They showed up on time. Very nice driver. It turned out that my rental car was ready. It was late at night and the rental car people we're not supposed to be working at that hour. I paid the wonderful gentleman at Buckhorn who had to come to the airport at eleven o'clock at night to pick us up. Big Mercedes van. Very nice. First time in Durango, but I've been places like this before. "like this" means if you're accustomed to travel and life in more urban areas don't expect everything to work the same in fly-over country. After all that's why you come to a small town like this anyway, right? Advance intel said the airport isn't JFK or O'Hare, which it turns out to be an understatement. It's not an easy thing getting to town out here so either rent or arrange a ride. A taxi or uber? you're better off waiting for Godot to pick you up. Having checked reviews as well as informal calls to various travel related businesses, I found Buck Horn is hands down the best in this. In fact, they correspond quickly to questions and re-confirmations that your ride will be there when you are. But in the end I had a cousin who showed up sooner than expected and I had to cancel a few hours before my scheduled arrival. This was no problem, and I much appreciate the flexibility. Flexible, Professional, Efficient, and Easy to Work With Had a group of 16 visiting from outside the country. Needed airport transfers and local large group transport around the area for 3 days. This was a work related event and timing and professionalism was a very important component where Tanya and the entire staff of Buck Horn did a fantastic job. Many changes in schedule from flight delays, different numbers of people, impromptu shopping destinations, etc. could have created problems, but Buck Horn is easy to coordinate things via email or a phone call. Saturday January 7th we had a flight cancellation that dropped us off at the Durango airport in the middle of the night instead of a direct flight to Montrose with an afternoon arrival. Not to mention American lost my snowboard. Buck Horn were able to accomodate my last minute, three hour drive request to Telluride with the most professional dirver in a snowstorm. When our VRBO we rented for the week had passcode issues at one in the morning, he went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of. We decided to use Buck Horn to transport our car from Durango to Silverton while we took the train one-way. I emailed and inquired about the date and time, and was told it would be no problem. Tanya, the office manager, gave us very clear instructions and I was able to communicate with her and our driver (Dave) very easily. We left our car at 8am in Durango and picked it up in Silverton at 12:30pm. I got a friendly update from Dave when he had successfully delivered our car, and he wished us happy travels. Honestly, I don't have a single complaint - the whole experience was seamless and wonderful! I'll definitely use them again if I ever find myself traveling the same route! :) read more
