They're quite old, and I was worried about where to take them as they are precious to me. I took them to the right place!! The ring has multiple opals, one of which is broken. I knew sizing that up was going to be tricky. Opals are soft and will break easily. Any time you size you have to worry about loosening stones. They gave me the option to do the sizing first and see how the broken opal held up. I was knocked out with how fast everything was done, and to have my grandmother's ring on my finger is priceless to me. Very friendly and assuring gentlemen here who obviously know exactly what they are doing. If you need a jeweler, I highly recommend Chiccarines. I will definitely be going back.

This ring has been through hell and back over the years. The side chip used to be a ruby, that fell out and has been replaced with an amethyst now a third time! My one amethyst shattered and the other one sheared off at the sides. The band has been broken at least three times. Chiccarine's is my go to jewelry store for repairs. They assisted me in strengthening the band of my wedding set and even resized it. I'm a size 4.75 and I've never been a size 4 in ANYTHING! To replace the diamond with a mediocre diamond about the same size I believe it was in the neighborhood of around 1500+ the 300 for a whole new crown. I could have gotten an imitation diamond, known as moisonite for around 500. Mike showed me an example of it, it was beautiful but I opted for a natural garnet. I asked Mike about changing the cut into a heart shape. At first he didn't think it would work then he suggested to put the heart on its side. Genius!! The price to get a new crown, garnet and have the amethyst replaced was under 200$ and that's about what I wanted to invest. It was helpful because he had a heart shaped garnet so I could see what the ring might look like. I nearly died of excitement, went on Pinterest, found a picture of my dream ring and sent it to him. We never talked about it again - until the day he proposed! I later found out that Kevin took that one photo to John and they both worked on custom designing it together. I trusted them. I explained the event & asked if it could be repaired, & they said yes. I think I was notified after a week that the chain was repaired & ready for pick-up. On 10/08/2025, I picked up the repaired chain, paid $58.30 & stowed it away until I wore it to church this week. So I went back to Tests's with my receipt & chain. I showed them the loop on the chain with a snag, that I felt, & asked why the snag. I thought it was repaired? The woman working, took out a loop to show me that the work repaired was not at the snagged loop. I could not see it. I am not a jeweler. I asked her, "Why would the JEWELER not notice that loop?" All she could say is that is not where the repair was made! I asked her," why was that not noticed by the jeweler- the professional & repaired too?" I got NO satisfaction! I really wanted to show others in the shop how dissatisfied I was, but instead I felt my frustration would be better exhibited on this forum! I will never go to Testa's again!
