I found a piece of bone fragment in the shotgun shrimp appetizer I was chewing and then bit into it. I showed the waitress what was in the appetizer she told her manager Jordy Mendoza and he tried to convince me that it wasn't a bone yet he had already thrown it away. They absolutely love the pizzas here, and I appreciated the late-night specials from 9-11 pm (which I'll definitely keep in mind for future visits). Bubba's 33 is pretty nice place with a good location right off the Expressway by the McAllen Convention Center. The server that we had was very attentive and kind. The night we went they were hosting a fundraiser for multiple sclerosis. The parking was great and plenty to do around there. We started with the Layered Cheese Fries and those were fantastic. They tasted just like potato skins. The cheese was amazing, the sauce on it was good and very fresh. My wife ordered the Italian Chopped Salad. The Lemon Basil Vinaigrette is so good. It's also a lot of food. The garlic focaccia bread that came with it was fantastic. Very fresh. I ordered a side salad with the Lemon Basil and the South of the Border Burger. The burger itself had very good flavor. The cheese sauce was great. The only thing I couldn't really taste was the chorizo. I wish that had a more prominent flavor in the burger. This was our second visit. This time we were in a group of eight folks. They quickly looked for and found us seating in the bar area. Several folks had the fish and chips and really liked them. The wife had a salad topped with chicken strips which she said was really good too. I had the Chicken and Shrimp combo with two sides - tater tots and a house salad. The salad was excellent. I especially enjoyed the crispy onion straws and their ranch dressing. The tots were nice and crispy and I got quite a few of them. The shrimp were PERFECTLY cooked; nice and crunchy on the outside and absolutely perfect inside, not overdone as is the case in many places. The coating also had a little spice to it. My chicken strips were nice and crunchy but a little dry inside. Not horribly over cooked, just a little, hence the four star rating. Overall I'd definitely come back again. read more

I was told this is owned by Texas roadhouse which I love and it's one of my favorite restaurants which cause me to expect the same quality when it came to the food but it fell a little short of that. I had The Bubba pizza which had pepperoni sausage and bacon. The taste was not very great it simply tasted very plain. I also had the Chorizo chips which once again fell very short of good tasting.
