I have been coming here for blowouts since I moved in October. I HAD beautiful long thick hair and it's a pain to wash/straighten myself. The blowouts were always sub par and usually looked worse then when I did it myself but it was convenient so I used them. This time I came in for a consultation about a grey hair color, with dark brown on top. I have chestnutty brown hair and I told her I hated the red tones in m hair, showed her the exact picture and asked if it was possible. To get my grey highlights I was worried about the bleach not lifting enough. I was assured she could do it and even that day! Pleased I sat in the chair where she proceeded to butcher my hair to pieces! I asked for an end trim without taking length and she took 5 Inches!!!!! It literally looks like the chopped pieces out. Determined to remain optimistic I assured myself that my needed it anyway and it looked healthier. She left the 40 volume on 35 min and told me my hair wasn't lifting enough and to "pray to the hair gods" and that no way will my hair get light enough to go the color I wanted and I'd have to come in again in a month. Freaking out now but determined to remain polite I told her to do her best. Needless to say I left with the same hair color I started with, even the roots weren't much darker how I wanted, and the highlights aren't visible at all. I was still made to pay 220$!!!!!!! So I paid that money to lose inches of my gorgeous hair and not a noticeable color change except now my bleached ends r fried because she didn't put the conditioning oil in. Never try a walk-in. Absolutely the worst possible service imaginable. First they say it will be 15-20min wait. 30mins later I'm still sitting there and have to ask the front desk when I'll be seen. Of course they make it seem like they can't believe I haven't been sat yet, immediately ask around, and come back apologetically saying another 15mins. They also offer to send me 5mins down the road to some other place, but I waited. 15mins later and no sign of being sat... no thanks. Thanks for wasting 45mins of my day. Next time tell your customers walk-ins are not welcome, call ahead. read more

I came here after going to the Bubbles in Herndon and walking out of there..... I have dyed very dark brown hair and want to go back blonde (gradually). After calling and making a same day/same hour appointment with Lee, I was there for about 4 hours getting a full foil, cut, deep conditioner, etc. Lee was very sweet and listened to what I wanted to do and was very careful to make sure what she was going to be doing was what I wanted as well. She also asked the manager her thoughts to double check that what she was going to do was good. I am VERY picky with my hair..... I have very fine/thin/slightly damaged hair and Lee took care of me. Didnt try to push products on me after and even gave me a 20% off coupon for my next visit, since going back to blonde is a process. I will be back for sure. Thanks Lee!! read more

When I went here, MAGGIE was the one to do my hair. She was extremely rude and obnoxious. She was literally yelling at me and was rushing my hair cut. During the blow dry- she was pulling my hair and that's when I told her to stop. Finally, MOON was available and she did a good job on whatever that was left. Got my haircut here with Lynn and she was awesome. She listened to what I wanted and then made suggestions on what she could do. The result is pretty good! My hair is long and thick and she quoted me at $45. I didn't get a shampoo because I had just dyed my hair at home and so I asked if she could make it $40 so my total could be an even $50 (with tip). She was a little taken aback, saying no one had ever asked before. She ended up saying sure, and when I went to check out ended up making my total $35! I was so surprised, but I guess she can only add $10 to the initial cost, not $5. I ended up giving her a $15 tip to make up the difference. Overall, a pretty good experience. I agree with the other review that the waiting room is awkward though. read more

I always have a good experience whenever I come here. I don't have a specific stylist that I use since I only come in once every 6-8 months or so but I've always had really good experiences with each stylist! I usually only get a trim to get rid of the split ends I constantly have and they are always super nice and understanding of what I want! read more

Had a wonderful experience at Bubbles today. After reading the reviews, I made an appointment with Erica for color and highlights. I was so happy with the results! Erica was very professional, observing that I was exhausted and just needed to rest while she transformed my washed out look to one of beautiful color, while placing the highlights in all the right places. I have been a customer at this Bubbles for many years! Kudos to Maggie! She is a fantastic hairdresser! The facility leaves much to be desired! It's old and rundown but we can deal with that! Filth however is not acceptable! I schedule 10am appointment and unfortunately the bathrooms are always disgusting!!They smell and it's very apparent that An evening cleaning was never done. One star isn't even low enough. This place is beyond terrible. My stylist was Nadua and she's a disaster. I wouldn't even call her a stylist. I gave her reference pictures on how I wanted my hair done but she was forcing me to pick a style from 2007 magazines. If she can only cut like pictures from two magazines then I think she needs to certified again. She burned my scalp throughout the whole session. I asked for my hair to be razored but she used scissors instead. The end result was horrifying. I have to go buy a wig just to cover up the mess she did. NEVER GO HERE!! especially if you want your hair done in a certain way. read more

