Was tired after a long weekend and desperately looking for higher quality tea as a pick me up, and happily found it at R&B. We were in Chula Vista at Olympic training center and found this San Diego location on Yelp. Recognized this brand from my last visit to Singapore where it's a very popular and respected. Thankfully the jasmine tea I ordered wasnt bitter, even with no sugar and no milk and just one lightly sweetened topping (grass jelly). Service was very helpful and prompt. Lots of parking and convenient location. I sure do miss my local favorites (Yi Fang and Wanpo) when traveling but very happy to find a place that knows their tea. read more

The boba here is excellent, and the staff are always friendly, attentive, and provide great customer service. Unfortunately, my experience with the Bubble Waffles has been extremely disappointing. Over the past month, I have visited three separate times specifically hoping to enjoy what I consider some of the best Bubble Waffles near Terra Nova. Each visit has ended the same way. I was told the waffle machine was down. Today, I stopped by again in the early afternoon, hoping to finally get a Bubble Waffle, and once again learned that the machine was still broken. At this point, it has become frustrating as a loyal customer who enjoys both the boba and the Bubble Waffles. While I appreciate the staff's professionalism, the ongoing issue with the waffle machine is costing you business sales and creating a disappointing customer experience. I sincerely hope management addresses and repairs the machine soon. I'd love to continue supporting this business, but repeated visits without being able to purchase one of their signature items are becoming discouraging. I always try to stop by R&B tea if I am near one. There aren't many in San Diego so it's always a treat if I can get my favorite drink: brown sugar boba milk. Brown sugar boba milk - my favorite! The fresh milk is so tasty and mixed with a salted cheese foam with brown sugar. (Do not adjust the sweetness down or it won't be as flavorful.) Some other R&B locations offer this is a XL size for $2 more, but not this location. The worker was friendly and made our drinks fast during a weekday afternoon. I've been to the Otay Ranch location once and got the hoikkado milk tea with boba, and they didn't give me boba and tasted insanely sweet. This is my first time at this location at Terra Nova, and I wish I hadn't. I got the strawberry matcha latte, fresh taro milk tea, and strawberry black tea. Safe to say I will not come back here. None of the kids finished their drinks, and neither did I. Here is my honest review. Strawberry matcha latte with boba 0/10 Fresh taro milk tea with crystal boba 5/10 Strawberry black tea with lychee jelly 6/10 The strawberry matcha latte was a horrific experience. It was not a milky matcha latte with hints of strawberry and strawberry pieces I was hoping for. Instead, it was almost a grainy texture, tasted downright sour. The strawberry puree or the strawberry component that they used was tart and sour. The strawberry flavor overpowered the matcha because I didn't taste any matcha whatsoever. The boba pearls had a nice chew, but it was hard in the center. If I was blindfolded and had to try and guess the flavor, I would probably say spoiled strawberry yakult??? This has to be the worst drink I've tasted in my life. I might be traumatized. I asked if the taro milk tea had actual pieces of taro since it said fresh, but no, it didn't. Her response was, "It's just a powder." It did not taste like taro one bit. The jasmine flavor overpowered the taro, and it tasted like jasmine milk tea, but purple in color. Although it was not bad, it was definitely not taro. The crystal boba was all floating, weirdly. It tasted alright but wouldn't recommend it. The strawberry black tea with lychee jelly was okay. It tasted slightly tart, but after the ice melted, it tasted better. The lychee jelly has a chewy texture like coconut jelly you buy from the grocery store but in lychee syrup. R&B Tea was my go to boba spot for my drinks when they were open in Convoy. After that plaza was closed due to some fire, I am glad that this location here exists! It is smaller compared to its Convoy counterpart that had more seating and lounge space. This one is more of a grab and go and with a self-ordering screen near the entrance if you want to avoid ordering at the counter. I decided on a Roasted Oolong Cream Tea and my boyfriend ordered a Brown Rice Tea. The tea flavor was prominent and the sweetness was adjusted well. The tea options here are plentiful as well as milk based drinks, fruit teas, and snacks like bubble waffle. They used to have a Tiramisu foam at the Convoy location that I wish they offered here. Pearls have the correct texture and sweetness although not as much quantity put in each cup as other places which would be the only improvement. Tea was not from powder and had nice flavor. Now that there finally is a boba/ bubble tea place conveniently located during my commute from work to home, I look forward to lighten my wallet and gaining weight. I'm ecstatic that this place has finally opened. I had seen the coming soon banner for months. They had a Grand Opening on March 26th with Lion Dancers and Buy 1 & Get 1 Free just for that day. The tea spot is tucked between Robek Juice & Smoothies and Cold Stone Creamery in the Terra Nova Plaza. Which also means there is plenty of parking spots. The place is quaint with 3 table that can seat 6 people in total. There is a front windowsill table that seats 3. Sadly, no public bathroom. I had dropped by again today to get my boba fix. So far, my favorite is still Honeydew Stormy- taste like the honeydew Melona ice bar - yummy! All the other beverages has been good except Frosty Fruit Passionfruit Milk Tea wasn't to my liking. To be honest, I have never heard of the Frosty Fruit teas before and I'm not sure if they gave me the right one... The cashier was confused about it when I had order it. But this was during the Grand Opening, with the loud and long crowds. I may order that one again, because the one they gave me taste like a regular milk tea. Nothing frosty about it. read more

I usually go to the r&b tea in Otay, but decided to give this a try since it's a lot closer to me. The place is very clean and aesthetic as well. I have tried the dragon fruit stormy and decided to try the frosty passion fruit milk tea. Both are good, but the dragonfruit stormy will always be my favorite. The passion fruit milk tea has a strong black tea base with a hint of passion fruit so if you want a stronger milk tea flavor then this is the drink for you. With that being said, the stormy series is honestly a must try. It's a blended drink with condensed milk around the cup and it's soooo good. The Thai tea stormy is very sweet at 100% sweetness so be aware if you don't have a sweet tooth! The boba itself is soft and sweet which enhances the drink itself so there's never a lack of flavor. Lastly, the service is very nice. The baristas are very welcoming and greet customers that come in. There's also a self serving ordering system where you can customize your own drinks and order from there. You can pay at the counter or at the booth where you can pay touch-less. I do recommend that you either print or have your receipt texted to you as the system doesn't provide your order number if you ask for no receipt. This is no doubt going to be my favorite and go to boba place. It's extremely convenient too because it's right by SWC and the freeway exit/entrance. I love boba and have tried many places before. This place has reasonable prices and the quality is great. The menu selection is also great because there's a lot to choose from. Poor service experience: be prepared for a long wait. I ordered two fruit drinks and it took an abnormally long time for them to make it. The store was mostly empty, all of the other customers having their drinks already. I knew that my drinks were the only ones in queue. I sat there for more than 20 minutes just for two drinks. It was a boy and a girl working, probably in their early 20s. Once they finally handed me my drinks, they gave a half-baked "sorry for the wait" while laughing and giggling in my face. I assume that during the time they were supposed to make my drinks, they were playing around with each other. I wouldn't be as mad if it were packed and if I had more time for their antics, but it was getting late and I wanted to go home. I am ultra happy R&B finally opened at Terra Nova. I work in the same shopping area so seeing the "Coming Soon" sign for months was agonizing. To my dismay, I was not in town the weekend of the grand opening, boohoo. Luckily, I was able to take advantage of the BOGO during the week. What a generous way to welcome customers! I am in there probably once a week if not more. I've bought so much for my coworkers and friends and of course for ME haha. The drinks are not overly sweet and I can taste the tea.
