Not very nice people to deal with. If you question them about insurance they get mad at you. Stay away, far away.

So I took my son here. I found this place to be awesome. It's a creative way of getting children to relax while visiting the dentist.

I am so sad that my two older sons did not have the opportunity to be patients with this practice. But I am SO grateful that my youngest son, who not only has sensory issues but who struggles tremendously with challenging, new experiences let alone ones that are not always very comfortable or pleasant, has had Katie and her staff for his braces journey. This practice is a more than a giant head and shoulders above the other two experiences I have had with orthodontists. The others were kind, professional and got the job done. ?!?! So, why is Katie so much better? It is hard to put into words how caring, honest, skilled and straightforward this practitioner is without seeming to be exaggerating. But I kid you not... she is the genuine article. Let's start with her ability to make it all look easy. The place is relaxed, clean and as she is chatting away like a good friend you are watching her expertly navigate your child's mouth and any trace of anxiety or discomfort. She makes incredibly difficult tasks look effortless and she smiles through it all. And of course, we need to talk about money. It is transparent from the get go. Financial plans and options are made available and you truly understand not only the cost but the cost benefit... every step of the way. Nothing is hidden, disguised or short-changed. And the highest quality of care is just her standard. What you are hoping for, as well as the reality of achieving this end result with realistic timing of outcomes, are explained clearly and expertly. Even more importantly, your child will be heard, attended to, motivated, supported and ultimately successful at Katie Klein. It is all the somewhat invisible intangibles.... A beyond accommodating front desk staff, frequent appointment reminders and yet no guilt or shame inducing practices when appointments are accidentally forgotten or simply missed due to a myriad of circumstances. It is all the big tangibles. You have an emergency? Or need a last minute appointment? You are not told they accommodated you. You are simply accommodated. Katie Klein and her practice are different, because she is that lightning in a bottle kind of Doctor. Real, compassionate, excellent, hardworking, non-judgmental and true to her word and ethics. You want her in your life. Your teeth and/or your child's teeth will thank you. Sure, you may leave many orthodontists with an externally beautiful smile. But it's the smile on your face that comes from working with a true heart that cares for you and your loved ones from the outside and the inside, that stays with you from here.

Some highlights: - I showed up to my appointment on time once and the whole building was emptied out over a fire alarm. I had a quick chat with some of the staff outside, and everyone was friendly. We all go back inside, the receptionist (who I had JUST been talking to outside) tells me I'm 20 minutes late and they can't see me. I honestly thought she was joking. She pretended to have no recollection of the fire alarm, the conversation we'd had 5 minutes ago or the fact that I was with THE ENTIRE STAFF outside just a few minutes ago. Tried appealing to reason and the entire desk staff doubled down that I was late and there was nothing they could do, and I'd be charged for the appointment. The hygienist finally stepped in and sorted it out. - My wife went to see Dr Berik who used her shot at a captive audience (a patient in her chair) to go on and on about politics and MAGA nonsense. I've had teeth for a long time now and I've never had a doctor with so little common sense as to not turn a dental appointment into a podcast. - Finally had enough billing and scheduling issues that I found a new dentist. Newton Dental didn't disappoint. They received multiple requests from both myself and my new dentist to release my records and ignored all of them. They lied over and over again that they would send them in a move that I have to assume was retaliation for leaving. I also assume paying to delete bad reviews stopped being equitable once they started racking up enough of them.

