    Rainbow bar!

Been searching for a from scratch bakery on the Northside and I've found it. A handful of indoor tables, gorgeous pastry case, pies (personal and full size) and every single thing I've tried has been scrumptious and fresh. Outdoor seating and pre-orders on pies available. Friendly, fair priced. They have good cookies, too! Located in the same strip.mall as Trader Joe's, down to the right of TJ's entrance.

Excellent simple food. The pastries are delicious. The line moves along quick because of how efficient there workers are. Very limited seating inside but the place to be is on the patio.

I was here on March 24th at 2:30 and very disappointed by my experience. I have had this place on my list for ages, and was so excited to bring my aunt with me to try it out. When we arrived, we were the only ones ordering, and took some time to peruse the display. I saw something I wanted and let the person helping us know that I was going to take that item but was still looking at others. They put it away to the side for me. Soon after my aunt did the same thing. We both ended up getting a few things from the case, and when it was time to check out, they had put all of our baked goods into one box. We casually let them know that we were actually going to be paying separate and needed different boxes, and the response was so rude.. argumentative even I would say, and for no reason since we were not upset. He went into this spill about how he didn't know we were separate because we were both saying things we wanted. (It really felt like.we're telling you now so what's the big deal? Also just as good customer service, why not have asked? ) we just sat there really like ".. okay well we are separate.." He went and got a box tossing it towards us to split ourselves and dramatically pushed each button he needed to delete four of the items before ringing me up with a very dry and stoic demeanor. He did the same for my aunt. We both ignored it, but were very taken back. I was going to ask to speak to someone but chose to let it go and choose peace lol. We ended up ordering and finishing our meal, and really liking the pastries (and my sweet hot ham sandwich), but with that kind of customer service we will not be back.

The place has bakery vibes, with several cases full of delicious looking pastries. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the pecan roll and brown sugar crunch roll were delightful. I got the breakfast enchiladas, which were amazing. The enchilada sauce tasted homemade and was rich and balanced. The filling was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I ate every last bite and considered licking the plate.

Village bakehouse is a family run, bakery and restaurant that's open for breakfast and lunch. I first learned about village big house after an employee at another store told us that they had the best cinnamon rolls in town. I immediately made it my mission to get cinnamon rolls and they are delicious. However, they have pies cupcakes, cookies, muffins, and many other delicious bake goods. My mom knows that if I need to a little pick me up that if we go there, I'm gonna leave filled with joy. Today we had lunch after our doctors appointment and as a special treat, she told me I could pick any dessert I wanted. I left with a pink champagne cupcake. I just know the rest of my day is gonna be awesome because of that cupcake. They have inside and outside seating but seating is very limited inside. they make a wide variety of drinks, including fruit smoothies. They sell tea, coffee, lattes, Italian soda and other beverages that are very appealing. I've been a loyal customer for 10 years or more and I feel like the best pies in town come from here. Sometimes there could be a line out the door because it is a modest space inside. The owner, her spouse and other family members provide excellent service. Much of the fear that they offer for meals is omelettes croissant sandwiches French toast today for the first time for lunch, I got a burger. Usually at lunch I get a salad or a turkey and bacon sandwich on fancy bread. Just be aware that it's a bakery so meals are gonna be bread focused but they're usually very delicious. Highly recommend

Almond Horn with a fruit cup
    Kris L.

Wow, so many bakery goodies and the place was packed in the morning. They have a few gluten free options: cookies, macaron type offerings and an almond horn - which I tried, this is a eggs white type pastry with almond paste, coated with almonds and dipped in chocolate- very moist on the inside and crunchy outside, excellent. I also had a cup of fresh fruit. Give them a try if you are on the north side of town

They have every kind of pastry you could ever want. Lattes made by Rachel are always good. Ever been in an urgent situation? Now imagine the opposite of that, every employee (besides the long-haired gentleman in the back) thinks the world is just full of sunshine and rainbows. The bear claw was super fresh & delicious. The barista Rachel is very friendly and moves with great urgency.

Lavender vanilla cake; vanilla frosting and lemon filling. Decorations were perfect! Sugar cookies with buttercream icing.

Ordered a cake and cookies for baby shower. Came out perfect. Delicious . Very pleases

Coconut cream pie. They had it smushed in between other pies when we picked it up. Not very nice...

Ask the Community - Village Bakehouse

Do they offer any gluten-free pastries, cakes or breads?

Other than oatmeal made without milk, are there other vegan options?

Dry bread (or w/ jam), fresh fruit, roast potatoes, black coffee & tea, salad w/o cheese, smoothies (done w/o dairy), avocado available, roast veggies w/o cheese....but alas they're *very* heavy on dairy (and gluten)...could be called the CHEESE…

I also love that the menu strives to be locally sourced. The food is very fresh! The service from the counter is fairly fast, which was especially great for us, as we were short on time. This time ordered the Simply Eggy Breakfast. The marmalade was unique and the eggs were perfectly poached. The portions are standard, so there will likely be no leftovers. For the portions though, I would say the price is a little on the higher end. To finish my friend got a tahini brownie on the way out and we found it to be very pleasant and not overly sweet. I would love to try their coffees and teas!

The line was the usual long line and with my dog, was much better as people talk and pet dogs in line and it went fairly fast. The line was in shade with the nearby tree so it made it that much better. The ambiance is the misters around that are welcomed by all, the pretty tree and greenery and fencing and signage they have used to decorate this small outdoor place so well. The shaded and covered tables outside had various chairs and enough space for people to rotate in and out- esp with our dogs that love the cool brick to lie on:) Now, the absolute best part is the food- still amazingly worth waiting for and delicious!! I got the burrito( basic has potato, egg, beans , cheese) and the protein I added was bacon and extra was guac. Also got the 16oz Dirty Chai. My friend came for first time and was surprised to open her order and find two burritos- I knew and wanted to see her face- she loved the taste and the fact she had lunch or dinner later as one truly is so full of deliciousness- it fills you up! We each had one we took home ! This place- just a treat for anyone wanting fantastic and pure local service and food! Highly recommend!!!

(well once in taste, but I'll get to that) They have great in-house made items. Like the Challa bread, the preserves, their pesto. They most certainly know what they're doing. I had unseasoned filet mignon once, I believe it was the omelette. I talked to the manager. Now I wasnt upset, didn't send it back, I just told them what I experienced and mused that I found it odd the cook forgot a simple thing like salt. The manager acknowledged my complaint and that was all; or at least I was fine. Nope, she came back with a to-go box of croissants topped with cream and berries as an apology.
