This is a new pastry and boba shop in Eastlake tucked in the strip mall near Trader Joe's. We came here after our dinner and were excited to try this place out! I got the Iced matcha strawberry. Love the layering in this drink but the matcha wasn't very prominent. The strawberry puree overpowered the drink so it was hard to taste the matcha :(. I took a sip of the Iced Dirty Brown Sugar Milk tea and this was amazing! We tried the Pistachio Horn Danish. This was just okay. The multiple layers make it hard to chew. The Strawberry Cream Tart was really good! The shell was light and flaky and the cream was smooth and flavorful. I would definitely order this again. Since it was dinner time, there wasn't much pastry selection available. I'll have to come back! This place is self service and they work on your order as soon as it's placed.

This place is in their soft opening and is tucked away in a busy shopping center. It's a cute shop ran by young employees. We got the mango blossom matcha and honeydew coconut bliss with brown sugar boba. We also got the tiramisu custard tart. They took the time to whisked up the matcha which is good. Both drinks were ok. The matcha was not as strong as I'd like and was more on the milky side. The mango actually overpowered the matcha. The tiramisu tart was the best! It was crunchy on the bottom and creamy all around. This really stood out.

This is my second time coming here during their soft opening phase. Gilbert was here both times, and he was very welcoming and friendly and genuinely happy to help. He is the reason I immediately tried the egg tart as soon as I walked in the first day! Anika and Natalie made my order and did a great job! I got the strawberry peach tea, and I really enjoyed it! It was a good mix of flavor and was very refreshing. Exactly what I needed after a long day at work. I'm excited to continue to try more drinks, especially when they officially open!

A new place that puts a smile on my face. We came to eat the Luscious Dumplings and saw this place was having its soft opening, and out of the gate, my kids and I were super excited to try the pastries and I was excited to try the tea. Sofi helped us and she was super sweet and helpful. She answered my questions about what some of the menu items were and she made some recommendations. I wanted to try something with cheezo and her recommendation did not disappoint. I got a matcha with oat milk, strawberry, and cheezo on top (half sweetness) and it was one of the most delicious things I've ever tried. We also got the tiramisu and another pastry. Super rich and good. This will be my new dessert place and tea place 100%. I will now have my new routine: eat at the dumpling place, enjoy deliciousness at Bubble and Butter!

So happy that Eastlake has a place that carries egg tarts. We ordered the butter caramel and tiramisu tarts and the strawberry matcha drink. The tarts were a good size compared to other egg tarts from other places. We preferred the butter caramel flavor. The egg tarts were sitting in the display case so it's kind of cold when eating it. The matcha drink was fine according to my daughter. Customer service was nice. The ambience of the place looked like a soft opening as the worker said not everything on the menu was available and only saw a pistachio pastry on display. Also wanted to give a shout out to the workers, Gilbert and Elisha in exchange for the cute Bubble and Butter tote bags. Nevertheless, it's good to have good dessert places in Eastlake and glad we have the addition of B&B.

Strawberry matcha latte and what was supposed to be a mango matcha but please tell me where was my matcha?

I do understand that this business is new and they're in their soft opening, but I just don't have anything good to say so I hope if they see this review they can learn from it. We went on a Friday afternoon and surprisingly the lot wasn't too busy. It's located in the same lot as Trader Joe's and those who know, understand that this lot is terrible, but luckily we didn't struggle to find parking. That might be the only good thing I have to say. The place is located in the Old Donut Bar spot. There's no indoor seating but you can use the shared outdoor tables with all the other businesses. The place wasn't extraordinary. It was a simple walk up counter. I wasn't thoroughly impressed with service. The cashier was nice but just doing her job nice, but definitely can tell she was still learning. What I didn't enjoy was how they handled getting my drink wrong. I ordered a mango matcha latte and when it came out I was throughly confused for two reasons. My drink had less amount then my friends matcha,, and two why was her matcha green and mine wasn't? I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt and was like okay maybe there's a special cream or something, but when I tried it I tasted zero matcha, just straight milk. I had my friend try it just to see and she agreed and said no matcha in there. So I went back inside and let the staff know about they forgot the matcha and they all just looked at me dumbfounded. I was just as dumbfounded how a drink place can forget matcha, like the big label on my cup said MATCHA, clearly my drink wasn't green. Eventually the staff was like "Okay we'll make you a new one." And at first I was like cool. But then as I watched, it was not new. Also wasn't impressed with the management/coach who was there either. He did not help them, nor apologize to me. The more I reflect on it, the more I should have asked for my money back. I also grew concerned with how sanitary they are. My straw was in there. They didn't make me a new drink because I see them pouring their premade matcha into the same cup. And let alone my USED straw is going into their SHARED bottle of PREMADE matcha. I threw my straw away immediately. I also ordered a pastry, and they were dumbfounded when I asked for it. The cashier at the time was like "Oh you ordered a pastry?" And I said yes. But I really wanted to say "I didn't pay $14 for you guys to forget my matcha, be pretty unsanitary when you're supposedly making me a new matcha when I can clearly see that you're not and then my pastry that in all honesty doesn't look fresh like you guys say?" Very unimpressed. Then to the actually taste. Both my friend and I agreed, matcha extremely grainy. And it continued to separate as time passed and even after we mixed it??? Also it was not a good green color. It was really light. Also, it just did not taste good at all. We both said the thing saving it was probably just the puree at the bottom and for her the cheese foam. But we both agreed we probably won't ever get this matcha again. It's honestly on the bottom of my list and I get matcha a lot. I can't speak for their boba but I saw a video where they said they thought their boba was too sweet. I had to force myself to drink it all to convince my money wasn't wasted but in the end I didn't and I threw it away. And the pastry, I really did not enjoy it, while it was better than the drink it wasn't anything special. We got the matcha horn danish and I didn't taste matcha. The chocolate filling wasn't anything great. My dad literally said "I'll eat it all so that way your money isn't wasted." Like I said, I understand that this spot is EXTREMELY new. I hope that this spot can learn from this and the other negative reviews I see and hear. Because I don't see myself coming back. This is a hard spot to maintain and I've lived here my whole life and see businesses come and go here. I hope for improvement but I don't wanna waste my money on it.

