This is ultra high-end ice cream. a small cone will set you back $8, but the word "small" is quite misleading, a small cone is two scoops and really is a full pint of ice cream. You might want to consider ordering it in the bowl form as opposed to trying to eat that much off a cone. These are top shelf ingredients, whole maraschino cherries, fresh fruit. It really is high quality stuff. it's just pricey. there's no dining interior or you order at the outside window and take it back to your car. There are a couple of picnic tables, but geez this is Houston, you're not going to want to stay outside most of the year. Awesome little walk up in the shadow of the X-Scape movie theater. Lots of flavors and a variety of non ice cream options. While it is a little pricy, the serving is huge! The regular in the picture is 3 mega scoops and is difficult to finish. A really nice innovation is the little sleeve for the cones that keeps your hands clean! Because I'm never going to be upset with another place with frozen sugar enters the neighborhood. --- --- --- Full disclosure: there are two other places located on 1488, even slightly closer to my house, that serve ice cream and I happen to like more. But after one visit to Bruster's, I'm glad to have even another option nearby. I ordered a waffle cone with three scoops that are very bizarre to pick with each other: cotton candy, coconut and salted caramel. I'd guess it might be at least a year before someone orders that exact combination. I actually think the cotton candy was the best of the bunch. It had something with a bit of a crunch inside that I enjoyed. The other two flavors were fine but not super memorable. I might just be tempted enough to swing by here every so often with it being right off the road and having a drive-thru, which is super convenient since we usually have our toddler with us. read more

Wow! I'm visiting my sister and we wanted ice cream. There is a walk up window as well as a drive thru. We decided to order at the window. There were quite a few people getting ice cream and the drive thru was also full. They were very quick and kept everything moving. It did not take long to get our order and we were able to sit at one of their tables outside. They make their own ice cream and you can definitely tell. I got mint chocolate chip in a waffle cone and my daughter who is lactose intolerant was able to get nondairy ice cream. They had lots of options. She got a scoop of nondairy mint chocolate chip and a scoop of nondairy banana peanut butter. Needless to say, her nondairy ice cream was amazing and I couldn't tell the difference. I usually do the drive through, and I have to say every time I go there I have a very pleasant experience. I like to try a new flavor every time I go, and they have many flavors to choose from. They have small, medium and large sized cups, waffle cones and other options I still haven't tried. All of their portions are pretty reasonable, and it's worth every penny you pay for them. Sometimes I have to get the kids size because the bigger portions can be a little too much for me, but even their kids options are pretty good! I like Brusters. They have a wide array of flavors and toppings. I love that they offer 14 rotating vegan flavors. The only downside is they only have 4 available at a time. Most of which are kind of unique. I wish they had chocolate, vanilla, cookie dough, and strawberry as their all the time flavors and then added other flavors occasionally. read more

I really wanted to like this but it was very disappointing. I got the peanut butter Oreo and the ice cream tasted good but the waffle cone was awful. It was stale, but also the flavor was just off. My daughter got the regular oreo flavor and it had a bad after taste. She hardly ate any of it, I tasted it before she threw it away and it was not good. Within an hour of eating it she started feeling sick to her stomach and has now felt like crap for a few hours. On another note - the parking lot is a mess!! Took us so long to get out because the drive thru blocks all the parking spots and there is only one way in and out of the parking lot. The second person ordered and they went through 2 flavors before they had what they wanted.
