Little did I know that Royal-Reed was literally located minutes away from my office! Nestled in St. Ann. The website to book your appointment was simplistic enough to follow. When I had a question, I was able to speak with someone immediately, who was friendly and kind on the other end. When I arrived, I was immediately taken up for my appointment - by chance, not by the person I originally booked with, but the owner instead. Mrs. Reed was so sweet. A wonderful conversationalist and entrepreneur. She informed me that her business was approaching their 5th year soon and described to me her vision for the future to help educate others in the profession. She was also able to explain to me of how to better care for my nail care concerns. When I got my pedicure however, I was placed with Dawn who is an up and coming artist. Baby...when I tell you she put work in on my feet, she put some work in. THE BEST PEDICURE I HAVE EVER HAD!! My feet were so smooth leaving the salon. Mind you, my appointment was on December 28th and the heels of my feet are STILL smooth (it's January 10th). Overall, the salon itself was nice and carried great energy. Mrs. Reed prides herself on practicing safe care for the clients staff and her artists. Royal-Reed has definitely found a client in me.

She knew she had an appointment at 1. My appointment was at 10. She didn't show up u til 10:20 and was rushing the entire time claiming she "needed to be on time" all of my nails are crooked, the top cost is patchy, the chrome came off basically all the charms. Charms fell off the day after. They're chunky and uneven and just not cute. I asked her if she could fix them and she banned me from making appointments! No white precoat powder and no clear gel top coat. He used this other clear, shiny top coat but it's not as shiny as the gel top coat I'm used to. I still like the way my nails came out though. I also am satisfied with my gel pedi :) My boyfriend ended up getting a clear coat on his toes and fingernails and he said he enjoyed himself too lol. Every spot I had gone to/tried to go to said no to doing the gel removal or simply would not respond to my calls/messages. It had become such an inconvenience and I was ready to give up hope until a friend recommended Clayton Nail Spa (spoiler alert -- they did the dang job). I did a walk-in around 2 PM on a Sunday and I received service within 5 minutes. They have a full staff that is really on their A-game all the time (I was there for almost 2 hours and paid attention to their workflow). They seem to have a handful of regulars and are really polite to clients (I witnessed a girly unload her entire life story onto a worker, unprompted, and the staff respectfully let her talk at them the entire time). The lady who worked on my nails was very sweet and chatted with me the entire time, explaining what she was doing and why. She really went above and beyond with removing the gel nails as carefully as possible, offering to do additional services and not pushing when I said no, and meticulously grooming my cuticles and buffing my skin. The pricing was fair and she was very transparent about the cost of each service before getting started. I'm not a big nail salon person because I'm quite frugal about these matters, but I would absolutely come back here for any nail service needs in the future.

Since they're appointment only, I made one for 11/29 and was able to get the first slot of the day. Kathy warmly greeted me and did my pedicure first. I saw the pricing for the services and asked what the difference was between the regular and deluxe pedicure and she said it came with a wax treatment and something else. For a $5.00 difference, I decided to get it. She went through the normal steps of removing the polish and so forth. I really appreciated her checking throughout the service to ensure my needs were met both with the shape and length of the nail, as well as how it looked. At first I didn't see the value of the deluxe until she put my feet in the wax bags and had it soak for a few mins. Once removed, my feet were so Incredibly soft! I figured ok, so the pedicure was great, let's see how well she does nails and that's where she really shined. When she started my nails, I noticed she was working a bit faster than she did on my feet. At that point, I assumed she had another appt (which she did), I just wasn't sure when. I was amazed that even while working a bit faster, she still cared about the accuracy and look of my nails. I'm used to being rushed and the nails not looking to my liking, but she was the opposite. Not only did she nail the design, but everything else was perfect. Best of all, she told me the prices up front so I knew everything she was charging for and there were no surprises afterwards. Kathy was polite, thorough, and did great work. Considering I paid less here for a fill, pedicure, and tip than I did at the other place with just a full set and tip, it's a no brainer who's getting my business in the future.
