    Outlaw Ribeye
    Okari O.

Visited for lunch, shortly after the lunch rush. Tried to get on a waitlist ahead of time, but online I received a message "just come on in, there's no wait". When we got inside the host told us the wait was about 15 minutes. Boo, one big reason why you're not five stars right there. Got seated, and once there I saw that the majority of the restaurant was empty. There were maybe only 7 other tables occupied, so why the wait then? Our server was fantastic. I'm part of their e-club and got a free appetizer. I chose the sweet and spicy boneless chicken. This was SO GOOD - would highly recommend. There was plenty for 3-4 people to share as an app. Ordered the Outlaw ribeye as it's supposed to be a big piece of meat. During lunch the entrees get only one side, at dinner you supposedly get two. I got the mashed potatoes. I got the peach iced tea which I wasn't a big fan of. We were served a loaf of bread to start us off which was very hard to cut and I wish we'd gotten another one given our group size. Mashed potatoes: great. Steak: great, it was cooked as I liked and had a good taste. I told the server it was my birthday and he got me an ice cream on the house. Bonus points for this, this was great!

    Table is absolutely disgusting!

We were seated immediately, it wasn't busy when we arrived. We place our order, we get our appetizer so far so good. Our salads take 20 minutes to be brought out and right after that our steaks arrive. It starts to get busy and we never see our server again. We had to ask the seating lady for our ticket and to- go plates. LH maybe you should set a designated day/time for staff to thoroughly clean tables/lamps/menus. I wonder what the kitchen looks like.

Never had a steak here so I went this weekend with my family. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated. The bread and butter were great then we got our meals and it was delicious. Can't wait to go again. I had Flos Filet with the lobster tail.

Water spots from dish washer. I had to ask for plastic utensils, this makes me not want to touch these.

This is review is based on the Longhorn Steakhouse on North 10th street in McAllen Texas. When my family of 4 arrived, he place was practically empty. I was surprised it was empty despite being a Sunday evening (around 7pm). As we were walked to our table, we walked past two other empty tables were families had left but the mess they had left behind hadn't been cleaned yet. There was also a lot of crumbs and other food chunks on the floor in the surrounding area. The table we were taken to had to be cleaned up before we could sit down. As our orders were taken, I kept looking at the other unclean tables. A family of three was eating at a booth behind us. When they left, their mess was also left relatively untouched for a good while. It took about 20 minutes into our arrival before anyone began to take care of the tables around us. Again, the place didn't look packed there seemed to be more than enough staff to have attended to the matter. Regarding the food, it was delicious, which is why I give it three stars. I ordered a medium rare ribeye, which they knew how to prepare properly. It's hard finding restaurants in the Rio Grande Valley that can prepare a medium rare steak without it being chewy but soft to the bite. My concern with the waitress that night is that I had ordered steak fries with my meal. At this place, your steak comes with 1 side order and if you want a second one, they charge you for it. I had ordered steak fries but when the plate arrived they were regular fries. The waitress told me, "We ran out of steak fries but I brought you these instead." I told her that I wish she would have told me before bringing the plate. She said that they taste the same anyway. She did offer to take them away and bring something else but I was already hungry and decided to eat my meal, though I didn't appreciate the lack of notice. Other than that, she was attentive to all of our other needs.

I should've know better than to order salmon from a steak place. My salmon was raw inside. No, I do not recommend this place.

For dinner, I had a steak and they brought a variety of sides for the whole table, which was perfect to try other things. The steak was delicious and I didn't hear a single person complain about their meal. The Wagyu is fantastic as always and well worth the price. For dessert, we had probably 4-5 different options and they were all incredible. The raspberry cake was probably my favorite with the cheesecake a close second. Overall, I'm surprised by the poor reviews because we had a great time. The restaurant is modern and high end with a great menu and friendly staff.

