I went to an event yesterday that was catered by Parisian Gourmandises. I wish I took pictures because the spread was incredible. The was a table with quiche, bagels, lox, cream cheese, and two types of salads. Another space had multiple tarts and large fresh fruit platters. And finally one last spot had fresh cooked salmon covered in pistachios. The chef and staff were amazing. They took time to explain to guests what each item was if they had questions. Last but not least they are a kosher kitchen. If you need kosher fare this is the place! The store itself is tucked away and has amazing pastries as well. read more

5/11/2026 CHOCO CHIP PISTACHIO COOKIE Wow! This was reeeeally good! It was crispy on the outside and slightly chewy on the inside. Lots of chocolate and I think they added toffee in it too. The middle section had pistachio frangipane (or it looked like it) with coarsely chopped pistachios that brought another layer of crunch! Then to top it all off, it had pistachio cream on top of the cookie! I only wish I got another one. CAPPUCCINO It was okay. But love the foam! It was frothy and foamy! PAVLOVA The meringue was a bit too hard and too sweet and the pastry cream was overwhipped. Loved the fresh fig and blueberries though. I was looking forward to eating pavlova and this was very disappointing! KOUIGN AMANN Very buttery and sticky! Crispy on the outside. Every bite was not dry, but chewy. There was this sticky and chewy texture that wasn't unpleasant, yet it wasn't fully flaky like a croissant. But glad it was not dry! The kouign amann was not as tall like others I've tried, but I preferred it this way because it was not dry. The last kouign amann I had from Bread Lounge was dryyyy. But bought mine at a coffee shop too. PAIN AU CHOCOLAT Crispy on the outside, but I must have toasted a bit more, so the outside was a bit more toasted than desired. Inside was good. Good dark chocolate. BUTTER CROISSANT Really buttery, flaky, crispy! Ate it next day, so reheated it in the toaster oven to bring a more crispness all around. Really enjoyed this! Adding butter and jam is so good! LEMON MERINGUE Meringue had a strong eggy smell and flavor, the lemon was tangy, but not enough to rid of the eggy smell and flavor. The tart was hard and almost stale. I took a few bites and threw the rest out. PAIN SUISSE Chocolate flavor. Crispy on the outside, fluffy like a light spongy cake inside. Enjoyed this! CUSTOMER SERVICE Got there early afternoon. There was only one person in front of me. Good service overall. Quick service. Hits and misses of the various pastries I've tried. It will not deter me from trying their pastries though, as the really good ones were really good! Would love to return! Especially for that Choco Chip Pistachio Cookie! Have always had a pleasant experience every visit and a must visit when you're in La Jolla. Go inside the Floral Palette shop and this french bakery's shop is at the back. I wished I lived in the area so I could come by more often. La Jolla has a lot to offer, very scenic and unique shops, restaurants and boutiques. The home decor and gifts were beautiful. The color schemes would brighten any home. In the back of the gift shop was a pastry and coffee shop. A few tables were available outside by the entrance. The cute bakery didn't have any seating inside. I bought a Pumpkin tart, mini Mango cake and a mini pecan pie. They do have full-size cakes, but I chose to make my own sampler. It was very busy, it took about 10 to 15 minutes in line to place my order. Don't be in a rush, plan to wait a bit and browse around the shop. Want a taste of Paris? Well it's tucked in the corner of a flower shop/retail store. The pastries here take me back to the goodness I experienced in France. Everything is always fresh, and you can tell the ingredients are high quality. They have a mix of authentic and trendy pastries. Nothing has been too sweet for me which is what I love. They have a killer pear danish. Croissants are flaky, butter, and perfect. Crunchy fruit desserts are unique, I would compare them to a mousse. The line was very short around 10 am on a Friday, the pastry selection was extensive and everything looked fresh and well decorated. Unfortunately, appearance was the only consistent strong suit across the pastries that I sampled. The yuzu croissant roll was weakly flavored, almost like plain pastry cream. I did appreciate the fresh meringue decoration on top. The pistachio croissant had generous filling but again the flavor itself was too muted. Same comment for the mango and coconut shaped desserts - lovely to behold but uninspiring on the palate. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy the taste of any pastry here. When it comes to bakeries, for me flavor far outweighs style so Parisien Gourmandises missed the mark on this visit. read more

The gourmandises is located behind a shop! The front is a shop that sells baby stuff, floral decor, and other knick knacks. At the back of the store there is a small cafe. There is limited seating outdoor and indoor. I really enjoyed the croissants but will have to note it is on the crispier side. There isn't as much soft dough, and the majority of the croissant is just crispy. If you don't like super crispy croissants, I wouldn't recommend it. They are now also serving PARU MATCHA! Paru closed down, but they sell the matcha that was served at paru so if you would like matcha, definitely visit this place. read more

