If I could, I would have given them zero . This place is very sketchy and unprofessional. It's all about money for them. I came in for a root canal and I had insurance well months later in my root canal became very achy where an infection was found. The pain unbearable and I went back to elegant Smilez and they removed my permanent crown and cleaned out the root canal and put a temporary crown in place, but they charge me for an entire new root canal, which is all documented with my insurance. So they proceed to send me to a specialist and I called the specialist and it will be $300 for me to see a specialist. As the months moved on, I became laid off in my job and no longer had insurance so I sacrifice just wearing my temporary crown until that came out just recently and now I have tried to call elegant smiles to see how they can help me because I just went to another dental office who have let me know that I have an infection in my root canal wasn't done properly. So I just called elegant Smilez and they informed me that the Doctor Who did my root canal she's no longer in the office and begin to charge me a new patient $199 fee. I talk to one of the medical doctors on Wednesday Sept 17, put advised me that he would help me and would call back... well he refused to call back and I gave him all day Thursday to call me back and he didn't so I proceeded to call Friday, September 19 and all day my calls were forwarded to a fax line.. I tried calling them a few times Monday, September 22. The phone rang no answer. I tried again Tuesday, September 23. The phone rang no answer. Today is September 24 and I have tried again to contact them and again the phone rang and they continue to send me to a fax machine. These guys know the mistakes that they have made, and they refuse to help me. I have tried to give them a few times to work with me before I escalate the situation to social media and a medical attorney. I am sitting here now with the infection in my tooth#30 which is all documented by another dentist that I went to last week. I would not recommend this place. They are very sketchy with Business. I wouldn't trust them with any detailed dental work maybe a cleaning that's about it but they can't be trusted and they don't even care about the health of their previous patients. Avoiding my calls for days at a time and not returning my call is a clear sign that you guys are very sketchy and shouldn't be in business. I have a huge social media following, the media will hear about this. I am a victim in the situation who have given this dentist office several chances to help with the damages that they have created. I understand mistakes happen and accidents happen as well, but to run away and avoid your damages will be more damages$$$$ added :) Today was my last time reaching out to them. This is a place I would not recommend. To start they over charge you. So you end up with never ending credits that they can never remember you have when you go. They are unorganized and scattered. Every time I go it's a different dental hygienist cleaning my teeth. It's a revolving door. The staff does not communicate with each other. The staff doesn't keep up with your payments or provide you with receipts. The last hygienist that cleaned my teeth was rude and didn't even introduce herself. Never said her name once. Today the young lady that fitted my night guard also. Never introduced herself just started talking. The staff has no training. Then today they tried to charge me $200 co pay for a night guard that was paid for in full and a filling that I paid for in full on my last visit. This is unfortunate because I actually like the dentist but will never be going back there again. If I was the dentist I would leave this place ASAP before you have no clients at all to see. read more

Worst experience I've ever had! Would never go back! First of all, I was one of the early appointments and had a chipped tooth. The dentist said I need a crown and I approved. He then went and worked with other patients, after 30 min he came back and I was already there 1.5hrs. When he came back I said we'll have to reschedule for another day to get the tooth prepped and he said just give me 20 min and it will be done. OKAY, fine 20 min will be okay. Once he ground the tooth he left and the assistant put a temp on which immediately came out. She then asked another assistant to help her get a temp on. After a few trial and errors they got one on. I then paid the 800.00 for the crown and left. I live 10 min away and was there for 3hrs. I didn't even make it home and the temp came out. Why was this done by the assistant and not the dentist? Clearly they didn't know what they were doing. I called and they said to come back in, I said I don't have time to do this and I can't be without a tooth so I'd like to go somewhere else. They credited me 160 out of the 800 I paid. Disgusting experience and had to pay the GOOD dentist I switched to another 800 since the tooth wasn't prepped correctly and he was appalled by the fact that the dentist didn't put the temp on. I hate to write a review like this but I am SPEECHLESS .... I came to Elegant Smiles for the first time in February (I told them it was my first dentist appt in 20 years). I had a regular cleaning and then they told me I needed a gum cleaning that cost an extra $100 and then told me I had 14 cavities!!! 