While visiting family in SoCal in June and July of this year, one of my nephews was raving about Buc-ee's and how great the store was. He had just returned from a road trip to Texas with his wife and kids and had turned his home into a Buc-ee's shrine, with water bottles, t-shirts, lots of snacks with Buc-ee's plastered on the packaging, stuffed animals, shorts, etc. Yeah, he went overboard with Buc-ee's. After seeing Buc-ee's signs off the interstate during our own road trip from Atlanta to SoCal, I was intrigued and curious. So when I saw the "warning" billboard signs about an upcoming Buc-ee's, I stopped at this one, near Katy. I consider Buc-ee's a convenience store and gas station on super duper steroids. I wasn't quite expecting so many people, a huge and busy parking lot, a wide gas station that had more than 120 gas pumps, an a big retail building. This is definitely a touristy place. We went to use the restroom, which, on the men's side, is big! No waiting for urinals, toilets or sinks. When I exited the restroom and went into the common area, it reminded me of being at the airport at the arrivals area where a lot of people are waiting for whomever they're there to meet. That's what the post-potty meet up area in Buc-ee's is like! Buc-ee's doesn't seem to compete with Target or Walmart, and, to me, it looks like tourists are the main draw. The clothing Buc-ee's sells are, for the most part, clothing that people would either buy and wear during their vacations, or clothing that has Buc-ee (the store mascot) on it. There is a big retail snack area that has Buc-ee's image printed on the packaging. A large self serve beverage bar with sodas, slushies, and coffee, among other drinks draws a lot of customers to this area. One of my favorite places at Buc-ee's is the hot food area. Everything looks good, and I've found that the custom made (you have to ask the employee for this one) sliced beef brisket sandwich without bbq sauce tastes great. It has some marbling which adds to the flavor, and is an easy thing to eat while driving (no, I don't recommend eating while driving, but we all gotta do what we all gotta do). I bought the chopped beef brisket sandwich the first time I went to a Buc-ee's and ate it while driving, but the smaller bits of meat and bbq sauce just found their way to the front of my shirt. R found out that his favorite hot sandwich is the sliced sausage sandwich. The sausage is so flavorful and delicious! As a followup snack after eating these sandwiches, I had bought hot honey glazed pecans that I found under warming lamps in the hot food section, and those disappeared within 20 miles of us opening the bag. In addition, Buc-ee's sells tacos, wraps, chicken tenders, burritos, other types of sandwiches, and snacks and sweets. Don't expect vegan or vegetarian here. Oh, and Buc-ee's has good prices on almost everything they sell. I was actually impressed by some of the things at Buc-ee's, but I draw the line at buying any clothing or merchandise with Buc-ee on it. read more

Clean restrooms? Hot eats? All the snacks and cold drinks you can imagine? How can you *not* like Buc-ee's?? Oh yeah, don't forget that it's a gas station to fill up! And Texan souvenirs if you're into that too~ I literally brought my parents to Buc-ee's as tourist destination and they loved it. Plenty of parking if you're willing to walk more than 10 seconds. Actually pretty good value for your buck. Only downside? It's super Texan (i.e. most people don't believe in masks during this pandemic). There's cheap gas, clean bathrooms, freshly made food, any drink and snacks under the sun, buc-ee's merch, the list goes on. Literally, when my family from out of town visited this location, they were BLOWN AWAY. It was the highlight of their vacation in Texas. I kid you not, this was their favorite thing, and would come back to visit Buc-ee's. And it is worth mentioning, this location has the LARGEST CARWASH IN NORTH AMERICA (maybe the world??) My buddy told me I had to stop by a Buc-ee's while in Texas. I saw this one off the highway and went inside. Holy Jesus! You have to see one to believe one! It had like 50 gas pumps outside, and was the size of a damn Walmart on the inside. Shoot, the bathroom had like 40 urinals (no, I am not exaggerating)! 9 different flavors of Icees, every kind of drink you could imagine, legit bakery, bbq sandwiches, jerky, brittles etc. This place has everything you can think of, and then some! This is a smaller and much more chaotic version of the New Braunfels Buc-ee's. Although it's very crowded, the bathrooms are pretty clean.

I'm not sure of what else a gas station might need that you can't already find at Bucee's. The service is great, the food is delicious. Overpriced, but delicious. The candies and snacks and whatever else you might need for a road trip or movie night can be found here. They've got clean bathrooms and their staff is extremely friendly. I don't think I've ever had a bad encounter here. They only get a four star because of their prices. read more

Buc-ee's is always a welcome sight on road trips, especially when a fill-up on gas is needed. There were plenty of gas pumps open on a weekday morning, eliminating any need to wait. The store is smaller than the Buc-ee's location I've visited previously, but it looked like there was about the same selection of merchandise available for purchase. The one difference I did notice when walking into the store was the long checkout line. The store itself didn't seem to be too crowded and had two cashiers manning the registers. Restrooms are clean & spacious but just a little bit dated. Stalls line the walls, with a communal island of sinks in the middle of the stalls. Courtesy lights are above each stall and add the convenience of knowing whether is stall is occupied. Outside the store, the famous Buc-ee's statue welcomes all customers inside with open arms. It's always nice to check out Buc-ee's locations, especially since it reminds me of the beloved Wawas along the East Coast. read more

