We sat at the bar while we waited for our orders. Served fast and it was so nice that it wasn't crowded but of course due to it being a weeknight. The parking was a bit tough, but luckily I found a spot not that far away. Overall, you get wonderful customer service here! Thank you Extraordinary Desserts for making our visit enjoyable!!

So good it was scary how good. Absolutely worth going for a treat. It looks like people actually ate dinner there instead of only desserts. We sat inside and it was convenient that you could get your own water & to-go boxes. Made it less stressful. We went late at night, so like the lighting was more like mood lighting, but it was really nice. The place was very much decorated and looked like it had been additionally built-in. Absolutely worth going to. The person at the counter was very nice.

Packed the wrong items. It happens- but what a bummer for a special occasion, and pricier dessert experience. They were closed by the time we discovered it- so no recourse. Sigh.

SERVICE: 4/5 This is primarily a self-serve spot. You order at the front, then choose your own table. They offer more than just desserts, including entrees and drinks, though I didn't try those. One thing to note: there isn't a clearly displayed dessert menu, so it's helpful to look at the options and decide what you want while waiting in line. FOOD: 4.5/5 The desserts are absolutely stunning and beautifully presented. They were a bit sweeter than my personal preference, but still incredibly delicious and worth trying. ATMOSPHERE: 5/5 The interior perfectly complements the desserts with a floral, elegant aesthetic. It's a gorgeous space that makes the whole experience feel special.

Most amazing drinks! Never disappoints mostly likely always a line (order in advance line NOW) Most beautiful desserts you will ever see. Great space in the restaurant to sit and chat while enjoying your dessert and tea. One of my favorites if you're in the area, I must try. Knocked a star because they were out of the chocolate chip cookie :(

Everything looked so delicious. The bakery is beautiful. There's ample space for you to indulge yourself with some nicely decorated desserts. The staff is not so friendly.

Still my go to place when I'm craving something sweet and special. Their cakes may be pricey, but in my opinion, for the amount of work, effort, and quality of ingredients, I think they continue to be fair. For example, some other specialty bakeries/shops are charging similar prices for cakes and cheesecakes that are much simpler. In comparison, Extraordinary Dessert cakes take 3-4 days to make, have 6-8 alternating layers, and are typically adorned with edible gold and/or flowers. The key is to find which items you like and which are okay to pass on next time. What we ried this time: -Match Misu Cake (7/10): ricotta cake layers soaked in matcha and layered with marscapone whipped cream. This one was pretty good and ranks in my middle to high range. I only wish there was more matcha flavor (maybe if you dine in and get the sauce, this would help) or the matcha was paired with another flavor ... either go fruity (maybe a raspberry sauce, strawberry pieces, white peach pieces, or like a peach oolong cream layer) or go chocolately/coffee (maybe had some crushed up chocolate covered espresso beans). My go to's: -Ivoire Royale (10/10) - my ultimate favorite still. If you like light desserts, white chocolate, berries, and moist vanilla cake, thus one is for you. Classy and unpretentious -Shangrila (10/10) - my other favorite and will make you feel like a princess with all the pink chocolate curls. A little bit adventurous and innocently elegant. Ones to skip: -Au Chocolate / La Bete Noire / Dame Chocolate - get the Viking instead. That's my favorite of all their chocolate cakes -Lemon ricotta - get the Passionfruit Ricotta instead -Torta misu - the matcha misu is better. The tortilla misuse made me want a regular piece of tirmaisu than a cake version -Coconut cream - not bad, not amazing though

I hate to say it, but this place felt a bit overhyped to me. It is definitely beautiful and visually appealing, but the prices are high and the taste just did not stand out. I got two slices to go and unfortunately ended up throwing most of them away. One was their version of tiramisu, and it leaned more toward a basic cake rather than having that classic tiramisu texture and flavor. On a positive note, they package everything really well. By the time I got home, the cake and frosting were still perfectly intact, which I appreciated. My recommendation would be not to over order. Sharing a slice with a couple of people is probably the way to go. I would mainly bring visitors here for the presentation rather than the flavor.

Lots of dessert options!!! We had the macadamia cheesecake, black velvet, and chocolate chip cookie. Desserts were delicious and service was excellent. Would like to go back for all the good and coffee!

Dulce de Leche Cake - yummy

My boss ordered the dulce de Leche cake and it was delicious. It fed 10 of us and there was still about 1/2 a cake left so easily can feed 15-20 with small slices. It's rich so you really can't do a huge slice. The flowers aren't edible but make the cake look beautiful.

