I looooove small cakes and didn't know there was one in the area until recently. I actually got this via too good to go. My favorite will always be the chocolate cream and peanut butter. We happened to come across this wonderful cupcake shop while in the area buying none other than donuts. Upon entering the shop, we were instantly greeted by Adrienne and Faith. They were so friendly and energetic...posed for a picture, let me take pictures of everything, and explained the flavors..even turned on the Christmas tree lights so I can take a picture. We came at a weird time (after the gym) in the afternoon and during the weekend, so it wasn't packed. I'd imagine that they have more foot traffic during the opening and before closing time. There were too many flavors to choose from, but when in doubt, go the chocolate route!! We chose German Chocolate and Red Velvet. Unfortunately, I can't speak to the flavor or texture as I bought them for someone else. They seemed a little pricey, $9.96 for 2 cupcakes...but I guess maybe that could be the average price for a cupcake these days. They have a rewards program, but I didn't sign up as I don't know when I'll return. Also, there weren't any instant rewards when signing up. I want to start this review off by saying that I tried calling and asking a manager to give me a call back. But since I didn't get the courtesy call back to do right I'll leave my review here. I've never had an issue with the cupcakes here, they are quite great actually. My issue is their actual cake. Me knowing they are known for cupcakes, before I placed my order I came in to have a conversation and ask the necessary questions before placing an order. I wanted a really simple round naked cake. Nothing complicated as far as design, just referenced a photo of a naked cake and another cake with light blue icing for color reference. They assured me this was easy and they can make it happen and it seemed like an easy enough request for me not to worry. When I came to pick up the cake it was obviously not what I asked for. They gave me some bright blue icing and the cake was not a naked cake. It looked more like a cake when iced they ran out of icing. When I asked the guy who handed me the cake what color the icing was he said it was blue but definitely not light blue. I told him to let the manager know that I wasn't happy and to give me a call. I gave it nearly a week and didn't hear back from them. Not to discredit how the cake taste but I really didn't appreciate how the cake design turned out. I would've appreciated the honesty if they said they've never done this before and they would try. The lack of any kind of response left a bad impression and I don't think I could ever return. My wife has been making cakes for years. Never had one of her cakes do this! For as much as I spent on the cake, I expect a few things. I expect to have 'Happy Birthday written on the sheet next to the cake, as was promised, but not delivered. I expect icing to last more than 17 hours. I expect a reasonable looking cake. I love the wedding cake cupcakes. I ordered lemon drop and strawberry. I figured I would eat only half...no luck I ate the whole thing icing and all. The cake was moist and the icing was not too sweet. I don't know what they do but this stuff is consistently amazing at every location. My daughter said her strawberry was the best ever. So disappointed in this SmallCakes. I have been there on many occasions, and have liked their cupcakes. However, yesterday's experience wasn't so good. Maybe because of the storm and power issues, they were shorthanded, but the rudeness and "hurry up" pressure leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. I wanted to pick up cupcakes for an impromptu birthday party for my 4 yr old granddaughter, so I went in early and asked to purchase two dozen. Without asking me what kind and not allowing me to ask questions about the special pricing (buy 10,get 2 free) the clerk started loading up two boxes of the cupcakes she thought best just to finish my order and move on. I had to stop her and tell her to put more with sprinkles (of course, a 4 yr old has to have those!), but she said "I'm by myself and that's all I've got" even though there were others with sprinkles on top. She then charged me the full per dozen price and hurried me along. There were others in the shop but no on behind me, so I'm not sure why the hurry and why you would want to offend a customer buying 2 dozen expensive cupcakes. Purchased 4 cupcakes (9/21/23) for a dinner party and told my special guest that she would love the amaretto "wedding cake" cupcake, which I have purchased many times. After dinner I passed out the cupcakes and the special one I had purchased for my special guest. She tasted it and said it was vanilla - not amaretto. So I tasted it, and it was vanilla. Glad that I have found this adorable cupcake shop in the middle of nowhere off of the Grand Parkway! Decor wise, Smallcakes somewhat resembles Ooh La La; lots of fuchsia and hot pink colors, and just cute! There were complaints that they only used chocolate and vanilla as their base and only have variety in icing. But I just went recently and they had fruity ones and one spiked with bourbon. Super moist cupcakes. Staff was very friendly. Sucks that they don't have any utensils, but other wise I would go again. We had gotten the carmel crunch, Kentucky bourbon, and raspberry coconut. Bad Customer Service!!! Giving a 1 is an understatement. It doesn't even deserve a , but that is not an option! I placed an order 3 weeks in advance for an important birthday party. The morning of the party I went to pick up the cupcakes only to be told it was canceled the day before by me(which I did not call or canceled), and the money was refunded. The employee was supposed to cancel another customer order(she called the number that she wrote down), but mistakenly canceled my order which inconvenient me and my event. She called the manager to see if she can make my cupcakes without charging me a fee since the mistake was made on their end. The manager said NO and insisted I make another payment regardless that her employee canceled the wrong order. She did not care that my event was starting in 3 hours, and it was not my fault.
