Bua means flower lily or lotus. Bua Thai is a Humbling authentic restaurant full lotus' decor and tasty delights. We ordered the traditional Panang Chicken Curry with star level 3, I like mine spicy. The Chicken Drunken Noodles was star level 2, the spice gracefully touches the palette. And our last main dish was Chicken Pad See Ew, with Star level 0, so I can really taste the true favors. The Pad See Ew was deliciously made without breaking the wide rice noodles, which is extremely difficult and they did a wonderful job. The soup they brought out with the lunch was as homemade as you can get from Thailand. I didn't have to order another soup after eating two servings. We went to this restaurant because of the yelp reviews. It was 15 minutes from our hotel and we had driven for 4 hours already but we went for it. The atmosphere was really nice and clean. There were only two other booths and a large party in the place at the time. The waitress brought our waters but didn't take our drink order until we ordered food. I ordered the drunken noodles with duck at a heat of 6 (1-10). My daughter ordered pad Thai with chicken at a heat of 3. My wife ordered mango curry with chicken at a 6 heat. They brought my order first and I let it sit there while I waited for the others. Then they brought my wife's and we both waited a few minutes for my daughters. They made my daughters about a 7, mine about a 3, and my wife's about a 6. They never came back to check on how it was so we just switched plates. The food was very good (I tried all 3). This might be the nicest Thai restaurant I've ever been to. While the restaurant's exterior is simple, its interior decor is exquisitely vibrant! I felt like a princess walking into the restaurant! The cloth napkins are a beautiful magenta color and the dishes are jade green, which makes the whole restaurant pop with color. Another great thing about Bua Thai is just the sheer variety of dishes on their menu which really separates it from other neighborhood Thai restaurants. We were really excited to see a whole page on their menu dedicated to Issan cuisine, which is something you definitely don't see on most Thai menus. If you do come here, skip the pad thai and try something new on their menu! :) read more

Bua Thai is what allows me to not have to move to Thailand next week for w/o their absolutely delicious food I would be on my way. I find that some dishes are actually better than what I've found in Thailand over the last 12 or so trips there. Favorite dish is Pad Se Yew Gai - ask for it to be slightly 'burned' which gives it an incredible flavor that most other restaurants in Denver simply lack. The food is great and the lunch prices are too, but the staff are all too often not very friendly. They usually seem annoyed/burdened by having to provide service. From a very elegantly-decorated building near Abilene & Mississippi (you'll never believe a former Schlotzsky's could look so good on the inside), Bua Thai Restaurant brings you temptingly toothsome tastes of Thailand, both regional and national. Start things off with one of Bua's flower- or fruit-based drinks (such as Nam Krajieb, derived from roselle (hibiscus) petals, or Nam Matoom, made with bael (woodapple) fruit) while you have a look at the menu. I know, it's tough to decide on an appetizer, so allow me to think outside the box a bit (what else is new?) and suggest an item or two from their extensive Isaan (Northeastern Thai) section. The Sai Krok (pork/garlic sausage) comes with whole dried red chiles, peanuts and bits of galangal root (among other accompaniments) for texture and flavor contrasts in each bite. Another porky pleasure is the fermented and fried rib pieces (Naem Kradok Moo) - try them with a bamboo container of sticky rice and Bua's housemade chile/tamarind sauce (Nam Jim Jeow) for maximum enjoyment. Meanwhile, seafood lovers will like the pastry-wrapped fried shrimp (first marinated in Sato (rice wine)). But as wonderful as all of these starters sound, just wait until you hear about some of the restaurant's main courses! The fish curry called Gaeng Som is sometimes colloquially termed "orange curry" due to its color; the dish itself completely omits coconut milk in favor of tamarind pulp, shrimp paste and palm sugar, so the flavor profile is tangy and robust. Alternatively, how about Gaeng Massaman Neua - beef with potatoes and peanuts in an Indian-influenced curry rich with roasted cardamom, cloves and cinnamon? All your favorite noodle dishes (Pad Kee Mao, Lad Na...) and stirfries (Prik Pao, Pad Khing...) are here too so don't worry. Now, I know this is all a lot to think about but don't forget dessert! Blown away. Moved here from northern Virginia over 4 years ago and this is the best Thai that I've had in Colorado. Other places rely on "hot sauce" type spices for many dishes, but Bua uses what I assume are traditional thai spices in their dishes giving them warmth, spice, and an awesome depth of flavor (not flat "spicy" from Sriracha or something). We ordered Crispy Rolls, vegetable Pad Thai (no tofu), vegetable Rama Long Song (a curry), and vegetable Drunken Noodles. All of these were fabulous. We even brought home the sauce from the Rama Long Song to have over rice even though the veggies were gone. This is way out of our way, unless we're going to or from the airport, but we will be back. In summary - If you need your thai food to taste like 80% sriracha, this is not your place. But if you're looking for delicious, traditional thai food served in a lovely restaurant, try Bua Thai. read more

