Last February, I decided I was finally going to pop the question. My girlfriend and I had been dating for over 3 years, so I was overdue. By now, I knew exactly what my girlfriend wanted. She did not want a traditional diamond engagement ring - she wanted a cushion-cut sapphire in a halo design. I knew this was nothing I was going to be able to purchase pre-made anywhere, and I would have to get the ring custom designed. I have lived in Conshohocken for 3 years, and I am the kind of person that prefers patronizing local businesses versus the big chains whenever possible. I did some research and Joe Bucci was a couple minutes from my house. His reviews seemed solid, so I found a few photos of rings I found that were similar to what I wanted and drove over to his business. This was more of a research field trip - a fact finding mission, if you will - than a purchase trip. I'll start off by saying Joe Bucci is a character. If you are expecting a jeweler wearing a suit with a wait staff, you've come to the wrong place. This is as laid back and comfortable as it gets. Joe is very direct. I come from a family of stereotypical South Jersey Italians, and Joe would fit right in. The first thing Joe asked was what kind of diamond she wanted. I told her she wanted a sapphire. "Great! Even cheaper!" he said. I showed him some pictures of what I was looking for, but none of the pictures were exact. I had to explain the tweaks. He asked me what kind of cut and weight I was looking for along with my budget, and told me he'd order some stones in for me over the next couple days. I had nothing to lose, so I gave him my number and he would text me when they came in. A couple days later he shot me a text and I swung by after work. He had four very nice, symmetrical, cushion-cut sapphires for me to look at, all slightly over 2ct weight, which was just what I was looking for. I was torn between two gems, both about the same weight. The second stone was darker than the first, which looked more appealing but came at a higher price tag. He recommend I don't spend the extra money because once the ring would be set, it would become darker due to the lack of light diffusion, and the darker stone would actually shine less. I was still a little iffy. Joe told me this: "I know what you want. You can trust me and I'll make it for you, and if it isn't right don't buy it." I said you know what, go for it. The stone I chose was a 2.04ct sapphire, a perfect cornflower blue. Corundum, the material that makes a sapphire, is inherently flawed. Looking at it under magnification like you would a diamond is pointless. Still, even under magnification, this gem was nearly perfect. I told Joe to take his time making the ring because we were going on vacation the next week. Fast forward after the vacation and it was complete. The ring was exactly what I was looking for. No, it was better than what I was looking for. We came in a couple hundred under budget, too. As for her? Well, first she was completely speechless. Then, she completely flipped. She never expected anything so nice, and according to her, the ring was above and beyond anything she had ever wanted. She loved it so much we both went to visit Joe again and she went on and on for at least an hour thanking him up and down. It couldn't have been more perfect. How can I give the man less than 5 stars? I'd give him 6 if I could for making her so happy, and going easier on my wallet than I had asked. I hit a grand slam with Joe right off the bat and I didn't even need to shop around. My last name is Bucci, too. However, we're not sure we're related. If Joe and I have a common ancestor in Italy, that connection is - thus far - unknown to us. At any rate, let me start from the beginning here: some 15 years ago I decided to investigate all things Bucci on the web. From musicians, artists, writers, and photographers, to chefs, stockbrokers, and attorneys ... a myriad of Buccis popped up in my search. Then I came across Bucci Jewelers and Joe Bucci, in particular. I quickly learned he not only sold jewelry, but also designed and made some absolutely gorgeous pieces, too. I was intrigued. After watching his beautiful handiwork on their website for years, I decided if I ever needed a ring in the future I was going to visit Joe and have him design a ring for me. That day came this month. My wife Sarah and I were married in the fall of 2021 (a year ahead of schedule), and we flew from central Illinois to Pennsylvania in early March 2022 to design a wedding ring with Joe. We really appreciated his candor, humor, knowledge, and sheer talent as he guided us through his creative process. Long story short, the ring arrived this morning - and I have to tell you - this is not just a ring. It's artwork. It's gorgeous. We can't stop staring at it. It seriously looks like it belongs in a museum exhibit for some royal family, somewhere. It's completely and totally stunning. I have always been proud of my last name, but when I see "Bucci" stamped into the platinum, inside the band, it makes me even prouder. I was referred here by a work colleague and friend. I couldn't be happier with my experience with Joe and