Our family chose Bryan and his associates to help us find a house in Hinsdale. Our family was starting to outgrow our home in Chicago. I asked a colleague who had recently bought a home in the area, and although he didn't use Bryan, he said he heard enough good things about Bryan that we should call him. So I did. He called me back within a day. We targeted the Western suburbs for the schools and the proximity to my work. If you are looking in the Western suburbs, I don't think you could find a realtor with more working knowledge of the area than Bryan. That was made clear to us after he took my wife and I on a half-day tour of the area while showing us several homes he arranged for us to see. Bryan knows Hinsdale and the Western 'burbs because he lives and works there. And he told us that he will personally see all (!!) the homes that get listed in Hinsdale. Whenever a new home popped up on the listings that interested me, I would email Bryan. He always had an opinion ready. Which brings me to this point. Bryan will be honest with you. He doesn't mince words and will tell you exactly what is right, or wrong with a home. He would tell us things like, "I will never sell you a home on this street", because he knew how the traffic patterns were there. He once said, "I know the couple who lived in that home before, and they went cheap on the renovations. That home is not worth it". There is no sugar coating like some realtors will do just to make a sale. This kind of frank talk may not be for everyone, but it was exactly what we needed since we knew nothing of the area. I should say this though. Bryan's success has made him very busy. Most of our showings, negotiations, etc. were with another realtor in his office Laura Rooney. This is how we did it: I would find a home on zillow or redfin that I liked. I would email or call Bryan and ask him his opinion. If things still looked good, I would arrange a showing with Laura. Laura was superb. Very approachable, flexible, reliable, consistent, etc. The personal touch we got from Bryan's office was through her. We saw the home we eventually bought 4 or 5 times before we closed, and Laura was always ready to meet us at the home any time of day, even after hours to let us in. Bryan and Laura have a meeting with each other every morning, so there is no communication lost between the two. Even though we were working mostly with Laura, Bryan was kept aware of everything going on in our search. This arrangement was perfect for us. Bryan was our main source of knowledge while Laura was doing the heavy lifting. I'm sure if you wanted to work exclusively with Bryan, that would be ok with him too. But having Laura as our liaison worked out great for us. I don't think you can go wrong with choosing these guys to help you find a home. It's getting more and more difficult to find the right home at the right price. You will get insight into the homes in the Western 'burbs from Bryan that you won't get elsewhere. *Sellers beware*: Mr. Bomba nor anyone is his group will show your home to any prospective buyer who chooses to represent themselves. My husband and I have self represented in three other states with no issue (we have an attorney who we use to draw up transaction paperwork). When we called to see a home he has listed he told us he refused to show it to us without realtor representation... because he nor anyone on his staff could be bothered to travel the .8 miles from his office to unlock the door to his listing. Any good selling agent will be happy to do that for their sellers in order to get a house sold. The house we were interested in seeing did end up selling-- for more than $100,000 less than the asking price. I wouldn't hire him to sell my dog's house. read more

Like others have posted, Bryan is simply the best in the area. Ultimately, we had three considerations in selecting an agent to sell our home: 1). Get the most money 2). Sell it quickly 3). Make the process simple and hassle-free We interviewed 4 agents before selecting Bryan, including a RedFin agent (because we were intrigued by their lower commission). We agreed Bryan was the best -- he clearly understood the market better than anyone, had a great support team and marketing approach, and he proved it. The first weekend our house was on the market, we received multiple offers and accepted an offer for our asking price. Then, throughout the whole process leading up to close, Bryan and his team stayed on top of all the dates, contract requirements, and made the whole process stress-free and easy. It's clear Bryan's knowledge of the area and marketing approach more than off-set any commission savings we might have received with RedFin - by far! Their market assessment of our house and suggested listing price was ~10% lower than what we sold the house for (because they included comps that were in very different neighborhoods because they didn't understand the market) - so while very nice people with some cool gadgets and what seemed like an attractively low commission, clearly they did not understand the intricacies of the local market and we would have netted significantly less money had we listed with them.
