A Cautionary Tale for Future Customers I brought a pair of earrings to Bryan & Son to have the posts replaced. The owner quoted me $75 for the job, which I reasonably assumed covered both earrings. When I returned to pick them up, I was stunned to learn the price had doubled--$150 total, apparently $75 per earring. While I acknowledge I should have requested a written estimate, the lack of transparency and sudden price hike felt misleading and unprofessional. Being 2024 I expect more from people. Having tattoos regardless of there location should not be a reason to completely ignore what one is trying to sell, buy or pull out a loan on. As soon as I was buzzed in. An employee asked do you need help. I said no...I'm looking for a nice chain. Gold for a gift. I looked to my right and there in the case was exactly what I was looking for. This employee very quickly informed me that "NO" I wouldn't be interested in any of those. But if you would like to come over here I'm sure we will be able to help u. I laughed as I walked over to this person. Looked down at what she was showing me. The smallest silver chains money can buy. I let this employee know that today I'll be spending a little on a gold neckless. Looked me directly in my eyes to tell me that the silver ones would be better priced for someone with a job like mine. LOL by this time I really was beside myself. I've heard multiple bad things about this facility and had a bad experience myself before with the male employee there but chose not to write a review at the time or bad mouth. The first time I went into Bryan and Son I was a reporter interviewing them about a robbery they had, basically, foiled. The sweet grandmotherly woman behind the counter had taken off after the smash-and-grabber and chased him a couple of blocks before turning over the chase to a guy on a bicycle. The would-be thief was nabbed, but the kind of energy and spunk that the clerk showed in that episode was the same kind that they show in their customer service. Need a watch battery? They didn't charge me for it. When I was wedding ring shopping Robin cleaned my engagement ring in the steamer for me. These folks know service. And their product lines are classy and really range over different styles so you can find a watch or a pair of earrings to suit your taste. In December I purchased a necklace to be given to my wife on our 50th anniversary, due to unforeseen circumstances I needed to return the necklace. our anniversary was not until June. They were reluctant to take it back, offered store credit which I did not need. they did credit my account but at a loss on my part of 245.00 dollars, so I paid rental fee of 40.00 per month. A restocking fee i could understand, but I felt this was a bit much. they treated me rather cold and just wanted me to leave. Will question using them again. read more

First and last time at this store. The woman who hesitated to even buzz me in the door was as unhelpful as they come. She gave the impression that she didn't even want to help me. I was trying to find out out about selling some silver and basically left to feel I wasting her time. I was so put off by her that as I left I forgot to ask about my watch and had to go back in. Apparently that irritated her more. Have a nice watch that stopped running even after new battery put in. After she referred to my watch as basically junk and appeared to fake trying to put in a new battery I left. Went down two blocks to Herbigs where amazing that watch is GOOD. Who woulda thunk it! I guess RACE does matter! The previous guy got his for free. No matter won't be going back there! Too bad the star ratings don't go the other direction. read more

I brought a portion of recently acquired estate jewelry to these guys and from the very beginning the woman greeted me with a smile a light good hearted personality and something else that completely eased my insecurities about fine jewelers and well u know the atmosphere. She conveyed a genuine helping attitude and told me there was no reason to feel as if I was burdening them with quite possibly a bag of crap :) They look at estate jewelry all the time. So I dropped it off and waited not even 24 hours. I get a call from Matt, great guy I asked him if he had time to sort through the crap I left him and he laughed and said it wasn't all crap there was no judgement or snootiness in his tone or in the way he told me he wouldn't be interested in any of it lol He gave me a brief description of the lot as a whole like that there was older pieces in there Sterling genuine diamonds but too small for his interests etc. I recommend Bryan and Sons for customer service acceptance and down right making you feel comfortable and confident in a situation that is completely forign to you. I regrettably didn't get to sell them anything lol so I can not speak on that aspect. I will absolutely be bring them a few more bags of "Crap" :) in the very near future. RUDE! i called to ask if anyone turned in my wedding ring that had been stolen and they hung up the phone on me! i would not buy from these people! very rude about it couldn't even listen to me long enough for me to figure how i would go about identifying my ring or what their policy was. I took a diamond ring that was appraised for $3600.00 in 1983 into these people and all they offered was $545.00. Gold prices in 1983 were around $300.00 an ounce and over $1300.00 an ounce at the time I took it to them. Do not ever buy diamonds. You will never get anywhere near what you paid. There are over 1.5 carats in this ring and they told me the only thing of value was the gold. Buy a 2 carat cubic zirconium and have it put in a 14k gold ring. She won't know the difference and no one else will either. And you'll save thousands. Build yourself a garage with what you saved. Zirconiums are flawless man made diamonds and are about 1% of $$$ what the jeweler is going to charge for one that doesn't look nearly as good. Put the money in your pocket not the jewelers. Diamonds are not your best friend....not at all! Invest in your families future not the jewelers family. I buy silver and gold and have a nice collection in a bank safety deposit box. The money I will make 20 years from now from my collection will be many many times that if it was put in diamonds. I bought silver dollars in 1982 and paid $4.50 each now worth over $50.00 each. That ring I was talking about decreased in value over 6 times from $3600.00 to $545.00. The silver dollar increased in value 11 times what I paid. Do some smart investing. You'll be happy you did. read more
