I did my homework 2 years ago in helping my mother find a roofer by getting 3 estimates. We chose BSW. They did a great job! So when I needed a new roof this year, I didn't bother with estimates, I just called BSW. The men had to remove existing solar panels and then re-install after completing the roof. Before the project began, Victor, the project manager, introduced me to the team that would be working on my roof. I really liked that! One of the owners even came out to check on the project! I ran into some issues with a solar system that was not installed by BSW. It was an Enphase based system and they are a "Gold Installer" as recommended by Enphase. I was at my wit's end's end and desperate for support and guidance. I reached out to BSW's in-house solar engineer, Curtis and he was absolutely amazing. Most companies wouldn't give you the time of day if it wasn't something they installed. This was not the case with Curtis and BSW. He was a HUGE help, spent a good chunk of time reviewing our system and then pointing me in the right direction. This level of customer service is a very good indication of how they conduct business. We purchased our home a year ago which had existing Enphase solar panels. We starting have problems with many of the panels not working properly. We found out the original installer was no longer in business. Enphase gave us a list of installers who we could contact for help. BSW had a good rating so we called them. I spoke to Curtis and he was able to check our panels output and told me our system was "scary" that many panels were not working and it would almost be easier to replace everything, but he gave me other options as well. He told me unless we were serious about moving forward he would not give us a quote because it was too much work. He also told me that the company wasn't really interested in working with "orphans" which I guess that's what we were considered since we no longer had our original installer. I later called him back and said we were serious and wanted quotes. He assured me I would receive a quote within a couple of weeks. That was at least two months ago and I have received nothing. I have called and he will not return my call. I now have to start this whole process with another company. I definitely would not recommend BSW for solar! read more

After having a leaking patio repaired 4 yrs ago by handyman and leaking again this January, I decided to get roofing experts this time. After getting three companies check out my roof, a gentleman from BSW said he could fix it permanent. While he was measuring I asked him about doing the entire roof, noting that it was 30 yrs old and loosing some shingles, Travis took time to explain the reroofing process from stripping down bare wood to replacing facia board to putting shingles of my style and color choices. The other two roofing companies never took the amount of time to answer all my questions or give me options. BSW got the job mainly because of the customer attention, service and response. I had a large steep roof in need of replacement. BSW sent out an army with equipment to strip the roof and lay down the OSB quickly. The installation team was very capable and did outstanding work. Great attention to detail. And everyone from the office to the roof was extremely customer service oriented. Also I needed a few things done that were clearly out of scope. Great experience with BSW. They were professional from the initial quote to the final inspection. I had a total of 6 quotes and the disparity in quotes was amazing. Ironically BSW, the one that was certified by GAF and license and bonded was the lowest. I also had people comment in the construction industry that they are one of the best. Whoever you select:here is a small check list of items - licensed and bonded - certified by the shingles company you are going to use...why? Because if the company goes away you are registered with the shingle company who trained the roofer who installed the shingles. I contacted BSW on 11/11/20, 13 days ago, requesting a visit to estimate possible repairs on a roof. I was told that the charge would be $450.00 for someone to come out to take a look. I did not balk at the price, as I just wanted someone with roofing experience to steer me in the right direction. I was told that someone would contact me "within two business days" to arrange for an appointment. It is now 13 days and I have received no call. If I could give 0 stars I would. Wanted to get a "free estimate" on my roof repair which they advertise for on tv all the time. Also wanted to get an estimate on buying solar for the house. They did both come on time which is great. However, I had to demand a written estimate from them for the repairs before they left. And I mean "DEMAND". They had no intention of giving me any documentation at all. Then I look at the repair estimate and it basically says nothing. A few sentences but no specifics on what needed repairing. There were many issues with my roof and I wanted details. So I called and called and called. 6 times they promised to get me a detailed estimate and NEVER did. Add to that the fact that I never heard from them at all on solar costs after they left. Bought a couple used tiles. Two ridge pieces and an end bullnose....they charged me $39 for a single used ridge end bullnose tile and $11 each for the ridge tile (even though I heard the yard guy tell the sales man they were $10 each in Spanish). Ended up not needing the bullnose tile so I went back the next day and asked if I could exchange it for a couple rake tiles I needed. They would not exchange it or give me a refund. To be fair they do have a little sign at the desk that says no refunds or exchanges but who reads every sign....especially since many of them in their office are sales promotions.....would have been nice if the sales guy would have mentioned it during the sale or if the receipt/contract would have stated this...Really guys how would it hurt to just exchange it?? I have done business with you before and sent clients to you in the past, now over $40 you have lost my business and I will never recommend you to anyone. read more

