My husband and I enjoyed dinner at bubbaques sun city center the other night. We had the dinner deal 12.99 full slab baby backs and 2 sides. We also tried the 6 jerk flavored chicken wings for an appetizer. Wowowowow the best wings we have ever had! The ribs were awesome and the sides were amazing jalapeno poppers, they were homemade. The fried okra was yum and all the bbq sauces were great. The best part was the server Suzanne she was one of the friendliest ladies and very attentive. We will be back soon. read more

Excellent BBQ. I got the piggyback ribs and they were smokey and juicy with a hint of sweetness. Their jalapeno peppers are bacon wrapped and to DIE for. They are not spicy but full of flavor. Their sweet potatoe crinkle fries are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the service is fast and efficient. All of the waitresses are very nice and attentive as well. read more

Before you read this review, there is something you should know. I normally dislike barbecue places, but my boyfriend has been here on his lunch break before, and when I couldn't decide where I wanted to go, he suggested this place. I went in expecting not to enjoy it, because I absolutely despise most barbecue restaurants. They're just not my thing. I insisted on looking at a menu before I would even let them seat us. I was just really expecting to not enjoy it at all. I decided to give it a shot and I was pleasantly surprised! He ordered a half rack of ribs (which he claims were delicious and I believe him, since he picked them clean). I ordered a chicken tender basket with 2 sides. I chose macaroni and onion rings. The macaroni and cheese tasted like pure plastic, (even he agreed with me and sent his back) and the noodles were mushy. It was not good at all. That's what held them back from getting 5 stars, mostly. Their onion rings however, completely blew my mind. They were incredible! They more than made up for the mac & cheese not being up to par. Needed more salt, but otherwise they were soooo good... It's very hard to find homemade onion rings in this area and I could they were battered by hand. The chicken was incredible and very satisfying, it was filleted and hand battered in delicious breading and it wasn't bland at all, it actually had flavor to it. They have a ton of different sauces available to try. I highly recommend their Moonshine sauce, it was by far my favorite! The only thing is that I wish it was a little thicker. If they added some Worcestershire sauce or steak sauce to it, it might be perfect. I didn't expect to find any of their sauces to be to my liking but that one was delicious and perfect for the chicken. I didn't like their buffalo sauce at all though, it felt like it was too thick and not salty enough, like it needed butter or something maybe. I will be trying others again another time. And yes, I will be going back. The waitstaff was very friendly and one of the managers even came over to talk to us. The waitress was all smiles and seemed to genuinely enjoy her job. She was happy to get us whatever we wanted and she had a great knowledge of the menu. She was even understanding when we first went in and I said I miiiight not want to eat there. (Too many bad experiences with lousy barbecue places, lol.) The food was good, portions were huge, and the pricing is fair, not very bad at all. All in all though, it was a great experience, much better than I had expected. They went above and beyond my expectations. And it was good enough to make me want to go back, which is pretty amazing, considering I HATE barbecue! First time visit. Very disappointed. I spent $42. what a complete waste. Tables sticky and Way too expensive for what you get. The chicken tasted like chicken I could buy at walmart and over season at home. Just awful taste and texture. The collard greens had a lot of sugar or something in them did not taste right at all. After three attempts for pickup and every I mean EVERY order was missing something or short of what was ordered and every time we contacted the management all they could do is ask me to drive back and pick up what they forgot!! I ordered 18 wings and got 15 this time called and said come back and pick them up like I was lying or something. Either the help is shorting the pick ups or they can't count and don't care. Wings don't come with Celery unless you ask for Wings???? Asked for BBQ sauce and there was none!!!! I ate at Bubbaques Sun City Center tonight. They have the same menu as Brandon which has excellent food. I had excellent service with Sinney. I had my choice of football on television and watched a great game. Great staff- friendly customers and lordy an unimaginablely good brownie sundae. Plenty of seating and a great outside view. The St. Louis ribs are to die for. Love the jalapeno poppers and that you can order some with your dinner and not just as an appetizer! They are delicious. My husband and I have dined here frequently and have never been disappointed in any of our food choices or the service. The waitresses and owner are very friendly and personable. Bacon on jalapeño poppers had me from the start. Fried pickles were crispy outside and in, not soggy like most places. Sweet tea was fresh brewed and perfectly sweetened, glass never ran empty. Had pulled pork, brisket and smoked turkey for entree... no sauce needed... fall apart tender and moist, nice smoke ring for a "fast food" BBQ place. We came around 9 on a Friday night. We are the only ones in here and we have been waiting over 30 minutes for our food. They even shut off the music before we got our food. Consistent in their food. Not necessarily a place I am like "oh I have to take our out of town guest here". My husband has been hit or miss with the brisket but the pulled pork, chicken wings and bacon jalapeño poppers are always on point. Their sauces are also delicious. Moved here from Tenn, came with friends visiting from there too. Tn ppl consider themselves BBQ experts and we all agree this was as good, if not better than anything we had there. Our server, Brandy, was attentive, the manager came out too. 7 different sauces including the moonshine which is vinager based which you don't see too often. For appitisers we had Bubba nuggetd and jalapino poppers both great! Main course was ribs and pulled pork, both of which were excellent too. We got a Bubbaques menu flyer in the mail. We live close by the new Sun City Center restaurant. After looking the menu over we thought we would head on over and give them a try. Upon reaching Bubbaques my wife was impressed with the decor. We were seated right away, and my wife ordered the pulled pork and ribs in a basket. Her two ribs were so salty she couldn't taste the meat flavor. She was then put off by the room temperature of the extra salty pulled pork, you know possible food poisoning. They need to heat it before sending it out, so she didn't eat it. Myself, I ordered the Smoked sliced turkey with collards and broccoli. You know trying to eat healthy. Instead of getting fresh sliced smoked turkey, I was served sliced packaged turkey that had an unnatural smoked flavor. That's the kind of meat that is always preserved with nitrates, you know nitrates as in carcinogens. My collards tasted like they came out of a salty can. Oh Yeah the steamed broccoli was great , and we both enjoyed the Bubba Bread. read more

Very good bbq. Better option than the neighboring sonnys. I got the mother clucker and it was really good. The rest of the family got the brisket and all seemed really happy with it. They have a large variety of sauces, which is nice, bound to have something for the whole family. This place is definitely good (hence the ****). Their strong suits include great food (especially their sides), large variety of great sauces, and a pleasant laid back atmosphere. They really don't have any downsides, other than their prices being a little high. Service is inconsistent, which most restaurants are prone to, but usually friendly and capable. Their jalapeño poppers are exceptional, and their collard greens are awesome with moonshine sauce. Also, the ribs are very good, but I usually get their pulled pork which is excellent. The only thing I would discourage anyone from getting is the smoked turkey, but that's just me. read more

We decided to try something new this evening - what a mistake and waste of $35.02!! We had a really terrible carry out meal from BubbaQue's in Sun CIty Center this evening. Overpriced - bland and dry pulled pork & brisket, and the chicken didn't appear to be smoked - tasted like liquid smoke. The coleslaw was horrible (straight down the disposal.) My husband said the shrimp and fried okra was just okay. I ended up eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich after tossing my meal in the trash. Sonny's sauces are by far better. The staggering thing was that three moderate to small lunches, two teas and a coffee with an additional side salad (honey mustard dressing was really sour) was $70.
