Visited for lunch, shortly after the lunch rush. Tried to get on a waitlist ahead of time, but online I received a message "just come on in, there's no wait". When we got inside the host told us the wait was about 15 minutes. Boo, one big reason why you're not five stars right there. Got seated, and once there I saw that the majority of the restaurant was empty. There were maybe only 7 other tables occupied, so why the wait then? Our server was fantastic. I'm part of their e-club and got a free appetizer. I chose the sweet and spicy boneless chicken. This was SO GOOD - would highly recommend. There was plenty for 3-4 people to share as an app. Ordered the Outlaw ribeye as it's supposed to be a big piece of meat. During lunch the entrees get only one side, at dinner you supposedly get two. I got the mashed potatoes. I got the peach iced tea which I wasn't a big fan of. We were served a loaf of bread to start us off which was very hard to cut and I wish we'd gotten another one given our group size. Mashed potatoes: great. For being the only chain steakhouse on north 10th st you'd think they would take pride on their service and there food . That was the opposite of what we experienced last night . We got there at 6:40 , table for 8 5 adults 2 kids and a high chair , was told 20/25 min wait tops . There were booths available and plenty of space . 30 minutes go by I ask and was told it's going to be another 20 to 25 minute wait . Keep in mind it was my father in laws 70th birthday and he wanted to eat there . I get it I've been a server before , worked in the industry but when the hostess tells me 20/25 minutes really means 40-45 minutes I start to get upset . Was told " sir you don't have to get mad " I do when I have a. 2 year old who's been waiting for almost an hour , who's hungry and crying because u was told the wait wouldn't be that long . We finally got seated after almost an hour to wait for another 10 minutes before a waiter or anyone approached us . We ordered Sri js and waited another 10-15 minutes before they got there . Once they got there we ordered our food because we knew it would take another 30/45 minutes before it came out . I ordered another drink as did someone else from the table . It never came , nor did the extra bread we ordered . I went to the bar and upended a tab , got bread and took it back to the table . Food showed up and was bland and tasteless . So not worth the wait nor the bill . It's a shame that this location has unmotivated children working as servers and hostesses . We learned last night it's better to just buy streaks at he. And grill them ourselves . Never again . If you are the manager or the owner you should look into this . The bartender working last night was awesome I'll give y'all that ! read more

Our salads take 20 minutes to be brought out and right after that our steaks arrive. It starts to get busy and we never see our server again. We had to ask the seating lady for our ticket and to- go plates. LH maybe you should set a designated day/time for staff to thoroughly clean tables/lamps/menus. Longhorns is a family favorite. One of my best experiences there was when a waiter suggested something I had never tried before. I didn't ask him for a suggestion, but he highly recommended the Flo's steak because I wanted mine well done. He said it would be juicier if I went with that option as opposed to my go-to ribeye. My wife and I had dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse tonight. We've come here several times before and always enjoyed it. We were seated promptly and our server took our drink order while we looked over the menu. My wife ordered her usual ice tea and I ordered the peach iced tea. The peach iced tea is sweet. Our server also brought out the hot loaf of bread which is quite good. We had a coupon for a free appetizer, so we ordered the Wild West Shrimp, One of our favorites. We both ordered the 8 oz. sirloin cooked medium. I also had a salad with blue cheese dressing, and a loaded baked potato. My wife had the tomato basil soup and a sweet potato. I was disappointed with the blue cheese dressing as they thinned it down with either water or milk. Years ago I worked at a restaurant where the owner had us thin the blue cheese dressing with milk to save money, and I recognize the tactic. Bad idea. Other than that the salad was good. The tomato basil soup was delicious, my wife had me try it. Our steaks were cooked perfectly for which we are grateful. But that is to be expected at a steakhouse. The potatoes were also very good as expected. Our service tonight was not up to par. We both finished our drinks and waited quite a while before our server came by and offered to refresh them. Since we were ready to go by that time, she offered to put them in a to go glass. We received our bill and I noticed we were charged for the appetizer because the server forgot the coupon. I had to bring that to her attention and she corrected the bill. It always pays to pay attention to the bill! I went there for lunch on the way down to Rio Grand Valley. I was a little scared, because I have pretty heavy dietary restrictions, and sometimes I am not able to be accommodated. But from start to finish, our server was AMAZING! He didn't looked disturbed when I asked TONS of questions, and was even less disturbed when it was my turn to order. It was seamless. Birthday boys Delmonico came with a big ol jalapeno on top....wrong chili...and he doesn't eat spicy. He is confrontational and suffered through the heat. This is review is based on the Longhorn Steakhouse on North 10th street in McAllen Texas. When my family of 4 arrived, he place was practically empty. I was surprised it was empty despite being a Sunday evening (around 7pm). As we were walked to our table, we walked past two other empty tables were families had left but the mess they had left behind hadn't been cleaned yet. There was also a lot of crumbs and other food chunks on the floor in the surrounding area. The table we were taken to had to be cleaned up before we could sit down. As our orders were taken, I kept looking at the other unclean tables. A family of three was eating at a booth behind us. When they left, their mess was also left relatively untouched for a good while. It took about 20 minutes into our arrival before anyone began to take care of the tables around us. Again, the place didn't look packed there seemed to be more than enough staff to have attended to the matter. Regarding the food, it was delicious, which is why I give it three stars. I ordered a medium rare ribeye, which they knew how to prepare properly. It's hard finding restaurants in the Rio Grande Valley that can prepare a medium rare steak without it being chewy but soft to the bite. My concern with the waitress that night is that I had ordered steak fries with my meal. At this place, your steak comes with 1 side order and if you want a second one, they charge you for it. I had ordered steak fries but when the plate arrived they were regular fries. The waitress told me, "We ran out of steak fries but I brought you these instead." I told her that I wish she would have told me before bringing the plate. She said that they taste the same anyway. She did offer to take them away and bring something else but I was already hungry and decided to eat my meal, though I didn't appreciate the lack of notice. We are limited on decent steak options in McAllen. Longhorn can be hit or miss depending on what server you get. I give it a four star because when they are on point they do a good steak at a fair price. I feel like I can bring my family for a nice dinner without breaking the bank. Most places in the valley overcook the steaks, but longhorn tends to cook it correctly most of the time and when they don't I just send it back. Our 9 year old son wants his steak medium rare and most places here won't do that for kids but longhorn will and the kids steak plate is a good deal at $7.99. Until a better option comes along this will be our go to steak place in town. read more

This is the second time I have dined here, and unfortunately each experience was disappointing. The first time, our steaks were so over seasoned that they were too salty and peppery. My wife's lobster tail was also undercooked. At our recent trip about two weeks ago, I ordered the prime rib and again my wife ordered a lobster tail with her meal. Again, the tail was not cooked enough. But more disappointing was receiving a thin, fatty portion of prime rib that was pan seared. I had ordered a medium well cut which is usually taken near the end cuts from a large roasted prime rib. I have never heard of frying or grilling a piece of prime rib to cook it medium. What a difference a server makes. After not having a good experience the last time my wife and I were here we decided to give it a second chance complements of the house. This time our server was 100 times better she was energetic friendly and funny, Bridget was her name. Our food was good my wife thought her burger was great I thought it was good. Our appetizer finally arrived, the corn fritter appetizer was good but the spicy chilli ranch made them awesome. My wife ordered the Primetime burger that she kept bragging about how good it was and to be honest it was next time I'm ordering it. I have eaten in many of these all across Texas and typically it's fantastic food and fantastic service. I came in at lunch today I don't know if there are not enough servers but service was so slow. I personally think it was because the server spent time talking to large groups and not to me because I was a single.