Even though it said cheeseburger special, bacon cheese special would have been more correct. Burger came with lots of cheese. American, fontina and blue cheese crumbles. It had thick cut crispy bacon. Spicy Mayo and grilled onions. The burger was amazing!! On par with the quality of the Antler Burger. It was seasoned perfectly. The patty was juicy, crispy on the edges and well seasoned. The cheese was melty and oozed out of the burger creating your own cheese fries. The fries by the way were significantly improved over the bland ones I had previously. This time they were seasoned with a few spices and given and extra coating to make them super crispy. Much better. Again, I can't reiterate how good the burgers at Sendero are. The other items on the menu sound so good and I would love to try them but when a burger is this good. You get the burger.

The atmosphere was upscale, cozy, and inviting--exactly what you'd expect from a high-end steakhouse. I started with a dirty martini, which was actually quite good, though I was surprised they didn't have Kettle One or Chopin vodka available, and they didn't offer blue cheese olives. Not a deal breaker, but a bit unexpected given the overall ambiance. For an appetizer, I ordered the tuna tartare. Unfortunately, it had a noticeably fishy taste, to the point that I stopped eating after just a couple of bites. Hoping the main course would redeem things, I went with the surf and turf. Visually, the plate looked decent, but that's where the positives ended. The steak was tough and rubbery--difficult to even cut, let alone chew--and the lobster tail was overcooked and dry. Both were inedible after a single bite. The manager did come over and apologize, offering us a complimentary crème brûlée to make up for it. Sadly, that too was a letdown: undercooked, runny, and lacking the crisp top you'd expect from a proper crème brûlée. When the manager returned, he admitted he had tried to cut into my steak himself and couldn't get through it either--so it wasn't just me. At that point, I was ready to chalk it up to an off night and consider giving them another shot sometime. But then the bill came--it ended up being a little over $180 including a decent tip--and to my surprise, the inedible main course hadn't been comped. That was the final disappointment. If the manager himself couldn't cut the steak and acknowledged the issue, how do you not remove it from the bill? I genuinely wanted to like this place. The setting is promising, but they clearly need a more consistent kitchen and a management team that understands how to make things right when they go wrong. For now, I can't recommend it--and I won't be back unless some serious changes are made. Rating: 1/5

And we'll be back again, I'm sure, but tonight was not a good night. Would rate tonight two stars based on value for price, but bumping up a star based on past experiences. We arrived, with reservations, to a half-empty restaurant. We (my wife and I) were first seated in a tight spot between a very large party and a wall, with a narrow aisle for the server to pass through separating us. After being seated, we realized this spot was not for us and asked to be reseated. Good thing, too, since moments later a player arrived to play corny Christmas tunes at a piano *immediately * adjacent (less than 3 feet away) to our original table. Nobody had asked us if we minded giving up our night's conversation in favor of the piano. I'm sure some folks would've loved it, but you need to ask before sitting people that close to the music. Anyway, glad we moved. If all else had gone well, I wouldn't be bothering with this review. But. The timing was terrible: we ordered cocktails before dinner. When they arrived, our waiter took our order - and within two minutes appeared with our soup and salad. My cream of cauliflower soup was great, but did not mix with my drink. What ever happened to enjoying a drink *before* dinner? My subsequent caesar salad was as good as any I've had, but when dinner arrived my wife's steak and baked potato were barely above room temperature. She also mentioned that her filet was incredibly dry. My New York strip was tasty, though. Oh, but the wine: we each ordered glasses of red, but both were *ice* cold. Like really really cold. So we slogged through the meal, but as you might imagine we were ready pretty soon to write it off as an off night and move on. So we placed our utensils on our plates, pushed our plates a tiny bit away, and sat back a bit so the server could see we were finished. Which he might have, if on any of the six subsequent times that he passed near our table he had bothered to even glance at us. Finally, we had to get another server to request that our server bring our check. So he finally shows up asking what we need, not bringing the check as we requested of his colleague. I again asked for the check mentioned to him that as a server it is useful to look around at your tables whenever you pass through the room. He did not apologize. Look, this is usually a great place. I'm sure we'll be back on some future visit to McAllen. Tonight, though, not so much. I hope the management is paying attention to this and that this was truly just a rare off-night and not a sign of declining service. At this price, you need to do better.