Whoa!! Before I launch into my tirade, it might be useful to know a few things about me: One, I am…read moreridiculously organized about signing documents and keeping records. It's October, and I have already signed every permission slip for my son's field trips with school for the entire year. Two, I NEVER pay bills late, and in fact I regularly pay earlier than I should. I overpay my estimated taxes every year, knowing it's neither legally required nor financially wise, just because it makes me feel better not to owe money. I pay my credit card bill in full every month as soon as I get the bill, well before the due date. Three, I am a working mom, so I'm super busy during the day. It is in this context that I find Dr. Sacramone's behavior even more outrageous than I otherwise might. Here's the story: My daughter was going to get braces from Dr. Sacramone. We had several visits with him so he could review her records, decide on a treatment plan, take molds of her teeth, etc. I paid as invoiced. Once Dr. Sacramone settled on a treatment plan, my husband and I are called in for a consultation about it. (I had to work from home that day to meet with him.) At the consult, I got the sense that Dr. Sacramone was VERY money focused. It's not that I think he should work for fun. But it was weird. He is very put together and very well dressed, which makes it seem like he's more focused on how he looks at work than on the work itself. Maybe I'm out of bounds with that remark, but it seemed out of place. Anyway, the goal of the consult was to let us know how much it was going to cost: $6,500. (Is that a lot for braces? Honestly, I have no idea. We didn't shop around or talk with other orthodontists (although I guess now we will have to).) We set up the initial appointments for my daughter. She goes to her first appointment to get spacers. All good. Soon after that (a few days? not sure) I get a fat envelope from Dr. Sacramone in the mail. I don't have a chance to open it for a few days (that working mom thing), but when I do I see that it contains a pile of invoice stubs that I am supposed to send in once a month with payments. Included is a letter than explains that I am to pay $2,200 up front, plus $240 a month. The letter is dated Sep 26. The initial payment is stated as due on Sep 26. Of course it is already at least a couple of days after that. I immediately send a check for $2,440 for the initial payment and the October 1 monthly amount due. Fatal Flaw Number One -- I fail to notice, and therefore do not sign, the acknowledgment that explains that I understand the payment plan. Today, Oct 9. My daughter has her appointment at 1 p.m. to get the spacers removed and bands put on instead. Here's what happens: 1. I get a text from our amazingly-kind-and-easy-to-get-along-with nanny, who is taking my daughter to the appointment. She asks if I have the signed form to give to Dr. Sacramone's office. I am at work. I say I don't have it, but she can sign for me. She plans to take a photo of the form and do it in front of the secretary at Dr. Sacramone's office so they know she's signing as my agent. Should be easy enough. 2. I get a text from the nanny at 12:58 saying that they won't allow her to sign, and they want to talk to me. Still should be fairly straightforward, no? I tell her to have them call me but to please do it ASAP because I have a meeting (that working mom thing again) at 1. 3. Dr. Sacramone's secretary calls at 1 p.m. and tells me that they need to fax me the form immediately and that I need to sign it and return it before the appointment begins. I tell her that I am about to go into a meeting and that I will definitely send it back right afterward. She says she has to ask the doctor if he'll go ahead without it, and I am flabbergasted but tell her that if it's really a crisis, she should call my cell, and I'll leave my meeting to deal with it. I also point out that I have already sent them over 1/3 of the total cost of service already. She says they don't have it. (Really? I sent the check over a week ago.) 4. The secretary does not call, but she faxes the form at 1:20 p.m. I am in my meeting but I see it. I leave the meeting, sign the document and e-mail it to our nanny at 1:23, and she gives it to them. Fatal Flaw Number Two -- I only returned page 2 of the letter (with the signature page) not page 1. Not good enough. 5. It's 1:38 p.m. Apparently Dr. Sacramone takes my daughter in the back and then proceeds to come out to the front to confront our nanny. ("Is it too much to ask?" etc.) She tries telling him that she really has nothing to do with it, and he shouldn't be rude to her because it's not her fault. 6. 1:49 p.m. Again stopping work, I e-mail page 1. Hah! Too late! Dr. Sacramone has already told the nanny that he will not treat my daughter and has asked them to leave. WHAT?!? It seems I need to cancel my big fat check and find a new orthodontist. Ideas?

I was a patient in the 1990's and when it came time for my own children to need braces I went right to him because I truly trust him. Dr. Lin is patient, professional, caring, personable and very thorough. He cares about his patients as individuals and ensures your questions are answered thoroughly. The man knows his stuff! We had an incredibly disappointing and frustrating experience at this practice. The physician remained largely inaccessible, hiding behind office staff until the very end of the process. Overall, our experience was riddled with incompetence, unprofessionalism, unethical behavior, and deception. My daughter had braces placed here and remained under their care for about 5-6 months before we moved out of the area. Below is a summary of the major issues we encountered -- both during treatment and while transferring to a new orthodontist. 1. Constantly Broken Brackets Almost every visit involved repairing broken brackets -- something we never experienced with our two older children who completed orthodontic treatment elsewhere. The staff repeatedly blamed my daughter, claiming she was eating "hard foods," even when the bracket broke after biting into something as soft as a French fry. Having to return after nearly every routine appointment for broken brackets is highly unusual and concerning. 2. Obstacles in Transferring Records When we requested treatment records after moving, we were told we had to come in person to sign a release -- despite living over 60 miles away. This is not compliant with HIPAA, which requires practices to release records upon a patient's written request without unnecessary barriers. The delay in transferring records to our new orthodontist caused a significant treatment gap, leaving my daughter with broken brackets for an extended period. It took multiple follow-up calls before anything was finally sent. This behavior was both unethical and unprofessional. 3. Extremely Limited Orthodontist Availability The orthodontist was only available Tuesday through Thursday with limited hours. Emergencies or urgent concerns outside those times were left unaddressed. For a medical practice handling active orthodontic cases, this lack of accessibility is unacceptable. 4. Dishonest and Inconsistent Refund Process When we moved, we were told we'd receive only 50% of what we paid -- despite my daughter having completed only 5-6 months out of a 30-month treatment plan. Even their office manager, Daniela, admitted that the fair and standard approach would be a prorated refund of about 80%, but could not justify why the office offered only 50%. They also tried to change the documented treatment time from 30 months to 24 months, reducing our rightful refund. Additionally, although we paid $6,100 out of pocket, the practice also billed our insurance, which wasn't factored into the refund discussion. The entire situation was handled with dishonesty and questionable ethics. 5. Unprofessional Conduct by the Physician After weeks of back-and-forth with staff, the physician finally joined a call -- only to speak in a rude and unprofessional manner. By that point, I had dealt with their team nearly ten times and had lost confidence in the integrity of the practice. Given the repeated mismanagement and lack of accountability, I requested a full refund, which I have yet to receive. Final Thoughts This practice appears to care more about money than patients. Our experience reflects a lack of professionalism, poor patient care standards, and questionable ethics. I would strongly advise families to look elsewhere for orthodontic care.
