This place does not even deserve one star, (more like a 1/4) but because I have too for Yelp that's what it will get. Just moved in the area and passed by and wanted to give it a try. There not much around in SunCity/Ruskin area besides hamburgers, fried chicken and Pizza. So I ordered my food; I got the St. Louis ribs w/ 2 sides (Mac n Cheese & Bake beans) for myself, wife and step-son to go. The sides were decent but that crap they call barbeque ain't nothing but slow cooked meat in the oven with a bunch of rub and liquid smoke to make you think your eating barbeque. Just terrible. Soggy meat to make you think it's tender fall off the bone. Barbeque should have some texture. Then the rub was spread all over it like it's been in a real pit. Then they had the audacity, the gall to put liquid smoke in them to give it an outdoor smoke taste. This is the worst barbeque I have ever had. I'm rough on commercial barbeque places but I would have been pleased a whole lot better by going up the street to Sonny' s which also has imitation barbeque. Food was 'average' I had a sandwich which I believe is called the Double Bubba? It was pulled pork with a couple slices of brisket served on Texas toast. I also had a side of mac & cheese which I could swear tasted exactly like the Stouffer's mac & cheese. It wouldn't surprise me if it was. The sandwich was medium warm, not hot but the meat was still decent. We did take this order out so I can understand if it wasn't as hot as eating in store. My parents both ordered the St. Louis platter and they were not really impressed. The ribs were a tad 'skimpy' for what are usually huge St. Louis ribs. The tractor sauce which we all used was sweet yet mild, not spicy, and I actually liked the sauce (I'm sure it's loaded with sugar, but I didn't check the ingredients. The food was ready when they said it would be however they forgot a brownie that I ordered and charged us for it. I haven't called to see how they may rectify that. Again since I just think this is average, our search will continue for better BBQ. read more

I got to be honest, this is the worst food I've ever had that dared to call itself bbq. Took all I had to choke it down because I don't send stuff back or complain. Everything is from a bag or container. The pulled pork was completely flavorless. The fried pickles were soggy and undercooked. The ranch dressing was store bought. The garlic bread was only toasted on one side. The potato salad ... really? You call that disaster of a store bought bulk crap potato salad? I will never eat here again. BBQ pulled pork was great. Fries were just okay. But I loved the fried pickles! It is so hard to find places where the batter sticks to the pickles. Six different sauces, I had the hickory, delicious. And fried Okra was very good. Waitress was friendly and the manager stopped by to be sure we were enjoying it. Went for lunch on a Tue. after a hectic morning & was extremely hungry after not eating breakfast. We greeted & promptly seated by a very nice gentleman. Ordered poppers for my appetizer & 1/4 chicken platter (picked collard greens & brocolli for my sides). Waited about 7 minutes for my lunch. Received the chicken platter & had to ask the server about the poppers since I never received them. The chicken looked & tasted like leftovers that had been microwaved. Can you say DRY! Thank God for the sauces, I picked the Rump Roaster sauce. Peeled the salty skin off the leg/thigh (not even a 1/4 chicken as stated on the menu). Sad to say the brocolli was the best part of the meal, good seasoning, not too much butter & were still green & had a slight crunch to them. The collards were too salty. They seem to be okay when I first tasted them, however the build up of salt intensified with each bite. I couldn't finish them. Finally received the Poppers. To my horror, they were smoked & then fried. They were sitting in grease. Sorry, I was not going to put those into my mouth. Asked the waiter to take them back & take them off my bill. Poppers cost $7. Price for the meal was excellent, only $8.02 with taxes for the chicken platter. However when you factor in cost vs value, I have to say it was not a good value since bad food is not worth the cost no matter how reasonable. Lesson learned for me... if I can't find a BBQ spot with my nose, it's probably not going to be good. Secondly, if I decide to go in any way and still don't smell mouth watering BBQ leave or just order a salad. To the server & wait staff, you guys were excellent! I don't know if my visit was on the wrong day & wrong time...the food was horrible in both appearance and taste. I deleted my last review of Bubbaques because I was upset with the food at the time I did my review and you should never do a review when you're upset. Let me start this new review by saying the ribs were tougher than an old Kentucky mule! I'm not exaggerating. It was like trying to chew leather that had rub and sauce on it. The brisket tasted like plain, bland meat. If it were slow cooked it sure wasn't smoked one bit, it was again, bland and it didn't even have a smoke ring. The other stuff was ok. After seeing all the other 4 and five star reviews I'm half tempted to go back there to see if they got their **** together, better cooks or something. I wanted to like the place, it's so convenient and there's very little (good) bar-b-que around here. read more

Love this place for BBQ. Went there for Cinco de mayo and had great deals on food and beer. Service was excellent.

