Village Bakehouse is always a win for me. I've purchased pastries to go, dined in for breakfast, enjoyed their coffee drinks and purchased two custom smash cakes from them. The custom ordering process was easy and the price was very reasonable. One thing to keep in mind with Village Bakehouse is that they have limited indoor seating and are often crowded. They do have covered outdoor seating with fans but you are looking at a parking lot so not super picturesque. read more

This is one of my to go places for cake in Tucson. 6/5! They do amazing cakes - customized or they always have choices for a pick up. Between having ordered a customized cake to picking up cakes from their display cases... I don't have a favorite... each one has been unique and delicious in their own (ps- their icing is amazing). For the quality of their cakes, their prices are totally reasonable. They have additional bakery items ( cookies, pastries etc) that I have tried and I would rate those a 4/5. Good and comparable to some additional amazing bakers in Tucson. I have also dined here for brunch and I would rate it a 3/5. I was here on March 24th at 2:30 and very disappointed by my experience. I have had this place on my list for ages, and was so excited to bring my aunt with me to try it out. When we arrived, we were the only ones ordering, and took some time to peruse the display. I saw something I wanted and let the person helping us know that I was going to take that item but was still looking at others. They put it away to the side for me. Soon after my aunt did the same thing. We both ended up getting a few things from the case, and when it was time to check out, they had put all of our baked goods into one box. We casually let them know that we were actually going to be paying separate and needed different boxes, and the response was so rude.. argumentative even I would say, and for no reason since we were not upset. He went into this spill about how he didn't know we were separate because we were both saying things we wanted. (It really felt like.we're telling you now so what's the big deal? Also just as good customer service, why not have asked? ) we just sat there really like ".. okay well we are separate.." He went and got a box tossing it towards us to split ourselves and dramatically pushed each button he needed to delete four of the items before ringing me up with a very dry and stoic demeanor. He did the same for my aunt. We both ignored it, but were very taken back. I was going to ask to speak to someone but chose to let it go and choose peace lol. We ended up ordering and finishing our meal, and really liking the pastries (and my sweet hot ham sandwich), but with that kind of customer service we will not be back. read more

The place has bakery vibes, with several cases full of delicious looking pastries. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the pecan roll and brown sugar crunch roll were delightful. I first learned about village big house after an employee at another store told us that they had the best cinnamon rolls in town. I immediately made it my mission to get cinnamon rolls and they are delicious. However, they have pies cupcakes, cookies, muffins, and many other delicious bake goods. My mom knows that if I need to a little pick me up that if we go there, I'm gonna leave filled with joy. Today we had lunch after our doctors appointment and as a special treat, she told me I could pick any dessert I wanted. I left with a pink champagne cupcake. I just know the rest of my day is gonna be awesome because of that cupcake. They have inside and outside seating but seating is very limited inside. they make a wide variety of drinks, including fruit smoothies. They sell tea, coffee, lattes, Italian soda and other beverages that are very appealing. I've been a loyal customer for 10 years or more and I feel like the best pies in town come from here. Sometimes there could be a line out the door because it is a modest space inside. The owner, her spouse and other family members provide excellent service. Much of the fear that they offer for meals is omelettes croissant sandwiches French toast today for the first time for lunch, I got a burger. Usually at lunch I get a salad or a turkey and bacon sandwich on fancy bread. Just be aware that it's a bakery so meals are gonna be bread focused but they're usually very delicious. This was a spot recommended to us by a friend. We decided to try out breakfast. I had the breakfast burrito - it was spicy with no other flavor... I was quite disappointed. The pancakes and French toast were good. The highlight here was definitely the "bakery" side - we tried the eclair, sprinkle doodle cookie, magic bar, cake pops, and funfetti sprinkle cupcake. The cookie was a bit dry but everything else from the bakery was great! The only places to really sit are outside and in the Tucson heat, that isn't always fun. The service was ok - nothing especially noteworthy in the way of service, but nothing bad. We will visit again for the baked goods but will pass on having breakfast there next time. read more

While my car was being serviced nearby, I dropped in here for a post-breakfast dessert. I had a 4" fruit tart ($5.15) and a medium-sized hot chai ($4.35). Both were good. However, both items rang up at a different price than the one posted. They need to do a better job of synching up the cash register with the prices posted in-store, online, and on the menus. My fiance and I were pretty disappointed with Village Bakehouse. I am surprised based on the high reviews they have. We ordered a Coconut Cream pie for Thanksgiving pickup. It cost $30 for a 10" deep dish pie. We decided to get it since we thought it should be good for that price! We were very disappointed however. The pickup process was fine but the box they provided was completely ridiculous. A flimsy little cardboard box for a heavy pie. Using it for transport was not going to work so we had a buy a cake carrier from Walmart. When we finally got to try the pie it was a major let down. The filling was very bland with almost no coconut flavor. The cream on top was split and not very good. The crust was soggy and almost non-existent. Overall for the crazy prices they charge and the disappointment as a result we most likely will not be back. read more

Update: I feel like this year has been the year I've really taken to Village Bakehouse for special Occasions. My most recent order what for my daughters first birthday. I ordered a custom birthday cake and cookies and they were both perfect! I met with a manager to discuss my vision and followed up with some inspiration photos and everything turned out great. The cake was vanilla with lemon buttercream. It wasn't too sweet. And the sugar cookies were divine. They were more like a shortbread and not too sweet either which is exactly what I hoped for. Had a delicious brunch with friends here today! At 1045 on a Saturday we were able to get a table on the patio and even though the line went outside it went fast. Lots of pastries to choose from and the staff were on top of it despite how busy it was. I got the grilled turkey Brie sandwich and a chai tea latte. Both were delicious and I loved that the sandwich was on a garlic bread. What great find! Village Bakehouse is a tiny bakery that does many things -- and quite well! They offer coffee and in-house baked pastries, but also have a full breakfast menu with pancakes, stuffed French toast, and breakfast burritos/quesadillas. I saw a massive lunch menu too, but we came for breakfast. We ate inside and there was a constant influx of customers, including many regulars who had their "usuals" prepared upon entering. An excellent sign! The glass display has everything from cinnamon rolls and chocolate croissants to cake pops and hamentashen. Moreover, they offer a variety of breads and freshly baked pies. I had the breakfast quesadilla and it was excellent. It's two eggs, green chiles, cheese, and a generous serving of ham. The tortilla was perfectly crispy and the tomatillo salsa was fantastic. My wife had avocado toast and the toast was perfectly charred. Mmm. Our kids shared chocolate chip pancakes and they approved. We took and apple pie to go. It was delicious -- among the best I've had in recent memory. This place has many awards and deservedly so. Definitely bookmark this place if you're in the area. read more
