decided to try here first. Online it said the lanes were open until midnight. Plenty of time to get a game in. I made the decision to go there for my birthday, but it ended up as a nightmare. It seemed like it would be a fun place for my family. We got there a little to early before the league bowling was over. So we just stood around trying to kill the last 15mins. My baby starts crying so I go clean her bottle and ask for a cup of water from the counter. The lady trys to charge me 25 cents for the cup of water. But I finaly she just gave me a cup so I could fill up the bottle. We try feeding my daughter in her car seat but she was being fussy. Then my brother in law points out that there is a open table so my wife went and phyically handicapped friend went to set down because there feet were beginning to hurt. My mom (much older) walks on the floor didnt even sit down just steps on a corner of the white floor and a league bowler yells at her and tell her dont walk on the floor with your dirty street shoes. Then I tell the league bowler why does she have her street shoes on ( because she is about to leave). She gets really mad and tells us that we shouldnt be over here and we are disprupting the league. We tried to explain that the only reason we were over there was because of the baby and my friend. Which she gave some snotty respose and the fighting became worse. She ended up calling my wifes mother( who just died less than a year ago) a bitch. My wife runs off in tears and a employee wering a grey polo with no logo or name tag comes up laughing and then applogizes for her behavior. I tell him he has lost his business from us because we are all leaving. I go comfort my wife and try to put my baby in her car seat then. The league bowler walks by and says "way to pull the baby and tard card". She says this right in front of my friend who is physically handicapped not mentally. This really made everyone mad so we go complain to the manager ( who was no where in sight for this whole argument) and tell him what has happened he says dont worry I will take care of It.