I went there this Tuesday and got take-out the food was subpar a bit greasy for my liking but the customer service was great and they were very warm and welcoming. I ordered the buffalo shrimp which came with your choice of side which I chose fried okra. The food unfortunately wasn't very memorable for the $10 I paid I could've gotten more satisfaction at Wendy's. read more

Finally made it in to Bubbaques and I will tell you what all the ranting and raving is true. They have some of the best St. Louis style ribs I have ever had (excellent dry rub and fall off the bone tender), the wife ordered the pulled pork which was great as well (moist and great smoked flavor), for sides you must try the fried corn and jalapeño poppers. Aside from the food the service was good, with a warm welcome "Howdie Welcome to Bubbaques" from the staff and the constant friendly faces you will feel right at home. Their pulled pork has gone downhill over the past few months. We use to think it was good, but not anymore.

When BubbaQue's first opened, my husband and I would order take out. Initially the food was very good. We have had numerous issues with this location, including receiving the wrong telephone order, actually sitting at a table waiting to be served, and just last evening, the worst overcooked chicken I have ever tried. We oft times order food and pick it up, when I got home and realized we got the wrong order (someone got our order) I called and the person who answered the phone actually laughed and thought it was funny. I did speak with the manager and he made an excuse for the person as being young and she did not know better. He did give us a $10 dollar credit for our trouble. We stopped by one evening a few months back, I met my husband there on our way home. We order a drink from the bar and then took them to a table, we then waited for 20 minutes without anyone acknowledging us. There was only one other table with customers there and you could see and hear it was the waitress family. No one waited on us. We paid for our drinks and left. I again decided to try BubaQue's last evening and placed a phone order of two half chickens, when I opened the aluminum foil you could tell the chicken was in a warmer the entire day, the meat was dried out, the bone actually was brittle from being so over done. I tried to eat some of it, but it was so over cooked it was impossible to eat. I threw it out and rather then calling again to complain, I decided to just write a review. This was the final straw, I will never go back. it is a shame as I really do like the chicken at BubbaQue's but it is not worth it to me go back again, a waste of time, bad service and now bad food. If I could I would give them no stars. read more

Tried out this BBQ joint for the first time a few days ago. There are limited options for BBQ in the area and I want to say I was quite impressed. Together at my table, we tried the St. Louis ribs, fried jumbo shrimp, brisket, chicken wings, Mac n cheese, jalepeno poppers and Texas toast. The ribs were fall off the bone good, flavorful and smokey (definitely 100x better than Sonny's ribs which are 1 mile down he road). The chicken wings were small-medium size with good smokiness through them. The brisket was tender, thick cut, delicious although a bit on the drier side. The jumbo shrimp were definitely jumbo and we got them with buffalo sauce so there wasn't much of a crunch or crispiness to the coating but they were juicy inside. The jalepeno poppers are real jalepenos without seeds, filled with a cream cheese filling, rapped in bacon and tossed in sugar before cooked making them more sweet than spicy. I had to scrape off some sugar or else I'd get a mouth full of sugar when in it into them, other than that they were delicious. The Mac and cheese was okay - not very flavorful but is creamy and thick. The toast is only toasted on one side, which didn't bother me. In addition, service time was quick - we sat and was attended to quickly (the restaurant only had 2 other tables occupied and some folks at the bar). Our food was served very quickly, not sure on timeliness, most likely within 15 minutes. Overall, BubbaQues definitely over-exceeded our expectations and we enjoyed our meal thoroughly. I definitely recommend checking them out and trying their BBQ because I have to say they did a great job. read more

After work today I decided I wanted a mediocre pork sandwich for lunch and thought of BubbaQue's because I've eaten it once before and I didn't get sick so why not try it again. So I walked in around 1:30pm looked around and saw there were maybe 3 tables occupied so my thought was I would be out of there in no time since they simply have to put the pork in a to-go box cash me out and I would be on my way to eating the mediocre pork sandwich I craved today. BUT, after waiting for 5 minutes for one of the multiple employees to acknowledge my existence in their hardly occupied mediocre BBQ place, I soon realized that if I wanted someone to take my order I better grab a menu from one of multiple unoccupied tables and sit at the bar. So after watching the waitresses text and talk to each other and some other employee and maybe that employee's wife carry a baby in the kitchen, one of them finally got around to taking my order. After 15 minutes of waiting a different waitress walks by and asks 'did so and so cash you out yet?' I said 'no' so she went to her terminal asked for my name and said my name wasn't in the system and she needed to check. She comes back after a few more minutes apologizing saying that my order was never entered in the computer and do I want her to enter my order and cash me out. I said "no" politely and walked out, even though I had wasted half an hour of my day for absolutely nothing when all I wanted was a mediocre pork sandwich. Never again will I step foot in BubbaQue's. There are other mediocre pork sandwiches that can be had via drive thru elsewhere. read more
