    The Original Italian Hoagie
    Jennifer S.

I've driven by Hoagie House for years, and I also meant to stop. Running errands one Saturday, I decided to finally go. I ordered ahead on the establishment's website - super easy - and I was also able to choose to pay in person. I arrived, and my order was ready for me - yay! I took it home, and both sandwiches that I ordered were perfect! I'm so used to getting something to go, and the order is wrong. Not at Hoagie House!! Because they kept my husband's meatball sandwich in the microwave oven (not on, silly), it was still hot by the time I got home (another yay!). The meatballs were flavorful and juicy, and the provolone was melted, all topped with ample marinara and the other toppings I specified. My sandwich was perfect and messy (come on, that's a sign of a good hoagie). Lots of toppings, and the seasoning and oil and vinegar were a great accompaniment. These hoagies are great - delicious bread, fresh ingredients, and perfectly made. My mouth is watering as I'm writing this. So, stop driving by, and go on in - it's worth the trip!

Great place, went here with my wife and she and I both loved it. Good prices as well. They took their time to make it right the first time and it showed!

The bread really sets this place apart. Not sure it's baked in house but it's definitely baked fresh daily. Lots of cold and hot sandwich options and they're all filled with meat and cheese. You can order online ahead of time for pick up (#TakeOutChallenge!). Hogie House is a good alternative to national chains like Jimmy John's and Jersey Mike's. Support home-growth Tucson businesses!

This is a classic Tucson restaurant. I love hoagie house. For me it's the pepperocinis and oil they use that makes their sandwiches so good.

However, I have to give 3 stars for the overall execution of my meal. I had a half of a Hammer sandwich which was about $8. It's ham, soppressata, cheese, lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, dijon, vinegar, oil, garlic sauce. Unfortunately, I felt that my sandwich came with skimpy toppings. I got a pretty thinly stacked layer of ham and 2 little ovals of soppressata. The cheese was barely present. I also would have loved more tomato. I got a good amount of lettuce and banana peppers, though! Unfortunately, I just couldn't taste the meat and cheese toppings super well due to their being not much of them on the sandwich. The flavor of all the other ingredients were good, though. My friend got the Scramwich on Foccacia for $14. Looking at it, I could also tell it had not much proscuitto. Upon further inspection opening one of the halves of the sandwich... it was definitely only a few little smaller pieces of proscuitto. (The other toppings were on the other piece of bread, don't worry, those were fine) Sorry for the ugly photo - hard to really capture it without dissecting the thing. I also just noticed while looking at the photo again that one of the pieces of arugula also had black spots on it... Definitely not very fresh. My friend still enjoyed the foccacia, sundried tomatoes, and other toppings, but also felt there wasn't enough proscuitto. For the price, I would hope for a sufficient amount of meat. Heard a lot of hype about Quisty's and I see great potential in their quality and concepts! With better execution I'd definitely consider coming back. It's just hard to justify paying as much as we did for sandwiches that were skimpy on arguably one of the most important toppings!

The sirloin was fresh, tender, and full of flavor, and the combination of grilled onions, hot cherry peppers, sweet peppers, tomatoes, pickles, and white American cheese was perfectly balanced. It is single-handedly the best bread and sandwich I've had anywhere and I get it every time I visit Tucson now that I've moved. The bread is so good that buy a large loaf and take it home with me to make sandwiches with. The people who work here are super sweet and friendly. They work quickly even when they're completely packed. I've never once had a problem with my order being incorrect or how I've been treated there. It has only ever been a positive experience. The restaurant itself is lovely. There is a good amount of seating but sometimes you do have to troll for a seat when it's really busy. The space is clean and easy to move around. The bathrooms are also clean and are kept well-stocked. The parking in the shopping center is difficult but that's because both Beyond Bread and Bookmans share the parking lot so there are just a lot of people there in general.
