1st visit for High School reunion. Gigantic place with an open atmosphere. Excellent viewing angles of the hundreds of televisions for horse betting or just watching your favorite sports team. Service for food & drinks was very efficient. Food was hot, cooked just right(had the meatloaf special) and tasty. Recommend for any family or group gathering. Wife and I went here for, hopefully, a quite bite. It wasn't to be. Sat for awhile til we got waited on. To be fair, only Stacie was on duty for the whole table section and bar. Many other servers were just passing by like it was a walk in the park. I finally had to wave menus asking if anyone was waiting on this table and got a terse remark from one that was just strolling by. Took our order and it arrived shortly. Was hot and good. I had quesadillas and wife had BLT. Both very good. Stacie DID find the time to come back and apologize for service and I ordered another W/sour. She came back with bill and we paid and left tip in short time. Now, I realize the staff shortage in many places. That doesn't excuse the passing by of staff members. Some could be grabbing a glass or plate off a table, saying I'll be right with you, etc. Wasn't so here. Stacie seemed to be alone in service. Our quick bite was not to be. read more

Had their 6.95 special of 6oz filet and fried shrimp last Saturday night. I have got to say that you will not find a better deal on a filet and shrimp that tastes this good. The shrimp were your basic frozen butterflied but still good and the filet was cooked perfect - also came with a baked potato and a dinner roll. I see they have a good variety of value priced lunch specials - can't wait to try some of them. read more

For years when my grandparents would come to visit, Grandpa would go to Aksarben to bet on the horse races. Now, he goes here. I had never been to Horseman's until I participated in a golf outing in which my team came in last... and won the fantastic last-place prize of a table and food here for the Kentucky Derby. If you're going to go one day of the year, that's definitely the day. But if you want a table, get there early! They even start giving away the reserved tables eventually, the place fills up so fast. This place is catered to betters, so make sure you take with you at least one person who knows what the difference between a racing form and a program is. Food, drinks, service - it's all what you'd expect from a place where they want to keep you happy to keep you gambling. My only qualm with the place was that when we were there (2008), there was still a 'smoking section' (which had absolutely no separation from the other areas). But with the new smoking law, theres no smoking indoors. read more

After many years of saying I would check out live horse racing here we finally did it. First, this place definitely offers some free child friendly activities such as a petting zoo, pony rides and face painting, but I recommend leaving the kiddos at home. With small children, the beer tents, crowd and great local bands, it becomes a bit difficult to navigate. My husband and I were saying we would have a great time just the two of us. On this weekend all reserved seating was sold out but we easily got a spot at the fence for front row observation of the racing which was awesome. Parking is a struggle for live horse racing. All lots were full so we ended up parking at a random business about 5 blocks away. Food was nothing to rave about, I think this place could really benefit from adding some local food trucks. Overall, we had a great time and will be back! read more

Absolutely the WORST service I have ever had in my life. All the female bartenders ignored me and the gentleman next to me until I walked away. Then he and my boyfriend were miraculously seen!! On top of that, we ordered mint juleps...which somehow didn't have mint even though we saw a whole pitcher full of fresh mint leaves. I worked in service industry for 10 years, and this was the first time I didn't tip. If you want a drink here, I suggest bringing it yourself. read more

Went to live racing at Horseman's Park this weekend. What a fun and unique place! They always have simulcast horse racing, but a few days a year, they bring in live horses! They run every 30 minutes leaving you plenty of time to grab a drink and place a bet. There's makeshift bar areas all over the inside and out, and betting stations too. Grandstands are outside and a gazillion tables and TVs inside. Parking was great. There's a giant field behind the place where you park and air conditioned shuttles drive you to the door. When we left, the shuttle driver took is directly to our car! How often does that happen? We didn't try the food, but from what we saw, it looked great! Bottom line: Fun and different! Great set up. My husband and I used to come here with friends usually on Fridays because they would have their Friday special which was prime rib with au ju, baked potato, corn, and a biskit for only around six bucks. With a pretty cool atmosphere they have a bar and tv everywhere to watch the horse races and bet on if you like. read more

My son and I went there May 21, 2016 for the live racing and were pushed around by security, who were treating everyone like total crap. First of all, I believe by charging people $5 to enter the place was ridiculous and by them knowing that, they added a lot of security because they knew it would cause trouble. It was the worst experience I've ever gone through and I will never recommend this place or return to Horsemen's Park again. read more

Horseman's Park is a hidden gem in Omaha for those that love horse racing, like good food at very reasonable prices, with some excitement thrown in, that need a place to hold a special event that most of your attendees won't have experienced before, or if you just want a bit of a change of pace. The staff is generally very friendly and accomodating, the food is good and reasonably priced, and the menu includes items you wouldn't typically expect at a horse track/simulcast facility. Of course, the horse racing is a huge part of Horseman's and Horseman's is clearly taking big steps to attract new horse players and to create new and interesting opportunities for the older rail birds out there. If you're new to the game, Horseman's has a Director of Fan Education that holds seminars to teach new players how to understand the races, how to pick horses and that also gives opportunities for new players to win some introductory competitions against other new players, instead of feeling overmatched by the regulars. Horseman's is also great if you want to wager ahead of an event - you can stop in the day before the Kentucky Derby, for example, and place your bets so that you can attend your private Derby parties or if you have other things going on that prevent you from making it to the track on that day. If you do make it to the track on that day, however, expect to have a great time as Horseman's will be full of excited people enjoying a national spectacle together. All in all, if you already love horse racing, then you have to make it to Horseman's. If you don't know anything at all about horse racing, but want a new experience that you won't get anywhere else, or if you have some interest but have always been intimidated by the process, then you definitely should make it out to Horseman's and take advantage of some of the new player opportunities available to you. read more

Horsemen's is a great place to spend an afternoon. Once you know the basics of reading a form and how to bet, most folks are hooked. Luckily Horseman's has really great educational seminars for new horse players, usually on Saturday afternoons with some neat opportunities to win wagering vouchers. They put on a fantastic show for the Triple Crown races, and you can get your Derby bets in early if you, say, have to go to a meeting that day (lookin at you, Berkies). The live race meet is really fantastic, especially now that it's held earlier when the weather isn't so hot. The simulcast facility is really extensive and the atmosphere on big race days is communal and exiting. The food is solid (I like that they offer a cheese and fruit plate), the bar offerings are standard. While I personally would like to see a few craft beers, nobody has seen me turn down a Miller Lite. Whether you know much about playing ponies or not, it is simply worth a trip to see if you like it. My best advice is to always bet the grey, but for a more seasoned education, talk to Fred Robertson, the friendliest guy in the world who also happens to be Director of Fan Education. For a unique change of pace, this is a really great option. read more
