A French bakery inside a boutique store? Yes, please! Tucked in the back of this cute boutique store, that is also a Jellycat stockist, is an amazing bakery of French baked goods and coffee. It's been years since I visited France and had amazing peach danishes there. So when I saw this bakery offer the same here, I had to get it. I got my pastry and coffee to dine in, which meant carrying out my food and utensils out to the front seating area. My coffee was then brought out by the kind staff. How heavenly it was to eat this buttery, flaky and fruity danish while sipping a latte al fresco style on a warm weekday morning in La Jolla. I wish I had ordered more pastries to take home and sample. Alas, I have to come back in person for sure.
5/11/2026 CHOCO CHIP PISTACHIO COOKIE Wow! This was reeeeally good! It was crispy on the outside and slightly chewy on the inside. Lots of chocolate and I think they added toffee in it too. The middle section had pistachio frangipane (or it looked like it) with coarsely chopped pistachios that brought another layer of crunch! Then to top it all off, it had pistachio cream on top of the cookie! I only wish I got another one. CAPPUCCINO It was okay. But love the foam! It was frothy and foamy! PAVLOVA The meringue was a bit too hard and too sweet and the pastry cream was overwhipped. Loved the fresh fig and blueberries though. I was looking forward to eating pavlova and this was very disappointing! KOUIGN AMANN Very buttery and sticky! Crispy on the outside. Every bite was not dry, but chewy. There was this sticky and chewy texture that wasn't unpleasant, yet it wasn't fully flaky like a croissant. But glad it was not dry! The kouign amann was not as tall like others I've tried, but I preferred it this way because it was not dry. The last kouign amann I had from Bread Lounge was dryyyy. But bought mine at a coffee shop too. PAIN AU CHOCOLAT Crispy on the outside, but I must have toasted a bit more, so the outside was a bit more toasted than desired. Inside was good. Good dark chocolate. BUTTER CROISSANT Really buttery, flaky, crispy! Ate it next day, so reheated it in the toaster oven to bring a more crispness all around. Really enjoyed this! Adding butter and jam is so good! LEMON MERINGUE Meringue had a strong eggy smell and flavor, the lemon was tangy, but not enough to rid of the eggy smell and flavor. The tart was hard and almost stale. I took a few bites and threw the rest out. PAIN SUISSE Chocolate flavor. Crispy on the outside, fluffy like a light spongy cake inside. Enjoyed this! CUSTOMER SERVICE Got there early afternoon. There was only one person in front of me. Good service overall. Quick service. Hits and misses of the various pastries I've tried. It will not deter me from trying their pastries though, as the really good ones were really good! Would love to return! Especially for that Choco Chip Pistachio Cookie! LOCATED INSIDE ANOTHER STORE Located inside a store called Floral Palette, which is a floral shop and specialty gift store. Beautiful store! The sign is big, so you cannot miss it!
Not only is the store/bakery beautiful, the pastries and latte were also freshly made, crunchy and buttery delicious. I wish I had more room for desserts too. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. The ambiance is cozy, airy as if you were in a bakery in Paris. I can't wait to come back and try their other pastries and coffee. Highly recommended, if you are visiting La Jolla!