I really think this place is worse than Hair Cuttery. They charge an arm for terrible service. My bill was $150 and took over three long hours! A majority of the women here do not speak English nor do they understand it. I called for an appt with Moon but had to wait an extra 20 mins when I got there. She was able to see me the same day. I wanted all over color, a treatment, and a haircut. I told her I wanted a long bob, showed her a picture on my phone, and with my hands the length I wanted. She applied the color and the shampoo lady shampooed me. I waited about 45 mins before she put in a $35 treatment that she could not explain to me, instead told me to look it up on youtube. She had me waiting for about 40 mins more while she cut and styled someone else's hair. Finally she started to cut my hair and before I knew it she had chopped off a considerable amount where I was left with chin length hair. The cut she gave me was horrible!!! I was mortified and asked for some layers because it had no style and was a blunt ugly too short bob. I can't believe I paid $150 for an ugly short bob, treatment, and color! She did not even walk me to the front to check me out instead she started working on another person. She needs to go back to beauty school. I will never step foot in here again. I walked in today expecting just another hair experience where I leave feeling as if it was so-so, or to find my hair uneven again from previous salons. I was pleasantly surprised to sit in Stacey's chair. Right away she assured me she would fix my "Billy Ray Cyrus Mullet" (not the intended hair cut, just the screw up I was given) and she made me feel at ease. Once the hair cut was complete she made sure I liked it and said we would work with it to get where I want it to be. Stacey gave me back my confidence and for that I am forever grateful! I love this place. Th staff is always friendly, and i never have to wait to be sat in a chair. I've been here 4 times, and have had someone different each time, yet each one has done an awesome job. I've had my hair cut, colored, and had a blowout here, and each time i loved the results. The last time I went was about a week ago. I got partial highlights and upon the hair dresser's recommendation, a dimension color as well, to make it look more natural and such. I loved the end result. I also asked for a trim and she did an amazing job on that too. She gave me her card at the end of the appt. (her name was Evian) and i'm definitely going to be keeping it. The next day at work I was asked where I got my hair done by a fellow employee, as she was looking to get blonde high lights as well, and i recommended going to bubbles. My hair was done nicer before I walked in for my wedding updo: This past weekend the bridal party was booked for approximately 14 appointments for the complete bridal party and wedding guests from 10am - 12pm noon. 5 of us were booked for a specific later time and then called in early by the shop and told they were ready to begin on us early. Excited to be able to get done early, we arrived within 10 minutes of the call only to wait another 45 minutes before the work was begun. And we still left at the time we originally had planned our appointments would have ended to leave for the wedding. They took more of our time than allowing us more time. Hairdresser: The hairdresser was a very nice woman, and I tipped her for her service because I am a lady and I pay for services as I know they make their living this way. However, annoyingly, during the entire time, my hair was being worked on, my hairdresser was being distracted by her daughter who relentlessly and obsessively complained about her hair cut an inch from waist long hair by her mother and it was now messed up. Perhaps that is the simple explanation as to why my hair dresser was distracted while working on mine and had no time to ask how I liked what she was doing. I fully understood my hair wasn't going to be fixed as her daughter was the obvious priority fix just to stop her whining. Charges for Service: I received no breakdown or explanation of charges for $55.00, just a credit card receipt for $55.00 for hair spray and curls pinned up in back with 4 bobby pins. Upon comparison others paid less for same styling of hair and had more services such as a blow dry. So there were inconsistent charges for same styling of hair and lengths unless they were charging by bobby pins? I did wonder why the first thing that my hairdresser did was blow dry the back of my hair when I had just left the hotel and had showered, blow dried my hair and had put it up in hot curlers before I arrived, so why was she blowing my hair again? How would I know what I was charged for, I received no breakdown of services as others had. We only compared costs at the wedding reception when we were asking each other if they liked their hairdos. And I have to say, anyone I asked, was not pleased either. Hairstyle: I was not pleased at all with the hair do I walked out with. There was no time to ask for a redo, as we would have been late for the wedding if we did and I don't think I would have gotten one, with a whining daughter wanting my chair. I had requested a soft style with some pulled back pin up and received curly curls that never straightened out as I was told they would as the time of the wedding drew closer. So I looked like a middle aged woman with Shirley Temple shoulder length curls. My hair pulled across the front and pinned came apart before the wedding pictures and was hanging in my face the entire time pictures were being taken. Satisfaction: WOULD I USE THIS SHOP AGAIN? Sorry, NO, not from my experience. We did not get upset, as there was no time at this point to complain and make changes, so we just left taking pictures laughing at our outrageous hairdos we actually paid for and tipped also. Hopefully this shop owner will do better for others, as I pointed out areas that can be easily improved. read more

I'll start by saying that I rather naively did not have high expectations from a chain hair salon, but am proud to say that I am a loyal regular of Bubbles in Gainesville, and "my" stylist is Monique. She is very professional and always takes the time to listen to what I want done and makes very helpful suggestions for home care. Just like finding a doctor, dentist, or daycare, its hard to find a good hair stylist. I recommend going and asking for Monique, or speaking with any of the other seemingly skilled beauticians on hand. I've seen many beautiful hair styles while visiting for my own appointment. read more

I was not impressed with the cuts I received here, either time. The most recent time (granted it was 4 months ago) was what really drove me away from here. I came in for a bang and neck trim before I went out of town for the holidays as I was trying to grow out a pixie cut and it was getting a little unruly. The girl who did my hair (dressed very masculine, petite frame, brown hair) spoke very softly and I almost couldn't hear her half the time, asked me weird questions, and totally butchered my hair. I explained that I was growing it out, and I only wanted the very ends of the back trimmed so it was nice and tidy. She proceeded to trim all the way up the back of my hair, so it was sort of layered, and left the sides long. She didn't ask if I was happy with my cut, just wished me a happy holiday. She sortof hung around the check out desk, and I wondered if she was checking how much of a tip I was leaving her. I paid $40 to be unhappy with my cut. I left a $5 tip because it was the holidays and I wasn't totally going to stiff her because they did fit me in last minute, but my hair has only just now caught up and grown in so it looks decent. LOVE this salon! I called the night before to make an appointment at this Bubbles and they fit me in the next morning no problem. I had been to one of their other salons, so I figured this would be a good place to go. My stylist was awesome, although she didn't quite get the color right the first time. I called back a few minutes after leaving to see if I could come back the next day and have it lightened more, and because she was so awesome, she came in on her day off for me. The second day, she nailed the color and it was exactly what I wanted. On top of that, she didn't charge me the full price of re-doing highlights, only the price of a haircut, in addition to giving me a free deep conditioning treatment and flat ironing it at no cost. Although it did take me two days to get the result I wanted, I loved the way it turned out and the staff was awesome about the pricing and making it right. Would definitely recommend!! read more