We LOVE Jalen and Jeremy! You guys are the best! You made the experience even better! We enjoyed the Egg Tart ( nice texture and so creamy!) and Chocolate Matcha Horn (loved the fact that it was crispy when I took a bite and flavorful)! Pleasantly surprised with the overall quality of these two desserts! We had gotten the Mango Coconut Bliss, Iced Mango Sago Pomelo, and the Dirty Brown Sugar Boba Milk ( 60%sweet). Enjoyed every drink I appreciate the minimalist design of your Boba Café! Bright and airy!

I stopped by during their soft opening, and I was impressed! The customer service was great, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. I tried the Brown Boba Tea, and it was perfect--smooth, fresh, and just the right sweetness. The Mango Coconut Bliss was also delicious with a really refreshing flavor. Even though it was only their soft opening, they already had a great variety of drinks to choose from. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more of their menu. Highly recommend! My wife and I stumbled upon their soft opening today, and everything we tried was excellent. I had the Strawberry Cream Horn Danish, which was light, flaky, and filled with just the right amount of sweetness. My wife ordered the Butter Caramel Tart, and it was rich, buttery, and beautifully balanced without being overly heavy. The pastries reminded us of the ones we enjoyed in Japan; delicate, flavorful, and not too sweet. We also tried the Brown Sugar Dirty Boba Milk Tea, which was creamy, smooth, and full of brown sugar flavor. Definitely worth checking out during their soft opening. We're already looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu. read more

ordered from here about 3 weeks ago but the drinks were not good and made my mom and I extremely nauseous. The strawberry matcha had this very chemical taste, I figured it was just a strong matcha but once I finished it I became nauseous and had to purchase a bag in the area because I thought I was gonna get sick, my mom had the same experience but did not finish hers. I'm not sure what part of it made us sick but it turned me off from matcha for a while. The service was very friendly and kind which is why I'm giving this place at least 2 stars. I don't know if it's just our experience because I don't see similar reviews that link getting sick to the drinks but just a warning for anyone going. read more

I was craving a boba tea and wanted to try this new spot out. I really like their drink menu and it was so hard to choose one (so obviously I'll be going back to try more). I ordered the oolong tea with boba and it was so good! The tea was brewed well unlike other places that has only a faint tea flavor and the boba was chewy and soft. Shoutout to the staff (Ava and Alicia) who were so kind and helpful. Glad this place is super close to me. read more

We visited Bubble & Butter for the first time Everything was so good that I ended up ordering two drinks! The shop is clean, beautifully decorated, and has a great selection of drinks and pastries. But what really made our visit special was the amazing staff! Natalie and Jaylen were so welcoming, friendly, and genuinely fun to interact with. Stopped in here today with my cousin and ordered 3 delicious caramel egg tarts and an iced mango pomelo slushy with sago. Everything was delicious and we will definitely be going back. Decided to try this place as I saw their soft opening announcement on instagram. I'm dissapointed to say that their drinks were subpar at most. I had the jasmine bouquet tea, less sweet with boba. The jasmine flavor was good but could be stronger and their boba was cooked perfectly but didn't have much brown sugar flavor. My girlfriend had the mango matcha and she was really disappointed. The mango puree was good but the matcha was weak and way too milky. Her mom had the regular matcha latte w cheezo foam and it also just tasted like milk. Their service was great and their staff was nice, but it couldn't make up for the mediocre drinks. It was cute inside as well, however I'm not sure I'll be back..maybe when they have their grand opening. read more

