Fatty thick brisket that had smell

We ordered a pound of brisket and a large side of baked beans take out on 10/11/24. When we opened food it smelled and tasted a bit off. It looked horrible, fatty and thick cut. We ate a little but my husband started feeling sick and I got really sick later in the night. Obviously we are going to throw leftovers out. We live paycheck to paycheck so this hurts. We had hoped to have leftovers during weekend. Very disappointed. Btw - we did warm food on high heat and shredded meat in order kill any bacteria and make meat less chewy yet we still got sick on just a few bites.

This is my favorite BBQ place I've ever been to. I got the double wide sandwich with cole slaw and sweet potato fries. The brisket was absolutely delicious! My favorite part was the variety of delicious sauce on the table. The service was quick and efficient as well. i highly recommend !!

    Cool seating and decorations!!

Great food. Dry rub bbq, which is not typical of the area. Food came out piping hot and staff was great too! You will not be disappointed

Bill's is a family-owned barbecue restaurant located on the main road in "downtown" Chiefland. It has a private parking lot, and there are multiple entrances/exits both on the main road, and the road that runs behind the building. On this day, we visited for lunch on a Monday in June around noon. There is definitely a regular lunch crowd that eats at this place, so it was lively. However, we had no problem getting a table right away. I have personally never had to wait for a table when dining here. For seating, there are primarily booths with some regular tables. When I visit, I typically get whatever the Daily Special is. These seem to stay the same week-to-week, and since this was a Monday it was the Pork Sandwich with the Salad Bar for $11.25. However, they have a large menu with various lunch specials, salads, sandwiches, and other barbeque items to choose from. There are also family packs and take-out options available. I personally love the Salad Bar here. My favorite lettuce is iceberg, and that is the base they offer. They have most of the typical toppings you would expect to find on a Salad Bar, along with some pasta/broccoli/chicken salad-type offerings. There are several different dressings, along with crackers and chips to pair with your creations. For the Pork Sandwich, you get to choose between a bun or garlic toast. I always opt for the garlic toast, as it seems many other do also. It is not pulled pork, but rather thicker slices piled on the bread. The sandwich does not come with sauce, but on the table there are three different barbeques to choose from - regular, sweet, or hot. As typical, the sandwich was great and the meat was not dry at all. Our server was kind and took great care of us during our lunch. The staff seems to get to know their customers, as it appears they recognize most patrons when they are coming in. I enjoyed this particular visit to Bill's, as I typically do. Especially with the daily and lunch specials, I believe it is a good value for quality food. It has a small town atmosphere that is comforting, making you feel right at home. I would definitely recommend giving Bill's a try if you find yourself in the area, or are looking for a new spot to try.

The wait staff did the best they could to deal, but were a bit overwhelmed. My Rueben was quite good. It's apparently a specialty of theirs. My wife enjoyed her ham with her two sides. Great place to stop on the road, but it won't be ten minutes and you're gone. Once you order, it's really quite quick.

The young lady behind the counter was friendly, patient, and handled all of our questions like a true professional. The food was excellent across the board. My daughter ordered the burger, my wife had the salmon and turkey, my son had the ribs, and I went with the Yardbird. Everything was cooked perfectly, and no one had a single complaint. We tried a variety of sides, and the mac and cheese was the clear family favorite. While we were eating, we had a nice conversation with one of the ladies working in the dining room. She surprised us by bringing over two blueberry cobblers on the house, which was incredibly thoughtful. It was honestly the best blueberry cobbler I've ever had. Great food, outstanding service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely be coming back. On a second visit My son and I stopped in for dinner after our CAP meeting. We placed our order and went to get our drinks. Shortly afterward, our order was ready. We both chose the smoked cheddar burger. I would have liked it to be a little hotter, but it was still very good. Of course, we paired it with fries and mac and cheese. While we were getting our food, I noticed a gentleman who had arrived before us was still waiting. He spoke with the manager and explained that he had already been waiting about 20 minutes and had not been called. The manager immediately apologized and had his order prepared on the spot. He then went a step further and issued the gentleman a full refund. It turns out the gentleman was a U.S. Navy veteran. Respect to Mission BBQ for doing the right thing and putting their customers first. That level of service still matters.

The sign out front advertises Thursday night special is a prime rib dinner. Hmmm. I wonder how much a piece of prime rib will cost here? Prime rib elsewhere runs about $26 or more, depending on the sides you get with it. So I go in and wait while they're clearing some tables, but this nice tall fellow asks me if I'm also waiting for a table and I reply with a smile and a yes. He asks how many? I hold up my index finger and he smiles and asks if I'd like to be seated outside on the porch--it's a nice evening, not hot--it's screened in and there's no bugs, so I knod approvingly and grab myself a small table with just the two seats. Also seated outside happened to be a lovely older couple who asked this fellow about their reservations coming up to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. I was unaware you could reserve the back porch for special events along with the "back yard" that's littered with the odd seating from rocking chairs to picnic benches, games of all kinds and even a quasi fire pit. Looks like they're going to have a great time with their family--some of whom are flying in from as far as Oregon. The interior is almost like walking into a Cracker Barrel but not as crowded--gifts, canned goods, pickled things, candy and lip balm. Cute cards and bottled wine. Everything intriguing and eye-catchingly clean and dust free. I've found that annoys me when items are left to gather dust and I think to myself "is it extra for the accumulation of dust on top?". I go ahead and decide to try their prime rib special, but forego the baked potato because there's no way I could eat all those carbohydrates...I get a small side salad and a small serving of "cowboy" beans, which are probably pinto beans . I also order their "cowboy" egg rolls and figure I'll eat a little and take the rest home. My salad comes to me and it's nothing fancy, but fresh and crisp. Then my egg rolls. Dipped in some ranch, they're really good. Coleslaw, briskety goodness. Not far into my first 1/2 of an egg roll, out comes my prime rib and it looks GORGEOUS! So glad I decided against getting a huge baked potato, because I ended up pouring the beans on the same plate, where they took a nice swim in the accompanying au jus. I've had lots of prime rib before. Always cooked in an oven and with tons of herbs on the outside. This is one I'd never had before in my whole life. Smoked prime rib. What a flavor difference! Usually, what's on the outside and the au jus and/or horseradish adds some flavor to a prime rib. Smokiness never enters that picture. It's a whole other taste/flavor sensation you're not expecting and are surprised when this tender piece of meat hits your tongue! So good! Will I go back? You betcha! $19.99 for a huge chunky slice of smoked prime rib and two sides? Heck yeah! There's a special most days, I heard. I'm going to hafta check out the rest of the days! Good service, good food and fabulous prices--NOW I know why they were packed!