Amazing bakery- they offer something for everyone in your group! They have the tastiest croissants, my favorites are any with cream/ custard (they have authentic real creme brûlées!) They also offer coffees (well equipped with a La Marzoco machine and an equivalently good grinder) they also make an exquisite matcha. On Sundays they have a convenient quick service pop up shop offering the same pastries and some savory snacks for you to pick up and go take to the park to enjoy with some ocean views.
This bakery is inside another store which was a surprise to me. I didn't expect such a cute bakery to be found inside another store. Love the croissant stuff animal that they had by the cash registers. Their bake goods were delicious and look amazing. Nice place to swing by if you're around the area.
Parisian Gourmandises is a french bakery that offers both sweet and savory selections, coffee and french sodas. Staff are friendly and always very helpful. Have always had a pleasant experience every visit and a must visit when you're in La Jolla. Go inside the Floral Palette shop and this french bakery's shop is at the back. Indoor and outdoor seating and pup friendly. Street parking usually available close to the entry. As much as I like all bakery goods, lately I've been mostly interested in savory treats. But everything here is fantastique! Recommend
I wished I lived in the area so I could come by more often. La Jolla has a lot to offer, very scenic and unique shops, restaurants and boutiques. The home decor and gifts were beautiful. The color schemes would brighten any home. In the back of the gift shop was a pastry and coffee shop. A few tables were available outside by the entrance. The cute bakery didn't have any seating inside. I bought a Pumpkin tart, mini Mango cake and a mini pecan pie. They do have full-size cakes, but I chose to make my own sampler. It was very busy, it took about 10 to 15 minutes in line to place my order. Don't be in a rush, plan to wait a bit and browse around the shop. This was my first experience trying the viral fruit pastries. Parisien Gourmandises did NOT disappoint! Every flavor was delectable! I was in a family trip and shared with the crew. These were a hit! With the exception of the Blueberry, all of the flavors were just right. I wanted more Blueberry flavor.
Want a taste of Paris? Well it's tucked in the corner of a flower shop/retail store. The pastries here take me back to the goodness I experienced in France. Everything is always fresh, and you can tell the ingredients are high quality. They have a mix of authentic and trendy pastries. Nothing has been too sweet for me which is what I love. They have a killer pear danish. Croissants are flaky, butter, and perfect. Crunchy fruit desserts are unique, I would compare them to a mousse. Service is always wonderful, great family running this place, and the baker is very passionate with what she makes.
Worth all the hype and more. I truly wish we could've sampled every single item, but we'll have to wait for our next trip! The bakery is located in the back of this incredibly cute store. If we had the time I would've browsed the store coffee and croissant in hand, dropping crumbs back to my favorite clothes and decor. The raspberry croissant was my absolutes favorite. The shining star of our order. Highly recommend! We'll definitely be back next summer!

Why??? Why did I not know about this patisserie? It is like walking down the street in Paris from our Airbnb and grabbing a bite to eat. This is an amazing bakery, the desserts were out of this world, and the savory tarts were even better. I am not going to even tell you which ones we bought, because honestly you need to just walk in here, look at which one fills your eyes with joy and buy that one. They are all delicious. Beautiful to for all your senses. Now I will have to find the quickest route of Ramona to La Jolla, just to enjoy these delicacies more often. read more

What a sweet surprise! The pastries are beyond gorgeous and taste as good as they look. If I lived nearby, I'd be there a couple times a week and anytime I had guests to impress. Prices were also very reasonable. Thumbs up on the croissants, perfectly made and baked, pieces of edible art. Savory items are also on point. read more
The line was very short around 10 am on a Friday, the pastry selection was extensive and everything looked fresh and well decorated. Unfortunately, appearance was the only consistent strong suit across the pastries that I sampled. The yuzu croissant roll was weakly flavored, almost like plain pastry cream. I did appreciate the fresh meringue decoration on top. The pistachio croissant had generous filling but again the flavor itself was too muted. Same comment for the mango and coconut shaped desserts - lovely to behold but uninspiring on the palate. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy the taste of any pastry here. When it comes to bakeries, for me flavor far outweighs style so Parisien Gourmandises missed the mark on this visit. read more

The gourmandises is located behind a shop! The front is a shop that sells baby stuff, floral decor, and other knick knacks. At the back of the store there is a small cafe. There is limited seating outdoor and indoor. I really enjoyed the croissants but will have to note it is on the crispier side. There isn't as much soft dough, and the majority of the croissant is just crispy. If you don't like super crispy croissants, I wouldn't recommend it. They are now also serving PARU MATCHA! Paru closed down, but they sell the matcha that was served at paru so if you would like matcha, definitely visit this place. read more