Went here to extend the celebratation of my Aunt's Birthday after dinner as my Uncle insisted that we should try it out as it is a good dessert place when you're in the area. It was pretty hard to find parking in this area so we walked going here. Upon coming there was a long line to order inside but there's so many tables inside that even if we are a group of 12, we were seated right away. We ordered a variety of cakes and drinks but what stood out for me was their Chocolate Dulce de Leche. Also tried their Dirty Matcha Affogato which is good too. Our table had the Ivoire Royale, Carrot Cake, Flourless Chocolate Berry Cake, and Chocolate dulce de leche and a variety of drinks as well. Everything tasted great and the place really lived up to its hype. A must visit Cafe when you're in San Diego for sure.

My best friend from out of town came to visit and we were looking for a good gluten free dessert after lunch in Little Italy. We headed here since we assumed they would at least one gluten free dessert, and it exceeded our expectations. The place is large, spacious and beautifully decorated. All the desserts were like art and there were at least 4 gluten free options that didn't look like afterthoughts. We had the gluten free flourless chocolate cake with raspberries and strawberries. It was delicious! The service was so sweet and we'd definitely go back!

Best dessert I have ever had. Literally chef's kiss. The parking is ass, but it doesn't matter if you're a fat kid who loves dessert.

Do they still sell chilled cookie dough you can buy?

Yes I saw it tonight, August 2025

Hi All, I have a trip to San Diego from April 22 to April 25. Before I fly back to San Jose on…

Probably too late of an answer but for anyone else who's wondering, they usually pack their desserts in boxes

We have nut allergies. How safe is the food handling?

I wouldn't risk it since a good amount of stuff may contain nuts

Do you make sugar free cakes?

    Yes, they do.

Are the petals on the Ivoire Royale edible?

Yes, they are rose petals with edible gold leafing. All the flowers on the desserts are edible :)

Do you have keto/low carb options?

Not that I'm aware, they have vegan and gluten free for sure

    Are flies still an issue?

Yes, they were present, not bad bad, but noticeable...inside the glass cases at that. I just prayed over my dessert and enjoyed

    Do they make princess cakes?

They don’t do that sort of thing, but they do make gorgeous, fancy cakes and specialty desserts!

When is the best time to order from them? Whenever I go to their online order menu everything is pretty much sold out. I really want to try this place out but never can.

I would just walk in. We walked in and there was no line.

Hi are you all open again? Miss you !

Not all of us... but E.D. Is open for business

Do they deliver whole cakes to a restaurant if you order in advance?

We are able to deliver wedding & catering orders that are arranged weeks in advance. These orders are typically taken by the owner and include a delivery fee. We also partner…

Do they have the brunch dine in?

No. Right now both locations are pick up only.

Are there places to eat dessert outside since inside dine-in is closed?

When I was there last, there were only a few small benches. They used to have spacious restaurant size indoor eating. But they could have opened it back up recently.

Does anyone know if they have opened dine in yet TIA?

Not yet. Still closed with no eta.

    Any dessert contains raw eggs?

To the best of my knowledge, none of the prepared desserts here contain raw eggs. However, Extra Ordinary Desserts does sell cookie dough, to be prepared at home. Some of these may contain raw eggs and are not specifically intended to be eaten…

Are you open for dine in?

    No take out only

Do they offer sauce on the side for take out cakes like how the sauce is poured on plate with slice for dine in?

With all 3 of my orders I received the containers of sauce on the side.

Do they have gluten free options?

Yes but not all the time so call first.

If i want to order a whole cake for a future date, is there a menu online? and can i place the order online?

The menu is online but you have to call to order.

I ordered the Island Girl Coffee, a macadamia latte, and asked for it less sweet. To me, it tasted very similar to a flavored hazelnut latte from Starbucks. Even with reduced sweetness, it was still sweeter than I prefer and had a slightly artificial flavor. If you enjoy flavored Starbucks-style coffee, you'll probably like it, but it's just not my personal preference. I actually didn't finish my drink because the flavor wasn't for me. That said, the cashier was very sweet, and the dessert display looked beautiful and tempting. While the coffee didn't win me over, I'd still come back to give their desserts a try since they looked much more appealing than the drink I ordered. Overall, a nice spot with friendly service, but next time I'll be skipping the flavored coffee and trying one of the desserts instead.
