We always loved this place... Used to be great. No more. Absolutely the worst dried out brisket we've ever had in our lives. When we told the waitress we couldn't eat it because it was so dry, we got a whopping 10% off (and yeah, she never came to check on how it was until we had finished the edible stuff) I asked her to look at how dry the brisket was and she said "I don't eat brisket" and turned around and walked away without even looking! Dave had the brisket plate which was the inedible brisket, garlic toast, broccoli and fries and Becky had the brisket & rib (3 very small half ribs) combo, garlic toast, coleslaw and fries. And we both had unsweetened tea... So we pretty much had protein-less meals for $39.75!!! And that was AFTER that gracious 10% discount for the inedible brisket. Never again...

This was a good restaurant! We stopped on the way home from kayaking by rainbow springs. It's a great spot to stop if your traveling. When you first walk in you see a cool BBQ atmosphere. Lots of unique nicknacks on the wall. They were a little short staffed (but everywhere is!!) The waitress was really friendly and explained the menu and items she likes and are popular. I got the Buffalo chicken sandwich. It was good flavor. Spicy but not too much. The Mac and cheese was delicious! My friend got two sides and was so full she had to take it home. They have over 9 bbq flavors on the table to try and see which you like. Give this place a visit!

The food was absolutely great. Definitely loved the ribs. It was our first time there and we ordered the combo: chicken, shrimp and ribs. BBQ LoversBarbeque ChickenBBQ Lovers

Bad food. Weird environment. The other 3 people who were eating there were sitting alone and there was awkwardly no music or anything so they just sat there and butted in our conversations and it was sorta weird. I get that these were just some nice lonely small town people but it wasn't just one polite interruption it was literally hard to eat our food. The server was a sweetheart and the food was blah. Just an awkward place to eat without good enough food to justify it.

    Great sportsman décor!

We met Mark, the owner, who is friendly and offered great suggestions. I had the Brisket Sandwhich with mashed sweet potatoes and an order of sweet potato hush puppies. The seasoning was perfect! Not too salty, so smooth. My husband's meat was cut to the perfect Slice and so tender, he also had the corn bread that was delicious. The beans and slaw were great sides. NOT for the snooty or stuffy customer. If you get offended when the owner jokes with you as he takes your order, PLEASE don't come here. Your attitude embarrasses us all. His demeanor is like that gruff old man who accepts that he has to repeat the specials, but who can't resist chiding you about it. All the staff is wonderful, but he stands out with his banter. For a lunch, or just tea and a scone, definitely try Sweeties.

Fried chicken was really tasty with a perfect crunch and juicy chicken. The fried catfish was breaded with cornmeal, perfectly crispy, also well seasoned and very moist and tender inside. The tartar sauce was homemade and very good but they also have a good peppered vinegar. Between us all we had an opportunity to try a lot of sides. Hush puppies which one of our hush puppy lovers said was the best she ever had (I'm not a fan of these overall so I can't really say). The potato salad was very good, creamy, with just a hint of onion and relish. Baked potatoes and sweet potatoes were enjoyed by all. Loved the crispy okra and green beans. Collard greens were also good. Of course, we couldn't leave without trying the pies. Caramel apple walnut was a little too nutty for me but it was still good. They key lime was my personal fave -- the crust was a good crumbly graham cracker that was definitely home made. We also had a lemon meringue and the chocolate coconut cream pie, which was essentially a half and half with chocolate cream and the bottom and coconut cream on the top. Both had beautiful, moist meringues with nicely toasted tops. On top of good food, we had a great waitress who was super attentive and very patient and friendly.