My partners and I have gone here a few times for the past couple weeks since they've opened, trying a variety of drinks and baked goods from their menu. We've been helped by Sophia each time who has been super sweet and helpful! Our overall thoughts remain very positive! Today we got the mango coconut Bliss and the honeydew Cheezo Tea, and the strawberry matcha latte. The mango tastes very fresh, not artificial, we got it at 80% which we felt was just right. Same sentiments with the honeydew Cheezo Tea. The strawberry matcha latte has potential, I think it could be improved with either a higher quality matcha or perhaps just more matcha in the drink. If I'm being honest it tasted almost like strawberry milk which was a little disappointing as a matcha lover :( Our fave drink has to be the mango sago pomelo, it's a great balance of textures and flavors! We also thought the egg tart was a delicious treat as well, a great dessert after a meal! I'd definitely come back and think their boba is their strengths here. There's alot of potential for more seasonal drinks or other flavors that'd I'd love to try! read more

The staff were rude when asked about the drinks. They just pointed to the machines to order and didnt greet us upon entering. I asked a question about a drink and the girl just gave a nasty look. She was also rude to the second person who walked in. No customer service skills and drinks were mediocre. read more

With so many of our local boba spots in Eastlake/Otay closing I'm glad we have a new one nearby that's actually good. I came here a few weeks ago during the first week of soft opening. I originally wanted to try the corn cloud matcha but they said they couldnt make it, not sure if it was out or just not prepped but anyway... finding a corn latte or matcha in san diego is not very common, and i understand they just opened but it was just disappointing. I settled for the mango matcha instead since the cashier recommended it and it wasnt horrible, just not that good. The staff just seemed to scramble everywhere also. Ill def come back to try that corn cloud matcha but this place is very out of the way for me. If nothing else it good, its not worth coming back. read more

Pulled up to Bubble & Butter and Elisha took care of us. She was hella cool, super welcoming, and actually knew her menu. She pointed us to the Brown Sugar Dirty Boba and yoooo... she wasn't lying. The boba was so fresh you could literally taste the warmth. I don't know what kind of wizardry y'all got going on back there, but keep doing it. We also grabbed the Strawberry Stick Danish and that thing had NO business being that crispy. I was thinking, Cool, just a little pastry, and next thing I know I'm fighting my daughter over the last bite. The shop itself is clean, bright, and hella cute. Definitely one of those spots you actually want to hang out in instead of grabbing your drink and dipping. There's no seating inside but you have plenty outside seats. Elisha, if you're reading this... thanks for the recommendation. You created repeat customers. Bubble & Butter is officially our family's go-to boba spot now. Unfortunately, my experience with the Bubble Waffles has been extremely disappointing. Over the past month, I have visited three separate times specifically hoping to enjoy what I consider some of the best Bubble Waffles near Terra Nova. Each visit has ended the same way. I was told the waffle machine was down. Today, I stopped by again in the early afternoon, hoping to finally get a Bubble Waffle, and once again learned that the machine was still broken. At this point, it has become frustrating as a loyal customer who enjoys both the boba and the Bubble Waffles. While I appreciate the staff's professionalism, the ongoing issue with the waffle machine is costing you business sales and creating a disappointing customer experience. I sincerely hope management addresses and repairs the machine soon. I'd love to continue supporting this business, but repeated visits without being able to purchase one of their signature items are becoming discouraging. Please bring the Bubble Waffles back!

When I walked in, the place immediately felt inviting. It was clean, bright, and had a relaxing atmosphere that made you want to stay for a bit. One thing I noticed right away was their tablet ordering system. It made it really easy to browse the menu and place my drink order without feeling rushed. Super convenient and user friendly, especially if you like to take your time deciding on flavors. There was only one employee working when I arrived, a young girl who was handling everything by herself. Even with a couple of orders ahead of me, she moved quickly and stayed focused. You could tell she was doing her best to keep up with the small rush and get everyone's drinks out as fast as possible. Her effort and attitude really stood out. I ordered the strawberry lemonade with crystal boba and it was honestly incredible. Refreshing, flavorful, and one of those drinks you finish quicker than you expect because it tastes that good. The mix of sweet strawberry and the bounce from the crystal boba was perfect. Overall, this spot is absolutely worth checking out. It may be a little hidden, but it is definitely worth finding. Between the convenient tablet ordering, the friendly service, and the delicious drinks, I would recommend this shop to anyone in the area. I would gladly come back the next time I am nearby.

The shop is in a plaza with a laundromat, Chinese food, a barbershop, and a taco shop next door, so it's super convenient. I ordered the House Special tea with boba, and my wife got the Oreo Taro with 30% sugar both drinks were great and perfectly made to our liking. The vibe inside is super chill. We grabbed a spot by the window so we could people-watch while we enjoyed our drinks. Service was friendly and fast, and it felt welcoming from the moment we walked in. The owner offered to remake any drink that needed to be adjusted. He is hospitable and remembers customers that return to his shoppe. The area is clean and the bathroom hallway has a full size mirror so that you can do a fit check or group selfie.. found this place on Facebook groups and we stopped by after eating dinner in the area. Parking lot had spaces, but we came in the evening.

The pork was very tasty, nicely marinated. My only gripe was the ingredients were kind of skimpy. They could have added a little more veggies or protein. Overall, a great addition to Eastlake. Definitely have to try their other food offerings and drinks.
