At the advice of a server in another establishment, we went looking for some great Italian food our last night in Tahoe. Don't let the lack of curb appeal throw you, the interior is charming and set up well for intimate or larger parties. We came without a reservation and waited 5-10 minutes for a table. For a Tuesday night, the place was packed and lively. We ordered a delicious Brunello, the signature bruschetta and the Mac and cheese croquettes for starters. Entrees were a pasta and tomato sauce, the pasta with wild boar, and of course, the 20 layer lasagna. Everything is made in house and you can absolutely taste the love and attention to detail. The service was fast and friendly, and the owner came out and stopped by the table for a quick chat, telling us the story of how he came to Tahoe and the beginnings of this charming little place. There is something special about Italian food, that brings a celebratory and familial vibe to a meal like no other. This was absolutely that place. We'll be back the next time we're in the area! read more

So my family and I made a road trip out to Lake Tahoe and this place was definitely amazing that we went there for dinner twice. It's really clean. It's quiet. Wow, I'm hearing good things about a new restaurant in a very competitive town. First, the food, all of it, was excellent. Look at the pictures, you'll agree. We started with the Mussels with Fennel Sausage, moved on to the seasonal special Arugula salad with prosciutto, figs and burrata, and shared the special, which tonight was a serving of scallops with pork belly. The sausage, which was house made, was excellent and the broth that came with the mussels was so tasty I found myself wanting to lick the bowl. The salad was an arugula salad and well done. I love all the ingredients in this salad. I'm sucker for prosciutto, figs and burrata, and they were all presented well in this dish. The special was out of this world. I thought the scallops were cooked in a way that I totally enjoyed. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They had an excellent sauce on them and the pork belly was cooked to a level of excellence that needs to be tasted to fully appreciate. As is always the case, my wife and I share all the courses we eat, but I would have rather not for this one... I wanted every bite. It's a new restaurant and so you're supposed to give it some time to work out the kinks, aren't you? They still have some kinks to work out, and they, in my mind were minor, but enough of a concern that they need to be mentioned, especially if you want to be a 'go to' spot in a tourist town. What were the errors? We bought a bottle of good red wine (a bottle of Ridge Zinfandel), and it was served to us at a temperature above the room's temperature. I understand a room temperature red wine, but this was noticeably warm. We don't complain, as we're simply not built that way, and I'm trying to be nice here, and so I would encourage the establishment to reconsider their options for storing their wine prior to service. Beyond that, our silverware was cleared at one point, but no clean silverware was offered, and so when our entree arrived, we had to ask the server for silverware. To her credit we drink a lot of water, and our glasses were refreshed consistently throughout the meal. Again, these are minor concerns, but they do become noticeable when you are competing in a tourist market with four big casinos featuring restaurants called Wolf, Hell's Kitchen, Friday's Station, the Sage Room, and smaller places with a legacy like Evans and Cafe Fiore, and the list goes on. I've had a running dialog with a sommelier that I know, and he says, "The only thing that's important in a restaurant is the quality of the food! It trumps service every time." I argue, "The food is important, after all, that's why you're in the room, but if it's not served in professional fashion and you're paying a premium price, the quality of the food is undermined by the lack of great service." The debate goes on. Will we try it again? Yes, but it will be a while, and I'm sure they'll have the kinks worked out by then. read more

We tried this restaurant while visiting South Lake Tahoe. It was a Saturday and we arrived around 7:20pm. Our reservation was at 730pm. The place was packed and there was really no space to wait. We were seated at 7:48pm and our server came to our table at 7:55pm to take our drink orders. Drinks arrived at 8:01pm and then we put in our order. Food arrived at 8:25pm. Bread served only upon request. My boyfriend ordered the lasagna. It had good flavor and a generous portion. I ordered the lamb pappardelle. It was delicious! Pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. Blend of flavors was perfect. Portion was just right and lamb pieces were adequate. Parmesan fresh-grated upon request Our server said that the restaurant opened mid-2024. Only open for dinner and last seating is at 8:45pm. I am glad they are doing well. Restaurant is not that big so it is great that they accept reservations, but hope they seat people on time. Our server told us that perhaps they took in more walk ins that evening who went past the time they were expected to finish their meals. Perhaps, a small bench or designated waiting area especially during the winter when it is uncomfortable to wait outside. I did not use the restroom, but heard it was not in the restaurant (I think out in the hallway, shared by other establishments in the building). Limited parking. We will most likely return here the next time we are in Tahoe and I will post an updated review. read more

