While I've missed having LJS in the Jacksonville area, and it provided a little nostalgia to visit in Ocala, it didn't really hit the mark. Fish was much smaller than the last visit years ago - I'm thinking half. I will say that the customer service at this location was excellent. Very friendly and fast so kudos to the team. Prepackaged tartar and cocktail sauces were subpar - maybe the dine-in sauces are better. For the food, based on this visit, I wouldn't drive out of my way for a return visit. If you're in the mood for some good old fashioned fried fish or shrimp LJS is a pretty good choice. Lots of menu options and they also have a baked fish dinner that is good. This is a fast food restaurant and the service is usually nice. Very affordable and tasty. read more

This was my 3rd Long John Silver's visit and I just so happy to be in the area lol. I drove about 35 mins to Ocala to get an oil change but once I was there I couldn't drive back home without stopping at this old family favorite restaurant. One thing that caught my eye at the drive through was their new Waffle fries (not in pictures) The staff were so long to make my food fresh, but the waffle fries were too hard but they staff were kind enough to substitute it for another slaw. These pics are from a prior meal because I had to hope back on the road but a full review can be found on my TikTok. The drive thru wasn't a long wait to so that was pleasant. I also tried their chocolate cheesecake which was delicious, you must try it. My overall experience was a 10/10 I will travel there again! read more

Last decembuary I visited this fine establishment and the food was fine, nothing super note worthy. UNTILL Dincle P. (No relation) told me to revisit the joint, and as soon as I got there it was like a whole new restaurant! The staff came up to me and greeted me very kindly. Then when I was ordering the waitress was a pleasure to have. Though as soon as I got my food that is when things did unfortunately take a turn. The lobster on the plate was DEAD and not alive. It really struck the fear of god in me and I immediately stood up to go to the bathroom to recuperate my thoughts. On the way to the bathroom the living lobsters were whispering evil thoughts to me, thoughts that no human should ever think. So I immediately reached in the tank violently and grabbed as many lobsters as I could and brought them into the bathroom with me and I shoved them into the sink, and I turned on the water trying to drown them. I left them in there and I was getting kinda board after a few seconds so I walked into a bathroom stall and Master Splinter was in the toilet for me. He told me that a true Ninja needs to have a sound mind to eat at this establishment, and if one isn't a ninja at all they will loose their mine to the insanity. So he taught me how to become a ninja and I left the stall feeling proud. I then accidentally opened the wrong door in the bathroom and when I intended on leaving I discovered one of many 'butterball underground fighting arenas' where dozens and dozens of turkeys were forced to fight to the death. I turned the other way and the lobsters I tried to drown escaped and started a revolution, starting with freeing the turkeys. I tried to run away but they took my leg. I had to bite the head off a few of the creatures and the flavor was better than I was expecting. I ended up leaving with my life luckily. In summary, even though I didn't have a full meal the food was fine (like last time) and the service was pretty delightful! I would give this restaurant a 5 out of 5 but MoistCritical doesn't like this place so that is why this has been given such a low rating. read more

Great food and great staff it was clean and food fresh and hot go there every time I got to Ocala to see my parents

So we don't have these at home anymore so I try to swing by when I am near one. This one was pretty today. It was Friday, so they have $1 crab cakes. Which seemed to be a go to for quite a bit of customers. I went with the standard fish and shrimp meal. Made fresh to order it was piping hot. Exactly how I remembered it growing up as a kid. The staff was friendly and helpful when we were deciding on what to get. Not all tables are open inside and you will have to get sauces and drinks from the staff as they do not have them out for self serve. The inside was pretty clean as well. Long line in the drive thru but it was moving pretty quickly. Bathrooms were also clean as well. read more

I have a nostalgia for a long John silvers from my childhood and teenage years. The recipes haven't changed the food is just as good although I don't eat fried foods as much as I used to. The building could use some work it's older but the staff are super friendly and helpful. read more

Worst ever, ordered meal through doordash well before cut off time. The order was accepted, but the manager refused to make for the driver who was there. Yes it's an old building and original location. the drive thru doesn't work but I found the service inside to be very friendly and the fish what you would expect from Long John Silvers. I got the pollock and the cod to try them both and prefer the original Long John Silver fish which is pollock. there aren't many fish fry places around anymore yes the place needs an overhaul, but I found the service and food to be very good read more

This place deserves an excellent rating. It doesn't present too well but it's clean, the food is great and the people are terrific. We've driven 10 or so miles out of the way just to go there. My wife and I ate here and I sure hate to see that this place has let the food quality go down so quick. It's the only fast food fish House in Ocala, that I know of, so it's either here or Captain D's out by Lady lake. Super greasy fish, dry chicken and cold fries. Horrible place. We should have turned and left the moment we smelled the aroma of the joint. What a let down from what this restaurant used to be. The food was even worse than the smell.
