I am a mom of 3. Ages from 9 to 2 years old. As a child growing up I feared the dentist. For good reason...The dentists were never warm and companionate and NEVER had patience with children. Of course children are afraid, why wouldn't they be? You have a strangers hand inside your mouth with sharp objects and things that make weird noises. With that being said, I was petrified to take my oldest to the dentist when she was 3 (I think I was more afraid then she was)! My/our first good (no GREAT) experience with a pediatric dentist! I can't begin to tell you how wonderful Dr. Mickey and his staff was with her. They were kind, gentle, caring and warm. My daughter ended up have one cavity, so I thought for sure that getting a filing would have been torture. But I was wrong, thank god! Dr. Mickey sung (yes SUNG) her The Cavity Buggy song, she was so focused on every word of the song, she didn't even feel the needle for the novacain. I believe he may have super powers since he was completely done filling her cavity in less than 4 minutes. She did not make a peep! From then on I have taken all my kids there. I truly have no one bad thing to say. The whole group of doctors and staff are amazing! My kids have seen several different docs there (Dr. Mickeys the only one who sings), but they each have a very special quality about them. Wow, this hasn't been my experience at all !!! It's a shame that the other Yelp reviewers had such a bad experience. We love Dr MIckey's office-- the premise is based on positive reinforcement and a pleasant experience for the kids of all ageas. My daughter (4) can't wait to see the hygienist and the office people are always very pleasant. They sent us paperwork ahead of time for our first visit and checked the insurance twice to be sure there were no misunderstandings (I always check that myself anyway, these days you never know who's covered and for what). Dr Mickey's office came to us through multiple referrals when my daughter got old enough to start seeing the dentis. I have always had great experiences with my dentists and at age 40 and no cavities I think most of my teeth-related habits had/have a lot to do with the positive experience at dentists offices. I've never felt anxious at all, and so I was pretty picky about the office when bringing my daughter. Obviously everyone will have their own experiences-- I just feel it's night and day from the posts from 3-4 years ago (we've been going to this office since 2012). read more

Dr. Mickey and his staff are fantastic! We travel from southern New Hampshire to Stoneham to continue to bring our 6 and 3 year old boys to such a great dentist. In fact, as I was thinking I was insane for driving to Stoneham to go to the dentist, and mentioned the possibility of researching a place closer to home, my 6 year old son was devastated. He said he didn't want to go to any other dentist and actually looks forward to his visits! We started bringing our boys to Dr. Mickey's office when my oldest son was just 18 months old. He had fallen and banged his front teeth, leaving some serious chips. When I asked some friends where to go, they all recommended the same place...Dr. Mickey's office. I was so impressed with how caring and compassionate everyone was and to top it all off, I wasn't even charged for that appointment which would have been pricey given that I didn't have my 18 month old on my dental insurance yet! Long story short, Dr. Mickey's office is great and I do and will continue to highly recommend his office to anyone who asks. read more

We have been going to Dr. Mickey for about 22yrs (I have 5 kids, my oldest is 29yo and my youngest is 15yo twins). Dr. Mickey and all his staff have been incredible with all my kids, even my oldest son who was very afraid his first couple of visits when he was a little guy (luckily his fear didn't last long, given the friendliness and patience from everyone in the office -- especially the doctors and all dental hygienists). I couldn't be happier with the quality of their work with all the services they have provided us over the past 2 decades. My twins compete every 6-months to get on the "NO CAVITY CLUB WALL", which is an incentive for their patience to be cavity free! At the end of every month they take down all the names and hold a raffle where someone in the "NO CAVITY CLUB" will win a prize (my kids have never won, but I heard they have given out Red Sox tickets; gift cards; etc to the lucky winners). I can't say enough good things about this office!! read more

I got a call from my son's school today saying that he had fallen on the concrete steps of the school and chipped both of his front teeth pretty badly. I called Dr. Mickey's office and left a message with the answering service. Five minutes later, I got a call back saying that I could bring my son right in. When we got there, the receptionist was extremely welcoming and we had only waited a few minutes when we were told we could go upstairs. The dentist and assistant that worked on my son made him feel immediately at ease. They reassured him throughout the procedure, explained to both of us what they were doing throughout and were incredibly in tune to my son's fears, needs and comforts. Both my 10 year old son and I were relieved to see how good his teeth looked when they were finished. This is the third time we have been to Dr. Mickey (two times previously for routine cleanings) and I am grateful that we have found such a wonderful pediatric dental office. read more

Our two boys have been visiting Dr. Mickey twice a year for 19 and 13 years respectively. He is kind, compassionate and always makes our boys feel comfortable. At 22 our oldest son can't imagine ever seeing another dentist. At the age of three Dr. Mickey let our children try the water squirter and use the suction to pick it up. He showed them how he would count their teeth and always made them feel at ease. He remembers their likes and hobbies and always shows interest in what is going on in their lives. None of us will lever forget "Go to sleep little tooth" or how excited you got about our $100 tooth fairy incident. Dr Mickey and his friendly, courteous staff will always be part of our children's memories. We love you Dr. Mickey! You are simply the best!!! I have been using Dr. Mickey's office for awhile and I had recently noticed that they are opening up a new orthodontic office across the street. Although I have already had invisalign with another orthodontist in Lexington years ago, I am a little upset that I could not have done this with Dr. Mickey. Dr. Mickey is extremely polite and I have had nothing but positive experiences with him. I will be getting a retainer made from his new orthodontist, because my teeth started to shift about a year after I stopped wearing my old one and now it doesn't fit. The only reason I am giving four stars is because his orthodontic office has not opened yet, and therefore I cannot review it. They have, however, started to take appointments for later in this month, and his receptionist was very polite. read more