A flaky and just enough buttery finish. The almond are my favorites. They have pizza , and fruit and mushroom more savory ones too. The filled ones are stuffed like the pistachio croissant. Too much filling for me and sweet but the flavors are fantastic. I just prefer a less sweet pastry. Their sandwiches are large. The are making all the viral fruit pastries too. The bakery is located inside a decor/furniture store all the way at the back! Since it's more of a bakery than a cafe, you'll stand at the desk to order and then find seating. Super cute interior, floral and pastel. There's very little seating on the inside right outside of the bakery and some tables outside of the store. We tried their ceremonial matcha, which says they use the local matcha store's (PARU) and it was very smooth! You can request for sweet or unsweetened, and choose what milk or sweetener to add to it. I picked maple syrup, which PARU used to pair with their lattes when they still offered to-go. My friend chose vanilla! The raspberry rose croissant was delicious-- there was cream inside and the rose-flavored coating was delicious, and it was sweet but not overwhelmingly so. A cute place to enjoy pastries! read more

Who could possibly resist the artistry at Parisien Gourmandises? Certainly not me I practically ran inside, ready to let their beautiful pastries put on a full-blown dance performance in my mouth. Even though I visited later in the day (a few hours before closing), the cases were still packed with colorful creations... though you could tell plenty had already been devoured by other lucky customers. The shop itself is tucked inside The Floral Palette, which makes the whole experience extra dreamy. Picture: delicate floral dishes, bright and playful pastries, and perfectly golden, flaky croissants it's like a little Parisian daydream wrapped in butter and sugar. After staring longingly at everything, I finally settled on two: the vanilla caramel croissant and the mango pastry. The croissant was filled with a light, decadent cream that had just the right hint of caramel sweetness. The mango pastry? A perfect marriage of fruit and cream that was so refreshing, I kept eating even when I was way too full. Let's just say my "hungry hippo" side fully came out, and I have zero regrets. This bakery is inside of a pretty expensive little store. Came during lunch with a coworker and, sadly, they were completely out of fresh bread. Definitely something to note if you're trying to get some. I ended up trying a few different pastries: Raspberry Rose Filled Croissant (outside was good, but the pastry was overstuffed with a sweet filling that overpowered the entire croissant), Pistachio Filled Croissant (similar to the raspberry rose, but not as sweet and not as stuffed. Not a strong pistachio flavor overall unless you eat the actual pistachio pieces on top), and Pain Au Chocolat (this was pretty good, but nothing special. I've had similar pastries to this many a times). Their desserts are more cute/pretty than delicious in my opinion. I wouldn't mind coming back here again if someone else wanted to, but I wouldn't suggest it myself. Overall, just mehh. read more