On our way out then I noticed a whole section outside for car wash. They had 4th of July shirts near the entrance. We walked in for a quick restroom break and decided to get a light snack for the road. As we strolled by the endless options of treats, we decided to meander over to the jerky area. That's when a cheerful, outgoing employee greeted us with a huge smile and sample of smoked meat. He was extremely welcoming and pleased to give us a taste of all the "best sellers" along with a brief history of where the jerky is made and a recommendation of his personal favorites. Much to our surprise, this man had not only a jovial spirit but a very funny sense of humor. A huge shout out to Mr. Paul Tyler, who is obviously passionate about his job and extremely personable. It was a pleasure to have crossed paths with a friendly smile, a warm welcome and a good chuckle. Not to mention, the hot and spicy jerky was the best we've ever had! Definitely worth a try! We spent the rest of our drive chatting about how nice it must be to be a business owner or manager with employees who genuinely care about what they do! I've dreamt of coming here, especially to this exact location to see what all the hype is about... and low and behold, we were invited to a beautiful weeklong wedding ceremony in Richmond, yay! So during our downtime from the wedding festivities, we hopped over to this location to see what they had to offer and honestly, I wasn't disappointed one bit. Once we parked and walked in, cashiers greeted us excitedly into the premises and the scents of food was everywhere. I knew where my calling was and I was certain to kick it off of my bucket list... the famous beef brisket I've heard all about. The brisket that I've been hearing of from all those lucky YouTubers who have travelled far and wide to experience this famous and tender delicacy. I had to have it. So I went straight to the brisket chefs and would hear the calling... "fresh brisket on the grill!" Or something like that, I don't remember... I was already in a trance searching for the exact flavor... which I didn't find on hand under their warmers. So I asked this really nice lady behind the counter... excuse me, do you have any brisket without the BBQ sauce? Sorry folks, but I want mine "au natural". And she happily said yes! A few minutes later I had the valuable goods in my hand and confidently walked around some more to find goods such as Buc-ee's clothing, mugs, and their own snacks and drinks... wow. I grabbed an energy drink and took my brisket and gathered the wife and kids... to a few pounds of brisket. We ate so much brisket I can still see each piece with my eyes closed. Wow, just wow. So tender, smoky, and "delectable" is an understatement. Conclusion... if you're ever in town, you've got to try this place. We stopped by again about three more times before we flew back home and another food item I suggest is the brisket burrito, my goodness. I'll go ahead and add another 5-star review for this Buc-ees! Hands down the best one in the Houston area. It's large, spacious, shelves consistently stocked, and always busy! Everyone enjoys using clean restrooms, and Buc-ees has that for their customers. They offer your normal convenient store items, along with BBQ, fudge, a lot of snacks such as trail mix, jerky, candies, chips, the infamous beaver nuggets, and the list continues. They also have home decor, clothing, and of course, souvenirs! Their food and snacks are very reasonably priced. Same goes for their gas at their many pumps. As a Texas native, I've never had any complaints about Buc-ees. Always striving to please their customers, they treat their staff very well, and I hope the success continues for many more years to come! read more

This is my experience from this Katy Bucees location. The pay rate may be high but this employment work area is terrible and disgusting. The store is cutting hours it use to be 40 hours a week and now it's 35 hours or less... it's like they want the employees to quit. The assistant managers are very rude and treat the other employees very terribly especially El*******. I was using the restroom and I saw an employee name Am* not washing her hands leaving the restroom multiple times. (works in the fudge area) The employee Ar***** doesn't do her job especially what she is assigned to do she just wonders around the job to burn time, she's doesn't treat her other employees equally she treats others like dirt, when she does decide to do her job she doesn't do it right and she's lazy about it. From the time we arrived in Texas, several people had asked have you been to Buc-ees yet. Seriously what is a Buc-ees? Seeing the billboards we had to stop and check it out. Wow!! I could not believe finding everything in one place. Really who stops for gas and spends over a hour inside? We did! Gas,food,car wash, gift shopping, fresh bakery, hot right out of the oven brisket, roasting pecans and more on tap sodas that I could count. We gassed up the truck, went inside and came out with lunch, bbq pork, brisket, homemade chips, soda, and homemade fudge for dessert. So glad we had the RV to sit in and enjoy. Mouthwatering!! Buc-ees has become a mandatory stop for us. First of all, this specific location is an hour from our house and is a perfect place for us to stop on our way to Austin from League City. When we drive to Austin, I'm typically doing it in the morning which means I have already had at least two cups of coffee. I'm stopping to pee an hour into my trip so this location is perfect. The stalls are numerous and they keep them spotless. Pardon the pun, but the bathrooms truly are the #1 (or #2) reason why people stop at Buc-ees. When you stop, don't be shocked that there will be another 500 people there with you and yet there is still no line for the bathroom. Crazy I know but it's true. Here is a short list of all the other reasons why you should stop: cheap ice, jerky, snacks, sweets, BBQ, full deli, beaver nuggets, iced drinks, coffee, hot drinks, souvenirs, cow pictures, cast iron, fire pits, deer corn, beaver clothing, beaver stickers, Rtic products, shabby chic stuff, etc. Even if I haven't mentioned it yet, they probably have it. I haven't even mentioned the fuel and carwash yet. This location has 120 gas pumps. Yes, I said 120 gas pumps. That is not a typo. They also have the Guinness World Record for the longest tunnel car wash. Bottom line - If you've never stopped at a Buc-ees, then you should. Super clean bathrooms and 120 pumps should be reason enough but the other lists of reasons is what makes Buc-ees legendary. read more

As far as the goods are concerned I was left in awe. I got so many souvenirs. They even sell steaks, sausages and chicken all vacuum sealed and/or frozen making it awesome for traveling. I did splurge and bought some sausage. My absolute favorite though was the bohemian garlic jerky. Wish I'd have bought more than one package.