1st time I ordered the Bangkok duck for $22. It was supposed to be a chef special so I though it should be pretty good. What I got was 1/3 of a little duck and about 40% was this rubbery skin around the pieces...yuck!!!! Second time I came, and ordered pad Thai and what I got was overly greasy noodles with about 4 pieces of thin sliced beef. Third time, we ordered online. It clearly does not state that their pineapple fried rice has meat. What I got was the dish with meat and my wife is a vegetarian who by the way ordered the dish twice before without meat. This is definitely my favorite Thai restaurant in Denver area. Came in for the first time and I'm so glad I stopped by. Ordered their lunch special of Pad Thai with tofu and it was very well seasoned, so authentic but most importantly, my food were actually spicy when I asked for super hot. Most places their most spicy is not hot at all. The portion is very generous and for under $8 you can't beat this quality for that price. Now the Thai iced coffee.. so on point. It's not Sanamluang (my favorite Thai restaurant in So Cal) but it's darn close. I give this place 3 stars for takeout, as I don't know what it's like to eat there. Last year I got takeout a few times for my wife and I. I tried the pad Thai and pad Thai with crystal noodles. The shrimp still had the shell on, I get that some people like it that way. I just prefer they be deshelled before I receive it. Regardless the pad Thai wasn't bad, a little on the sweet side. I preferred the pad Thai with crystal noodles. I liked this one quite a bit. Neither was all that spicy, which might disappoint some customers. My other issue is that when you pick up, the register gives you tip amounts. If I'm not eating there and not having it delivered I don't feel I should be paying a tip. And I get it probably does this for every transaction, but I felt pressured to tip. While I like their pad Thai, I prefer Saigon Tokyo. But Saigon Tokyo charges an upcharge for delivery, so I suggest dine in there. Overall I would say I still enjoy their pad Thai, I just prefer deshelled shrimp. read more

Husband and I went for lunch at 11:30 on a Monday. There were about 5 other tables being waited on and 2 large party of 6-8 from the uniform, looks to be from Army. We ordered the Tofu Pad sa ew and the beef drunken noodle both medium spicy. It came with a veggie egg roll which was ok, but the soup was not good. I also had a Thai tea that was delicious and came in a canteen. Overall the food was ok but I've had better at other nearby Thai restaurants The service was really slow for a Monday. We ended our meal with the rice mango which was horrible. They microwaved the rice because the rice was hard and poured coconut milk on it and two slices of mango. I was so disappointed in the dessert. I was really hoping it would be great. The entire lunch lasted an hour. Friendly service but too long for lunch. read more

My local Thai place around the corner has just as delicious food for much less. As a result I only come here for their basil fried rice, but won't be doing that anymore either. Today, I paid $17.23 for fried rice. Same order as always, used to be $13, then $15, and now $17. They have also gotten my order wrong the past two times and I had to wait for them to make it. It wasn't really busy at all because there were two other tables there and even though we were seated and had ordered our food before them, the other tables got their food before us. Update-- we first found Bua the week it opened almost two years ago and it was superb. Since we live in Washington, DC and get to Denver to visit our son a couple times a year, we have been back to Bua periodically. Most recently this evening -- and it is still the best Thai restaurant we have found in the US. Tonight's dinner for three included the always great crispy papaya salad, green curry, and new additions crab cheese wontons (superb) and garlic shrimp -- cooked just perfectly. We only wish Bua was located in DC so it could be our favorite restaurant there. But we will keep coming back!! read more

I love that this place is not in a strip mall, and is decorated so adorably. The ambience is perfect! Casual is you'd like, but you can also feel good about a little dress up dinner here too. The staff is friendly and great! We had the Pad Thai and Papaya Salad and it was so delicious!! They even make it a little bit spicy for our gentle palettes! It was seriously so great. This Thai restaurant was amazed me a lot. We started from Tom Ka soup. It was typical Thai dish, however this tom Ka soup was really authentic! We ate Issan sausage and grilled pork. The sausage was hand made. It had nice flavor with condiment, peanuts, sliced ginger, etc. The grilled pork was nice. Kao soi, curry noodle soup, was really worthy to try! This was the reason to come here. I loved it so much! Thank you for serving delicious Kao Soi! I felt like going back to Chang Mai!