the whole team at Bucci Jewelers. I started my engagement ring search with Joe. He went through and educated me on the elements of a fine diamond (color, clarity, symmetry, cut, polish etc) which was very helpful. One thing that stands out about Bucci's is that they sell lower quality diamonds. Primarily Joe only sells diamonds that are SI1, I color, no fluorescence and above. He also prefers triple excellents, which seems like no big deal, but its a major help because it eliminates all of the poor quality, so you're left with only superior diamonds to choose from instead of playing the "well if I lower the quality, I can increase the size of the diamond game". Joe showed me a 1.71 carat, round diamond that was absolutely amazing. He then encouraged me to go out and shop around with other jewelers. So I did just that. I went down to Jewelers row in Philly to several places recommended by family friends, pursued other recommended avenues and really did a thorough search of other diamonds for several weeks. Needless to day, I also ended my search for a diamond with Joe. What I found was that not only was Joe's quality of diamond superior (clarity,color etc), his cost was lower and most importantly, the brilliance, shine and "look" of his diamond was heads above the competition. I would recommend Bucci's for anyone looking for an engagement ring (simply because this is what I used them for). They're honest, straightforward and overall good people that work there. I can't say enough good things about Bucci's Jewelry & Design! I did a lot of research and and a lot of shopping around both locally (all over jewelers row in Philly) and at a jeweler in St. Maarten that I have been using for years. I was searching for a very specific diamond and wanted a custom made engagement ring. Several friends of mine had strongly recommended that I go to Joe Bucci for my engagement ring. Boy were they right! Not only was Joe able to locate diamonds with the exact specifications that no other jewelers were able to locate in my price range, but the quality AND price of his diamonds were MUCH better than any one else. Hands down... Joe and his team have earned every bit of credit that is due. Their professionalism is top-tier, the quality of their work is uncontested, and their service is so personal - all of which make the entire experience the best I could have asked for! I live in Hong Kong and recently purchased an engagement ring for my, now, fiancé. I couldn't be more happy and impressed with the custom work that Joe and his team did.. Joe Bucci was extremely accommodating throughout the entire engagement ring shopping process. I initially was planning to buy a diamond online, but I also wanted to see some diamonds in person to get an idea of what I wanted. I ended up going to 5 retailers. Bucci was very direct with his pricing, gave a quick rundown of the 4Cs and where I want to be, and basically told me to go shop his prices at other stores to make sure I was comfortable. I had a ton of questions from my research, and Joe never hesitated to provide straight forward answers. I gave Joe an idea of what I wanted to get and the price range I wanted to stay in. He would contact me by cell phone periodically and let me know when some diamonds in my range were in store. Everything Joe showed me was beautiful. Once I had a specific diamond picked out, Joe held it for over 2 weeks while I continued to shop around, but I couldn't find a better price online or in other stores. I even went to a family friend in the jewelry business, and they told me to go back and buy that diamond. A week later, I had my custom made engagement ring in hand, original GIA certification, and appraisal. My fiance gets compliments on her ring constantly, and Joe cleans it periodically free of charge. When I contacted Bucci's Jewelry & Design I worked with Joe Bucci directly. I was looking for an engagement ring for my now fiancé. After working with Joe and contacting him I quickly became aware of why he came so highly recommended- the personal attention, attention to detail, and the quick and prompt replies to my requests were quickly noticed, and greatly appreciated. I was a little concerned at first because Joe is located on the East Coast and I live in Colorado. I wanted to make sure that we could design the type of ring that my then girlfriend had described as being ideal. AMAZING! I grew up in the Philadelphia area and am currently living in NYC. When I was getting ready to propose, I began shopping around for the perfect engagement ring - I went everywhere! I went to Cartier, Tiffany, and almost every designer in the diamond district in NYC. After seeing hundreds of different options, I ultimately decided that I wanted to design the ring myself and have it completely customized. I had privately met with a number of different designers in NYC. Not one of them spent the time with me to go over each detail and minute intricacy compared to the staff at Bucci's Jewelery and Design. Joe Bucci was incredible! He allowed me to be involved in every step along the way - from design to fabrication. And, I mean it when I say that no detail was left unnoticed.