My go to. One by my office and one by my home. The owner is sweet and love her son who is there alot at least in LJ. The pastries are art. They taste great , the croissants are perfect. A flaky and just enough buttery finish. The almond are my favorites. They have pizza , and fruit and mushroom more savory ones too. The filled ones are stuffed like the pistachio croissant. Too much filling for me and sweet but the flavors are fantastic. I just prefer a less sweet pastry. Their sandwiches are large. The are making all the viral fruit pastries too. Insta and tik tok worthy. They also have the giant croissant! Coffees are so delish. I mean they take time to make them really well. In the back of their shop. I love this place. The vibe is just happy. Shop around, so many beautiful things to see and grab a coffee and a snack or a sandwich for lunch. read more

The bakery is located inside a decor/furniture store all the way at the back! Since it's more of a bakery than a cafe, you'll stand at the desk to order and then find seating. Super cute interior, floral and pastel. There's very little seating on the inside right outside of the bakery and some tables outside of the store. We tried their ceremonial matcha, which says they use the local matcha store's (PARU) and it was very smooth! You can request for sweet or unsweetened, and choose what milk or sweetener to add to it. I picked maple syrup, which PARU used to pair with their lattes when they still offered to-go. My friend chose vanilla! The raspberry rose croissant was delicious-- there was cream inside and the rose-flavored coating was delicious, and it was sweet but not overwhelmingly so. A cute place to enjoy pastries! read more
There was a big line for this bakery at the LaJolla Wine and Arts festival. They had set up in front of their shop. Everything looked so delicious, and beautiful too. And they were delicious! I especially like the salted caramel tart. read more

Very cute store that sells home decor, children's clothing and delicious beautiful desserts . But it was closed because it was Sunday. However the pastry section had a pop up in front of the store since it was the La Jolla Art and Wine Festival. We got a salted caramel tart, pumpkin spice pastry and a mango mouse dessert. Everything was as delicious as it looked . Will be back to check everything out . read more

Who could possibly resist the artistry at Parisien Gourmandises? Certainly not me I practically ran inside, ready to let their beautiful pastries put on a full-blown dance performance in my mouth. Even though I visited later in the day (a few hours before closing), the cases were still packed with colorful creations... though you could tell plenty had already been devoured by other lucky customers. The shop itself is tucked inside The Floral Palette, which makes the whole experience extra dreamy. Picture: delicate floral dishes, bright and playful pastries, and perfectly golden, flaky croissants it's like a little Parisian daydream wrapped in butter and sugar. After staring longingly at everything, I finally settled on two: the vanilla caramel croissant and the mango pastry. The croissant was filled with a light, decadent cream that had just the right hint of caramel sweetness. The mango pastry? A perfect marriage of fruit and cream that was so refreshing, I kept eating even when I was way too full. Let's just say my "hungry hippo" side fully came out, and I have zero regrets. Parisien Gourmandises get ready, because I'll definitely be back to make more of your divine treats disappear. This is a must stop treat! As a bonus the store is filled with amazing decor, florals and gifts for little minis. read more

Place is booming with customers. Every time we come out from LA to San Diego we have to stop by. Their pastries are always fresh and worth an open kitchen environment we can see the magic as it happens. Which is lovely along with the bookstore attached with seating right outside the bakery our food/desserts don't make it very far without getting violated. This bakery is inside of a pretty expensive little store. Came during lunch with a coworker and, sadly, they were completely out of fresh bread. Definitely something to note if you're trying to get some. I ended up trying a few different pastries: Raspberry Rose Filled Croissant (outside was good, but the pastry was overstuffed with a sweet filling that overpowered the entire croissant), Pistachio Filled Croissant (similar to the raspberry rose, but not as sweet and not as stuffed. Not a strong pistachio flavor overall unless you eat the actual pistachio pieces on top), and Pain Au Chocolat (this was pretty good, but nothing special. I've had similar pastries to this many a times). Their desserts are more cute/pretty than delicious in my opinion. I wouldn't mind coming back here again if someone else wanted to, but I wouldn't suggest it myself. Overall, just mehh. read more

