The bagels here are honestly not bad some days they're really good, other days it's like... what happened? Real inconsistent. Service is the same. Sometimes I'm treated super nice, other times it's like they're annoyed I even showed up at 1pm. Like, my bad for wanting a bagel? The space is tiny, barely any seating, so don't plan on hanging out too long. This place has the best bagels. Truly they deserve to be on some Top 100 lists in the nation. The outside has that perfect crunchiness while the inside is soft and chewy. Their flavors are amazing and the cream cheese is outstanding. Their monthly specials always hit the spot. We've tried multiple sandwiches here as well. I can see why there might be a line by 7am on Sunday. This place is bringing NY quality bagels to North Tucson. Try the pumpernickel bagel with schmear (onion and chive is great accompaniment). Bubbes Bubbes Bubbes, where do I start. I love the simple yet detailed interior. The black board menu is huge and makes it really easy to see what's in store. In terms of their technology, it was next level with the touch screen when they ask for a signature. It truly feels like such a comforting place to get a great bagel. Onto said bagel, it was extremely soft and pillowy on the inside with a slightly crunchy exterior. In my opinion, the best bagel I've ever had. If you are dairy free or vegan, they have the best vegan cream cheese! The fact that there are bagels/cream cheeses of the month is just the cherry on top. Such a fun way to introduce creativity and expand the palate. The workers are always so patient, polite, and nice. It's always a great experience and I highly recommend Bubbes every day of the week. Great bagels at fair prices. Their sandwiches built on their bagels, especially the Reuben, are fantastic. The ambiance is fine and their staff is friendly and helpful. This place gets 5 starts for their food, specifically their open faced lox sandwich! I've had many lox bagels in my day and Bubbe's might have been my favorite! The salmon was creamy, there was a perfect amount of cream cheese and fresh tomato, onions, and capers. I had mine on the spicy everything bagel. I also ordered an iced coffee which was very good and we took a dozen bagels to go. I unfortunately have to remove two stars because we ordered two lox sandwiches and only one came with all of the toppings so my husband and I had to divide the toppings between the two of us. read more

Do better, Bubbe's! I'm a former New Yorker and you know what that means! I was so excited to learn that Bubbe's sells bialys on the weekends. What's a bialy, you might ask? It's like a bagel that has not been boiled before baking, so it's denser and chewier than a bagel, and it is (supposed to be) filled with caramelized onions and poppy seeds. I called in an order of a half dozen, I have purchased them before and been pleased... but this time (3/2/25) I was so disappointed to see barely any onions and just a scant smattering of poppyseeds. Of course, I did not discover this abomination until I was back home and did not want to drive all the way back and deal with the line of hungry Sunday bagel noshers, so I'll eat my sad little onionless bialys and cry while I read the New York Times. Truthfully, these are the best bagels I've had anywhere in Arizona! But Bubbe's doesn't seem to be a secret--it's so crowded by 10am on a Saturday it feels like you have to muscle your way in. I see why. In the same room as the counter you'll spy a literal bakery. They are making them while you're eating them. It's beautiful. There are several bar stools for eating inside, but it's really just everyone huddled around waiting for their orders. It's packed, but there's seating outside. You must persevere because it's only a few minutes to get your order. After much consideration, I went with a bagel sandwich. Ham and cheese on onion. I don't think this place is necessarily kosher, but there are some traditional options like an open-faced lox with capers, or whitefish, or any combination of savory and sweet bagels and schmears. Whatever you select, splurge on a fresh-squeezed orange juice too. Every bite out of my bagel was more flavorful than I expected. This bagel was coated with crispy, roasted onions on the outside but still soft on the inside. It was perfect for a sandwich and I could enjoy quite a few unique brunches from this spot. I'll be back for some of the sweeter varieties, and of course the lox in my future visits. But I can't wait until then to give Bubbe's my full endorsement. This is the real deal! read more

It's always nice to find a good bagel spot! This being right around where I lived I wanted to give it a try. So far I've had a few different bagels from here with the egg salad being my favorite. Personally I do think the bagels are a touch more expensive than I'd find ideal but I'm not docking anything from it because the quality is good and i always got good service there. Really delicious bagels. They are light and fluffy. I ordered a plain bagel with plain cream cheese. They load the cream cheese on it. I don't like my bagels this way. Next time I'll order cream cheese on the side or I'll get it on my bagel and scrape off half and put it on a second bagel for whoever I'm with. You can't taste how good the bagels are with that much cream cheese! I wish it could be less expensive for less cream cheese. The cream cheese had a nice flavor and texture. When heading to my grandson's, I decided to stop for bagels after reading reviews. I've eaten bagels for years including those from NYC back before you had to have them sent to you. Since then I've had quite a few. Anyway, I got the cinammon for grandson and pumpernickel and poppy seed plus 8 oz of cream cheese. The cinnamon one is sticky and sugary. The poppyseed was covered with poppy seeds (a bit too much for me). Grandson wasn't crazy about the cinnamon one but it was ok. I found my poppyseed one to be a bit hard to chew and was definitely better warmed. Cream cheese was creamy and nice. I may try them again but not in a rush. read more

I've been wanting to try Bubbe's and finally did. This is a little bagel shop in the foothills and had small friendly business vibe. I went today to snag a garlic bagel with pickle cream cheese for their last day for this flavor of the month. Their bagel had a crisp outside and soft inside and the flavor was great! Now let's talk about that pickle cream cheese. They had little crispy pieces of pickle in the cream cheese. If you're a pickle fan, it was amazing! We greatly enjoyed it. Fantastic bagels! I don't eat bagels very often, but my mom really wanted one, so we headed to Bubbe's in Joesler Village. Toasted plain bagels with ample honey lavender schmear for the WIN! Bubbe's makes REAL bagels...with that chewy outside and soft middle. The schmear is the real deal too...a good, thick layer. Why 4 stars? The interior is not an efficient design. When I arrived, no one was at the "order here" station. Someone finally arrived at the cash register and took my order, but typed my name in incorrectly. The staff had to say what the order was when no one jumped up to pick the order up. Not too big of a deal. The second time I went in, the line was to the door. After it didn't move for 5 minutes, I ended up going somewhere else. Hopefully, they work these kinks out. read more

I am THRILLED that Bubbe's has a more central location! As a born New Yorker, I am a huge bagel snob, and let me tell you -- these are the best in Tucson. They're tangy, chewy, and absolutely lovely with cream cheese. My favorite combination is an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese. The bagel I got from Bubbe's this morning knocked it out of the park! It was warm when I got it (I arrived literally moments after opening), so the cream cheese was soft and melting into the bagel. The menu is on the small side in regard to sandwiches, but honestly, I think that's just fine. They have the basics, and they're doing the basics beautifully, so why crowd the board? I also laud the staff for their efficiency. There was a significant line this morning, but they moved through it surprisingly quickly! I've tried Bubbe's bagel sticks at Transit Tea a handful of times (love them) and finally made it over to an actual Bubbe's this morning. I got there around 10 a.m. and was worried they may be out of some things, but they had every type of bagel and cream cheese still available. I got an everything bagel with chive and green onion cream cheese and a plain bagel/plain cream cheese for my husband. Both were very tasty- the bagels bad nice flavor and texture- but there was a ton of cream cheese. Not a big enough issue to merit losing a star, but now I know to ask for light cream cheese next time. This is a cute spot, but there are only a few seats at the counter (I saw four chairs) so don't be surprised if you have to take your food to-go. Service was fast and friendly.