First off, I have no idea why there are any negative comments for this page. I definitely have a better perspective considering I have been a patient of Dr.Mickey's for over twelve years. The staff is incredibly friendly, and they really try to comfort the little ones. My brother and I were not always the most cooperative when we were little, but Dr. Mickey and the staff were always patient! My parents have never had an issue with billing or insurance coverage with Dr. Mickey and Associates. I am in college now, and it makes me sad to think that I will have to get another dentist in a few years! Great memories at Dr. Mickey and Associates! The office has a fun and kid-friendly atmosphere! I highly recommend taking your children here! read more

Every staff member we interacted with was amazing. The receptionists were all friendly. My son has special needs and requires a bit more time and attention to get comfortable enough to have his teeth examined. The staff was kind and patient with him. He left the office in a good mood and so did I! In addition to being kind, the practice was also professional and provided good quality care. I had submitted the paperwork with health history forms prior to our visit and it was obvious that both the hygienist and dentist had taken the time to review prior to seeing my son. They addressed all my concerns thoroughly. I can't wait to bring my younger child there for her first exam! read more

I have not had any problems with my insurance or unpaid account balances like mentioned in the previous comments. I have been taking my 15 year old son and 11 year old daughter to Dr. Mickey since my husband and I moved to the area 5 years ago. The office specializes in children and all of the wallpaper is themed accordingly. My kids are frequently members of the no cavity club, which is a silly little reason to get them excited. The office has toys in the waiting room and free stuff to distract the kids. I suppose it may be beneficial to check with the front desk exactly what is covered with your insurance, but with Delta Dental I have never had a problem. read more

I grew up with the old school dentistry, not kid friendly at all. So finding someone that fit my criteria and high standards was going to be hard... So I thought. I asked around at all my 6yr old sons play dates, moms at his school, anyone and everyone that had a child. And they ALL said Dr. Mickey. So I thought well that says a lot lets go for it! I am so pleased and he actually loves going there. They were great with him & he could asked all the questions he wanted about everything! We had cleanings there and cavities filled. They were fantastic with those, the fun ways to get the "sugar germs" out. I highly recommend them to anyone that asks! read more

My youngest son has been going to Dr. Mickey's office the last few years and we have always had a positive experience with all the employees. They are all very professional and go above and beyond to make sure that the children are comfortable with any work being done. I love how they talk directly to the children by name and they take the extra time to explain each step of anything they are doing while working on their teeth. They also to a great job working quickly so the children aren't sitting in the dental chair too long. They truly have group of very patient, kind, and helpful people in this office. read more

Funny how all of these "reviews" have one thing in common: billing issues. It's not the office's job for your financial troubles. Dr. Mickey is the best pediatric dentist in the area and his newly hired staff is just as great. The women of the office, both the hygienists and receptionists are warm and welcoming and it is clear that they love what they do. It is unfortunate to read such horrible reviews by people who are clearly bitter about money. The care here is outstanding. I really wouldn't take my children anywhere else, and I'll be sad to leave when they are no longer of age to be patients! read more

My son is 9 and has been going to Dr Mickey since he was 3! We love this office. All the hygienists are professional and great with my son. When he was smaller, he was very afraid to get X-rays ( the little white things they put in to see between your teeth) but they helped him by gently coaxing and letting me go with him. Last but not least, who doesn't LOVE Dr Mickey ? He is so great with the kids and always has great stories. He did such a great job when my son had to have a tooth pulled.... I have 4 boys from ages 5 to 15. I have been going to Dr.Mickey from the day my kids teeth started coming in. The place has been abosolutely great. Everyone there is professional and courteous. My kids are not afraid of going there ( things have changed for the better since I was a kid !) They make my kids feel good and secure. That in itself deserves 5 stars! When I take my 6 and 7 year old kids there , they are not afraid or worried about going , it speaks volumes to their professionalism and sensitivity to the kids needs. My kids have been going to Dr Mickey's office since they were toddlers and we have been very pleased. Both my son (age 10) and daughter (7) have trusted that they would be listened to and that procedures would explained. Neither are good at dealing with pain, yet both have reported that any physical discomfort from procedures has been minimized. My son had his very first visit and we couldn't have been happier with the staff! They were so pleasant and provided us with answers to all our questions as well as information on how to make sure our little guy's teeth stay clean and cavity free! The office is so clean and happy! I love this office and all of the staff. Absolutely no complaints. Dr. Mickey himself is patient, kind and SO unbelievably good with the kids. My son is 4 and just had a cavity filled and he was so amazing my son laughed and had as good of a time as you can get having such a procedure done. I have tried three other pedi dentists for my children and i will never have to look elsewhere now that i have found this practice. read more