Such a cute place! We were visiting SD for a quick vacation and stumbled upon this place since other places closed already. They have a large array of authentic Parisian pastries, croissants, danishes, sandwiches, and cafe drinks. The owner is originally from Paris and wanted to bring a taste of France to the US. All pastries are baked by chefs with extensive background in upscale restaurants. Upon first bite, you are enveloped in fragrant butter and perfect flakiness. We got two savory crossaints: caramelized onion with fig, and tomato, olive and ricotta. We also got two sweet croissants, which I cant wait to try later. Located in Floral Palette La Jolla, you are instantly transported to Europe. The staff is super friendly and patient and rightly so since you'll have decision paralysis after seeing all the choices. I will definitely be coming back to try everything on the menu next time i'm in the area! read more
Parisien Gourmandises is a charming pastry shop that brings a slice of Paris in La Jolla and i cannot help but come back a second time, the same week to try more! Its pastries are perfectly made, not too sweet and it just makes you come back for more. I love the Mango Entremet, It's a melt in your mouth goodness and the Cream-filled Croissant was crispy-flaky, buttery. So so good! The servers were very attentive and helpful. The shop is nestled inside a fancy boutique that makes it the best stop after shopping! The pastries are neatly arranged and in full view so you can choose what you want. I hope you find time to check this shop. It is worth going to! read more
Not what I was expecting. I was really hoping for some really delicious pastries. But alas no. I was excited to see they had kouign amann but it was so salty. I have tried these at a few other places and they all had a nice sweet crust or powder sugar on top. Nothing on these that tasted remotely sweet. I really wonder if they forgot the sugar or this is the norm (which would be disappointing). The ferrero rocher was okay but not amazing. The macarons were for my kiddos but they did not want to finish them. read more

A rare find - a true French patisserie, with perfect pasties and good coffees. We come here whenever we are in the area. Today's croissant was delicious. The passion fruit pastry makes you think of Hawaii ;albeit it is bit too sweet for me) Located inside a luxury gift shop/ decor shop. read more
This bakery is hidden deep inside the store. They had so many delicious options and also sell pre-packed salad & fresh sandwiches. Blueberry Croissant - Im usually not a sweets person but this was bomb. It's not too sweet and not overly flaky, the worst is eating a croissant that's spilling all over the place. I came to this adorable shop after receiving a recommendation from a friend. My mother and I had spent the day at the beach and came to get a refreshment and snack on a super hot day. There was a very nice young woman working behind the counter that was running all over the place trying to take care of several people. Oddly, there were two other people behind the counter that were just completely checked out. They weren't making eye contact with anybody or helping the young girl behind the counter. I felt terrible for her. I really did not like seeing two people standing around doing absolutely nothing while one was working so hard but the service we received was so good so no complaints there. Our pastries were very fresh and delicious and we enjoyed our drinks as well. The only thing that I had a little bit of an issue with was the limited seating. There were only a couple tables inside, and were a couple tables outside. The tables m outside were in direct sunlight and it was a very warm day. Unfortunately the table inside occupied by people that did not seem to actually be patient of the coffee shop so we did end up sitting outside in the sun. It's still beautiful San Diego so it obviously wasn't that bad and this is a very cute and unique spot that I would recommend checking out if you're in the La Jolla area. We were there on a weekday afternoon and very easily found parking right across the street. read more

Incredible desserts and pastries! We were back within a week of our first time in because I couldn't stop thinking about it. Fresh, light, balanced flavors and so many unique creations. You navigate an adorable shop to get to the bakery in the back but you can smell the fresh pastries from the sidewalk, follow your nose! There are bistro style tables inside and out with 2-4 chairs each, so not great for larger groups but lovely to sit outside if there's space. When you walk in the bakery the kitchen is exposed so you can watch the chefs busy at work which I think is fascinating. The Raspberry Rose Croissant is my top pastry recommendation - it was divine, both airy and crunchy with the perfect balance of flavors. My top cake recommendation is Le Royal - a chocolate hazelnut cake with a perfectly crunchy underside that I am baffled was not at all soggy. The Raspberry Chocolate Mousse Tarte had a wonderful balance of raspberry to dark chocolate, and not too dark. We will absolutely be back. Lots. read more
