I nearly died of excitement, went on Pinterest, found a picture of my dream ring and sent it to him. We never talked about it again - until the day he proposed! I later found out that Kevin took that one photo to John and they both worked on custom designing it together. I was in awe when I saw it because it was a way better version of the ring I showed Kevin. John also took the time to explain cut, clarity and color to Kevin. This has made Kevin an expert when it comes to evaluating other peoples' rings because we know that we got the best of the best :) Kevin and I went to the shop together because I had to get my ring resized. I walked through the door and immediately felt like I was part of the family. I was welcomed with such warmth and happiness. I was just in between sizes and John was kind enough to recommend two sizing beads which allowed the diamond to fall perfectly on my finger. In early January, I took a gold watch bracelet to them to have two links made to lengthen the bracelet. While in their possession, I inquired almost weekly for an update on an estimate for cost and time needed to perform the work but never received it. After about two months of waiting, I decided I'd take it back and have someone else work on it. When I went to pick it up, Sonya the store manager, handed it back to me in pieces. I started putting it back together when I noticed there were pieces missing. Had I not checked, Sonya would have let me leave the store with it in that condition. After pointing out the missing pieces, she said she would look for the missing parts and have it ready the next week. So I came back the next week and the bracelet wasn't there. I wasted my time going to the store when they could have called me to let me know it wasn't there. I was told to come back again the following week. I came back the next week and when I inspected the bracelet again, I found that it was again missing parts, but now it had been damaged. It looked like one or possibly more of the links had been hit with a hammer. How they managed to damage it so badly I have no idea. The parts damaged shouldn't have even been handled at all. I'm now waiting for Sonya to again resolve this but at this point, this watch bracelet is likely a loss and will need to be claimed as such by their business insurance. The cost is almost irrelevant though as this bracelet is irreplaceable. Don't take your valuables to Best Jewelers because they may end up like mine - ruined.

So, she asked me to go with to help her pick out a little something for herself. When we arrived, we were greeted by the super polite and un-snotty staff. When we started oohing and ahhing at everything in the place- the ladies asked us to let them know if we wanted to look at anything. So we asked them to break out practically every velvet tray in the place. And, as they educated us on different gems and metals, they explained that everything could be sized. It was then that I saw one of the rings smile at me. It was gorgeous--Ruby and Platinum, like nothing I had ever seen. (My birthstone is Ruby and I have always admired them- but they always seem to be set in cheesy yellow gold at Zales and such) not this one. So anyway, flash-forward.... my Mom leaves with a beautiful engraved gold ring, and I leave dreaming about the ruby ring that I had just seen. Flash forward one month later... 2 days before my 40th Birthday, a week and a day after our four year wedding anniversary, and last but not least... a week after giving birth to our first child... They're quite old, and I was worried about where to take them as they are precious to me. I took them to the right place!! The ring has multiple opals, one of which is broken. I knew sizing that up was going to be tricky. Opals are soft and will break easily. Any time you size you have to worry about loosening stones. They gave me the option to do the sizing first and see how the broken opal held up. I was knocked out with how fast everything was done, and to have my grandmother's ring on my finger is priceless to me. Very friendly and assuring gentlemen here who obviously know exactly what they are doing. If you need a jeweler, I highly recommend Chiccarines. I will definitely be going back.

Heartbroken! I lost my beautiful .48 diamond out of my 29 year old engagement ring. It ripped…read morecompletely out of the setting crown and all when I was digging out bushes. Damn bushes!!! This ring has been through hell and back over the years. The side chip used to be a ruby, that fell out and has been replaced with an amethyst now a third time! My one amethyst shattered and the other one sheared off at the sides. The band has been broken at least three times. Chiccarine's is my go to jewelry store for repairs. They assisted me in strengthening the band of my wedding set and even resized it. I'm a size 4.75 and I've never been a size 4 in ANYTHING! To replace the diamond with a mediocre diamond about the same size I believe it was in the neighborhood of around 1500+ the 300 for a whole new crown. I could have gotten an imitation diamond, known as moisonite for around 500. Mike showed me an example of it, it was beautiful but I opted for a natural garnet. I asked Mike about changing the cut into a heart shape. At first he didn't think it would work then he suggested to put the heart on its side. Genius!! The price to get a new crown, garnet and have the amethyst replaced was under 200$ and that's about what I wanted to invest. It was helpful because he had a heart shaped garnet so I could see what the ring might look like.