I love trying new restaurants in the Tahoe area. I came upon this Bruschetta place by reading an article in the local news site. This location used to be a French place a long time ago and then it turned into an Italian place, but the owner died unexpectedly, so now we have this new place Bruschetta. The interior is quite nice and the restroom is still outside down the hall. We arrived for lunch and basically had the whole place to ourselves. It's very European here with little things like the water is not served in a big ass glass with a ton of ice. It's served in small glasses without ice, as in Europe. There's no salt and pepper at the tables ... cause the chef has fix the food the way it's suppose to be eaten, so no mess'in with the flavor with that salt or pepper! The nice new silverware utensils I liked, nice and heavy and well balanced, none of that cheap forks from the coffee shop here! Speaking of forks, desserts are served with a spoon, not a fork, just like in Europe. I'm told this by my dining friend. Better to scoop the cream and sauces into your mouth. Service was good, being we were the only ones in the place. My friend ordered the Margherita Pizza ($20). I had the pasta of TAGLIATELLE with Pesto sauce and Fennel sausage ($20). Tagliatelle is similar to fettuccine cut pasta. We started with the Burschetta appetizer ($14.00), not on the lunch menu but the chef made it for us anyways. We brought our own beers as the liquor license is not ready yet ... it might be by now though. While we waited for the appetizer, our server brought us some house made bread sticks. Wonderfully crisp and light at the same time. The the Bruschetta appetizer arrived. OMG, was that plated so perfect, picture perfect! My first bite into it was OMG so wonderful, the texture of mouthfeel and flavors all working in a symphony of mouth explosion. The bread base was made so perfect so no too crunchy and not too soft. You need to get this if you come here! Next, the pizza and my pasta arrived. The pizza looked very nice, thin crust and real fresh toppings. I was a little taken aback by the smallish portion of my pesto pasta served in a medium sized bowl. I guess this is the European portion sizing, not the big ole plate of pasta American style. Upon scooping some into my mouth, I felt like there was just a little too much pesto for the amount of pasta, though tasty, more noodles would have been better. I did enjoy the flavor though. The pizza was good, nice and light, a 4 star pizza. We decided to share a dessert and that was the Tiramisu as it's one of my super fave desserts. It was served with spoons instead of forks .... actually makes sense. The Tiramisu ($9.00) was quite nice looking, but there was missing the real pronounced coffee flavor and cream. The dessert was made up more of the Lady Finger layers, so it seemed more like a Lady Finger cake rather than a traditional Tiramisu. That's just my take on what I was expecting, but this may just be the way the chef wanted his dish. It just didn't have that OMG feet dancing under the table feeling I get with some desserts. I'll have to come back for dinner, everybody seems to like the lasagna! read more

A friend of mine invited me, and I'm so glad that I went. I'm Italian, and was nearly in happy tears more than once during this meal. We had the shrimp appetizer, and you MUST order this if you go. I would have been happy with dipping bread into the sauce and just a salad. So delicious! I also got a caesar salad and while those are ubiquitous in American Italian restaurants, not everyone does them well. I really appreciated the bitter escarole (endive). It really balances the parmesan and the dressing. My friend had the linguini with clams and that was a lovely, light version. I ordered the papparedelle with wild boar. It was rich and flavorful. From a food critic's perspective, I would like to have seen them highlight the boar more and cook the pappardelle a bit less. It was hard to taste the boar separately from the rest of the dish. From a homesick Italian American's perspective, no notes - it was so comforting and delicious. For dessert, we had tiramisu and affogato. I'd go there just to have the afforgato anytime I wanted a rich, robust treat. The espresso was dark and rich, made very well. Earthy without tasting burned and very robust in its roast. The tiramisu was lovely as well. I had a bite of my friend's cannoli and it reminded me a lot of my godmother's recipe. A lovely meal! The service was great, very nice folks. When I followed up, the server responded with a noticeable attitude and came across as abrasive. Her explanation was that they were busy, but being busy doesn't justify dismissive or unfriendly service. Good food can only carry a place so far. We will definitely be back! We didn't even know this restaurant existed until the night before last, when a friend told us about it. I booked a dinner reservation that night for last night and we had a wonderful experience! We were greeted at the door by our waiter, super friendly, and provided excellent service. The food and drinks were outstanding, and the portions were huge. My husband ordered the Espresso Martini and I ordered the Pear-fect Apple Spritz. Both very good. We started with the Macaroni Croquettes, a bowl of Minestrone, and a bowl of Tomato Bisque. For our entrees, my husband ordered the 20 Layer Lasagna (huge, took half of it home) and the Filet Mignon. Again, both very good. We were too full for dessert at that time, so we decided to take some home. We got the Bread Pudding and the Tiramisu and enjoyed them hours later at home. Good service. Food...meh. I was really hoping for far better only to be disappointed. The lettuce was cold and crisp but the Cesar dressing had tons of Dijon mustard....The crouton(s) were the worst I have ever had. I would have far preferred boxed ones. It was stale and cold like it was refrigerated. They were more like two small cheese breads that were impossible to cut. The mussels were tiny. However, the flavor was ok. The chicken sitting in a good bed of fresh rustic mashed potatoes was decently flavored, but the chicken was way overcooked. I am wondering that this Location has an average review of 4.8. it might be that people have never been in Italy . it is very pricy for what it is. we had shrimp soup which was sour tasting . the shrimp was fine but the broth had an indefinable taste. -definitely not Italien. ....what do you expect with Mac and cheese on the menue. We shared the much announced lasagne with " 10layers" of pasta. It had maybe 5. just a little tiny bit of bechamel, no cheese. The tomato sauce tasted like right out of the can. Acid, no flavor no spices. We were very disappointed. We also had to sit at a very tiny table. No coordination when food came out. read more