Such a cute place! We were visiting SD for a quick vacation and stumbled upon this place since other places closed already. They have a large array of authentic Parisian pastries, croissants, danishes, sandwiches, and cafe drinks. The owner is originally from Paris and wanted to bring a taste of France to the US. All pastries are baked by chefs with extensive background in upscale restaurants. Upon first bite, you are enveloped in fragrant butter and perfect flakiness. We got two savory crossaints: caramelized onion with fig, and tomato, olive and ricotta. We also got two sweet croissants, which I cant wait to try later. Located in Floral Palette La Jolla, you are instantly transported to Europe. The staff is super friendly and patient and rightly so since you'll have decision paralysis after seeing all the choices. I've visited the bakery 3 times, usually around noon and have not seen the full spread of items available. Today I stopped in since I was celebrating my birthday. This review is for the rolled banana croissant . Every time I visit I always order the rolled banana croissant and it never disappoints!!! The round croissant is cut in half, piped with delicious cream that is perfectly sweet that goes so well with the caramel sauce and bananas, perfect combo! If the bakery reads this review, it would be even better if there were a few more banana slices inside or caramelized banana on top, IMO. One more thing, it would be awesome if you opened on weekends. Today I ordered the banana and creme brulee rolled croissant and the banana was better. I was the only customer so ordering was simple. I came to this adorable shop after receiving a recommendation from a friend. My mother and I had spent the day at the beach and came to get a refreshment and snack on a super hot day. There was a very nice young woman working behind the counter that was running all over the place trying to take care of several people. Oddly, there were two other people behind the counter that were just completely checked out. They weren't making eye contact with anybody or helping the young girl behind the counter. I felt terrible for her. I really did not like seeing two people standing around doing absolutely nothing while one was working so hard but the service we received was so good so no complaints there. Our pastries were very fresh and delicious and we enjoyed our drinks as well. The only thing that I had a little bit of an issue with was the limited seating. There were only a couple tables inside, and were a couple tables outside. The tables m outside were in direct sunlight and it was a very warm day. Unfortunately the table inside occupied by people that did not seem to actually be patient of the coffee shop so we did end up sitting outside in the sun. It's still beautiful San Diego so it obviously wasn't that bad and this is a very cute and unique spot that I would recommend checking out if you're in the La Jolla area. I can confidently say this French bakery tucked inside the cutest little boutique shop is hands-down the best bakery I've ever been to. And that's saying a lot considering it's more than 50 miles from my house. Every single time I make the drive and bring new people with me, they all say the same thing: it's absolutely worth it. You truly cannot go wrong with anything you order here. I have never been disappointed, and neither have any of the friends and family I've brought along. On one visit, I took two friends and we ordered six different items to share. Every single time we tried something new, someone would declare, "Okay, this one is the best one." Then we'd move on to the next dessert and suddenly that one was the best. It turned into a running joke because each pastry somehow outdid the last. That kind of consistency is rare. If I had to pick personal favorites, the Ferrero Rocher, chocolate chip cookie and croissants are absolute standouts. The flavor is rich without being overwhelming, and the textures are perfectly balanced. The fruit entremets are also phenomenal, especially the lime and passion fruit. They're bright, fresh, and beautifully executed with just the right amount of sweetness and tartness. You can tell real care and craftsmanship go into every single item. On top of the incredible pastries, the customer service is always top tier. The staff is patient, welcoming, and genuinely kind, especially when I bring first-timers who need a few extra minutes to decide because everything looks so good. They never rush you and are happy to answer questions or make recommendations. This place is a gem. It may not be close to home for me, but it's become a destination. Incredible desserts and pastries! We were back within a week of our first time in because I couldn't stop thinking about it. Fresh, light, balanced flavors and so many unique creations. You navigate an adorable shop to get to the bakery in the back but you can smell the fresh pastries from the sidewalk, follow your nose! There are bistro style tables inside and out with 2-4 chairs each, so not great for larger groups but lovely to sit outside if there's space. When you walk in the bakery the kitchen is exposed so you can watch the chefs busy at work which I think is fascinating. The Raspberry Rose Croissant is my top pastry recommendation - it was divine, both airy and crunchy with the perfect balance of flavors. The Fig and Mascarpone Danish and Strawberry Nutella Danish are lovely but I wish they had fruit all throughout. My top cake recommendation is Le Royal - a chocolate hazelnut cake with a perfectly crunchy underside that I am baffled was not at all soggy. The Raspberry Chocolate Mousse Tarte had a wonderful balance of raspberry to dark chocolate, and not too dark. We will absolutely be back. Lots. read more

There is a super small eating area with two tables that you can use after you order and pay and pick up at the counter. They also have grab and go salads. read more

My girl and I ordered their pistachio and strawberry/ Lychee croissants. My first time here and I will come back and give this another try. I asked the server for recommendations, but he said they were all good. I tried to get more information from him about a few of the pastries, but I don't think he knew the products or how to describe them. Since I like pistachio, I got the #PistachioCroissant and the Fig pastry. They were both OK but my sister who's been here said I need to try something with chocolate next time. I discovered this place in IG. Located in this shop that reminds of paper source meets Anthropologie. It is tucked in the back of the store. They sell breads, pastries, cakes, sandwiches and drinks. They are only open M-F. There is seating available inside and out is is limited. They are friendly and helpful. We tried the fig and mascarpone danish. The strawberry Nutella danish and a matcha latte. The matcha latte was thick. I probably should have opted for more sweetener. My girls enjoyed the strawberry Nutella danish. Very busy on a weekday morning but line moves quickly. Got the chocolate strawberry spiral croissant and match strawberry croissant. Both were heavy in a good way! Filled with a light flavor cream and fruit, truly delicious. Each bite had a perfect combo of sweetness from the cream, tang from the fresh fruit, and buttery flakey goodness from the croissant itself. While waiting in line, we saw a fly land on some pastries and made sure not to opt for those. Can only hope they didn't land on the ones we ended up with but that's the con of open pastry displays. I had a short but disappointing experience at this bakery, driven by a few key issues that stood out immediately. First, upon walking in, there was a very strong, strange chemical or oil-like smell that I couldn't quite identify. It was noticeable enough that we almost left before ordering, which is really not what you expect when you walk into a bakery. You expect warm, inviting smells, not something that makes you question whether you should stay. The service felt cold and unwelcoming. I tried to make about ten seconds of small talk, literally just a "Hi, how are you?", and was met with a blank stare, no response, and no acknowledgment beyond moving on to take the order. There was no warmth or basic friendliness, which immediately set an uncomfortable tone. I ordered a chocolate croissant and a hot chocolate but was given an almond croissant instead. I didn't realize the mistake until after I had already left the cafe. My order was never repeated back to me or confirmed, but I very clearly ordered the chocolate croissant, so it seems my order was misheard. While the pastry itself was good, the overall experience felt cold, awkward, and unwelcoming, and that ultimately matters just as much as the food. Between the off-putting smell, the lack of basic hospitality, and the incorrect order, it's not a place I feel compelled to return to. read more
