So obviously I saw a women of color what look like maybe she had hair similar to mine and said to myself, I should try it out. I also just so happen to like that she provides other services like makeup and eyebrow waxing as well. I called and Yvonne picked up. She is just lovely. I came in on my Saturday appointment and was sat down to feel out a client card. When I was done Georgina sat right next to me and went over my hair concerns and what I would like done. I did a wash, treatment, roller, trim and style for $85. My hair is basically near the bottom of my back. My hair was poofy and she dry cut it and it came out even. Now that is skill!!! When it came time for the hair dryer, I was offered coffee, tea, cookies and magazines. I felt that all the staff were attentive the whole time. Great service and great atmosphere. When all was done my hair was so soft. It's now going on day 4 and it feels so soft, smooth, full of bounce and so easy to manage. I have natural curly hair and for those who know, if you don't tame natural mixed girl hair while its wet, it will come out poofy, frizzy, and nappy. No more Dominican hair salon for me. It only took her about 45 minutes to apply a full set of eyelashes when I had done my research and it said it should take up to two hours of done properly. A bunch of lashes were clumped together because she didn't take the time to separate my lashes. Then she made me sit in front of an ac unit to help The lashes dry. Super unprofessional and a bad overall experience. I'm a hairstylist and I would never bad mouth people, but skip this place for lashes. Don't sell Groupons if you don't want to spend the time to make valued clients.

My eyelashes are already dark brown but Melissa (owner) said she had a black dye that was super black. I got that to make my lashes pop. And, in the 10 or so appointments I have had with her, she not only is fluent in English, but is also a consummate professional, lovely, and highly skilled. Having said all of that, I moved to the area about a year ago, and decided to give this local salon a try, as trekking down to my usual one in Greenwich takes too long now. I was uncertain, because I have very thick, long and wavy hair (picture spirals). First time, I got a great blow out from Georgeann. The next time, another amazing blow out by Michelle that lasted for days and days (thanks to low humidity, and her skills). And, I have been to Rupy for cuts, color and blow outs that leave my hair smooth and silky. Sometimes you have to wonder - are bad experiences sometimes not due to the vendor, but the attitude or unrealistic expectations of the client? Anyway - I rarely give 5 stars, but these folks deserve all 5.