Terrible first impression. Save your time and don't call this place!!! They came out over a week ago and looked at my roof. I called and emailed them back multiple times, no one ever called or responded. I never got an estimate. All I got is inconvenienced. If they can't even pick up the phone and call back or communicate, I would hate to see how long it takes them to actually complete the work. I would never use this company or recommend them to my friends, family or co-workers. My roof still has a leak and this unprofessional company lead me on for the past 8 days. Thanks to Yelp, I'm no longer remaining silent with less than satisfactory service! The repairmen at BSW were excellent, the project manager may try to rob you, so beware!!! My mother's Bakersfield house had a leak in the flashing around a large skylight. BSW was referred to me by a neighbor. A Project Manager went up on the roof & gave me an excellent quote with a reasonable timeframe. I made it VERY clear that I was prepping the house for sale. He said the skylight needed replacement, but was a special order & could take a week, maybe 2 to arrive. While awaiting Home Depot to provide the skylight, I made arrangements to sell the house. 2 weeks turned into 3, so I called Rony who claimed he never committed to weeks. I then called the office & tracked down the buyer (another Ron) who ordered a 2nd skylight (different vendor) so they could install whichever unit arrived 1st. After 3 weeks, I began to stress, because I repaired the inside ceiling, replaced the carpet & a huge storm was expected the following week. Plus, the house sold after 1 day on the market with a 2-week escrow, contingent on the roof repair. Once again, I called Ron & voiced my concerns. He then claimed they could make the necessary repairs the following day WITHOUT the skylight, & replace it after it arrived. Never ONCE was this mentioned during the entire month I was waiting. After removal of the old skylight, I realized it didn't even need replacement!! After confronting them about the issue, they claimed they couldn't provide a warranty without a new skylight. I was selling the house & didn't care about a warranty!! Argh. After a bit of an argument, my bill was reduced by more than $350 to deduct for the skylight. The repair work was excellent, but after far too many phone calls, time spent & the stress involved, I simply can't leave the review I hoped to. Several weeks later, they're texting & emailing me to call them if I'm less than thrilled with the service. I contacted BSW Roofing for a roof repair since they are the company who installed the roof when the home was built. After looking at the problem, the BSW employee told me they would build it better than it was first built. Did I mention BSW was the company that built the roof? I asked the employee if there was a cheaper alternative to repair the roof. He said there was not and it needed to be rebuilt. After receiving the very high quote, I was disappointed by the lack of a cheaper alternative and that the only fix would cost so much. I contacted BSW to express my concerns and seek an explanation. It seemed as though they were passing the blame to someone else. I did not get a sense that they were willing to satisfy the customer. Overall, I was very disappointed with BSW's unwillingness to offer a cheaper solution to a problem they contributed to and the high price of the only solution they had to offer. read more

Replaced roofing on patio roof. It had been several years but I noticed that the wood underneath was damaged due to rain (what little we have in Bakersfield). It took a couple of months between communications and people being off work, but they finally came out and had to replace several of the boards and did a patch work job on the roof itself; which I appreciated. Upon inspecting the patch work, I mentioned to the manager that I anticipate it being a problem again because of the terrible patch work job. I needed about two dozen broken tiles replaced on a house i just bought. This would cost me about $400 for a reasonable roofing company. Instead they wanted to replace the felt lining under a small section of my roof at the cost of $15,000 (my roof didn't leak at all btw). This section only makes up about 1/10th of my total roof surface area. So applying some math that would be $150,000 to just re-felt the whole roof. How much would a total re-roofing job be... 300k? Get real people. Months later... Despite my lengthy rants to my wife about this company, she unwittingly ended up going to BSW roofing to order 50 new tiles, They sold her used dirty old tiles they had pulled off some roofing job at $5/tile. To make matters worse they were cracked and also the wrong type, even though she brought them an example tile to make a perfect match. I went with her to return them and the secretary tells me straight out "we don't accept returns on tiles". I watched the manager cringing at the very thought of accepting our return but he ultimately arrived at the right decision. After the yard hand who originally supplied my wife the tiles was done blaming her we finally got an order placed for 50 new tiles. read more

The guys over at BSW are really amazing. We worked with Luis. He is down to earth and honest. They installed our roof in Spring 2017 after our home started leaking during Christmas. They found out the original builders cut corners and never put the felt underneath the tiles to prevent leaks. We had a huge problem but they did a wonderful job at working with us and helped us find the right solution for our home. I am so grateful for their support and making this huge purchase as smooth as possible. They even came back and fixed a spot that had the tiniest hole and had another leak. Horrible experience! Had Victor come out to look at my solar panels that I own to get a quote to have them installed on my home. He said it wouldn't be a problem that he would return the following day with a quote. Over a week went by and and we left him several messages on his cell phone with no return call. I finally called the office to find out what was going on. I was told I would get a call back within an hour and a half. Victor finally called me back and acted like he knew nothing about my panels, as if he didn't come look at them. He said engineering said no and that he was going to give me a quote for a new system. I told him I was not interested in a new system so he just hung up on me. Horrible customer service! He knew I owned my solar panels and he knew from the beginning I was not interested in a new system. He completely wasted our time. And he needs a lesson in customer service. read more

STAY AWAY!!...DO NOT LET THEM NEAR YOUR HOUSE!!!! If only there was a negative star rating. For my parents' house in Bakersfield, I called BSW, with their receptionist promising a return call within 3 days, which did not happen. So, I called again and was told to email information, which I did. Again, no response by phone or by email. Yet again naively, I called and was finally transferred to Guillermo M. He became interested upon realizing that I was asking for individual quotes for roof repair and solar installation. He said that he does not give written estimates but was making an exception for us. (Very fishy since EVERY other company provided written estimates as the norm). Once I received the estimates, I asked him if there would be additional discounts if we hired them for both projects. He said that the estimates were separated for the individual projects and that the discount would be the 30% federal tax incentive, but no other discount if we chose both. He asked to meet with us. When he came to our house, he became very, very agitated upon learning that we had just chosen another solar company (Pav Solar) who gladly provided a solar installation WRITTEN estimate that was ~30% LESS than BSW's $32,799 estimate. To pressure us, Guillermo then claimed that BSW would not repair our roof for their "low" price of $4925 unless we also agreed to have them install the solar and that work by another solar company would void their roof repair warranty. Guillermo did not realize that multiple roofers provided estimates (again) 25-35% LESS than BSW's $4925 estimate for roof repair. The other roofers would still honor their warranty after solar installation by another company. Aside from the company's lack of professionalism, Guillermo also went through our PRIVATE documents when he was at our house, trying to determine what the competitors were bidding. We should have called the police. The red flags are all over the place for this company: 1) Failure to return calls/emails 2) Written estimates are exceptions 3) Lying/pressuring/manipulation 4) Invasion of privacy. Even if they provided the lowest bid, they cannot be trusted as they readily lie/manipulate when in the earliest stages. I would NEVER trust them to stand by their words/estimates or their warranty. If they ever come near our house, we are calling the police. UPDATE: Since I posted this review, it seems that BSW has been digging up customers from months, if not years, ago to try to counter the cumulative low stars, to get it back to 4 stars. Moreover, these customers seem to have been asked to specifically address issues with BSW that other customers and I share in common. If BSW is truly good, they would not need to resort to this tactic. Glowing reviews come readily and freely for other companies. read more

BSW recently installed our new roof and solar panels. Victor with the Roof and Edgar with the Solar were very professional and quick to answer any questions and addressed any concerns very quick. I appreciate the fact that they worked around my work schedule. The roofers did an awesome job on my roof and the clean up was immaculate for example completely covering my whole pool. The solar guys and the electricians who installed the solar panels and swapped out my electrical panel did such a good job and the work they did was perfect and I'm a very picky person. We have a Laundry Room that is so dark that even when the light was turned on I still couldn't see to spot check the clothes. I wanted a "Solar Tube" or "Sun Tunnel" but was having a hard time finding a company who would put it in. We have a tile roof, which can prove difficult with the wrong company. I am very please to say BSW Roofing was the RIGHT COMPANY. They came out, gave us an estimate, scheduled the install and 3 hours later I have a wonderfully bright Laundry Room.