14! I have kept good care of my teeth over the years, I was expecting cavities but not 14. They showed me how much they would be with my insurance and it was well over $3,000. My cousin who is in dentistry told me to get a second opinion. I also mentioned their old equipment they use there. So today I went to a new dentist in Decatur I actually have 4 FOUR 4 cavities. That will cost me less than 400$. Elegant Smiles tried to take full advantage of me and I am so happy that I got my second opinion! I hope this helps other people too. read more

I was a hour early and it was lunch time but Dr. Bijal Patel started all procedures all alone while staying communicative with me. She educated me more as well which I do appreciate because it helped me to focus more on my teeth maintenance. Came here looking for a new dentist and saw all of the great reviews and thought why not! Warning don't. Most of these reviews are for a dentist that no longer works there! The outside of this place is so unkept, I honestly don't see how they can run a business inside because it is a hazard. I went inside anyway and had a cleaning and exam. Their equipment is very old and cleaning pick kept shutting off which caused pain to my gums. Quoted me a $5k bill AFTER insurance and I knew this couldn't be right. I went to get a second opinion and didn't need even half of the "work" they said I did and didn't pay over $200. I would advise to go somewhere else with honesty and integrity. I've been going to this practice since three ownerships ago. I arrived for a teeth cleaning and was told I would need to have x-rays as my last x-rays were two years old. Fair enough. However, when I asked how much the x-rays would cost, the hygienist disappeared for 25 minutes. By that time my time was running short. When I asked if I could just get my teeth cleaned and do the x-rays another time, they refused. I never did get a price for the x-rays. I had to walk out. Too bad because I have a crown coming up so they missed out on a much bigger fee than the x-rays. I will not be going back to them. Dr. Hosaka and his staff really went above and beyond for this past weekend. They were able to fit me in for a toothache, that turned into me needing an emergency root canal. They were super accommodating and available even when closed over the weekend, to make sure I had the proper medicine and that I wasn't in pain. Dr. Patel and her staff have been my favorite dental team thus far. I've always had a great experience visiting the office- everything is clean, staff are in PPE, and everyone goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable. I haven't been to the dentist in YEARS, however, I will be going every 6 months (as your supposed to) because of my experience at Elegant Smiles yesterday! When I walked in I felt like I was at home (hints to the cute wall of patients' photos). Miki is the kindess/sweetest receptionist I have ever met. All of my questions and concerns were handled professionally and politely. Ellen, the dental assistant was friendly/funny. While taking my x-rays, she pulled up YouTube and let me listen to one of my favorite singers (Beyoncé). Dr. Ryo was also extremely friendly and informative. Each step, tool and term was explained to me in detail. I'm sure he had a full load of patients that day, but I would've never guessed it due to the personal time he took with me. Sadly, I found out that I had 7 caivities (horrible I know). Dr. Ryo gave me a discount the procedure which showed me that me truly cares about the health of his patients and is not in this profession just for the money! ***Btw, this discount was included with the $25 referral credit I have and the FREE $200 teeth whitening special that new patients receive (not sure when this is ending). I have never experienced as much personal time as this staff gives. In past dental experiences, I felt rushed while being surrounded by thousands of other dental hygienists and patients (exaggeration but you know what I mean). I've been seeing Dr. Ryo for a few years. Have received excellent care and written (earned) glowing reviews. Had an appointment for a cleaning today at 3PM., which I get every 3 or 4 months. This appt. was confirmed yesterday. TODAY, I get a call from the receptionist, Sabrina, who is fairly new; telling me I have a new dentist and hygienist! What??!! Filled out new medical history and they used latex anyway even though I put that I was allergic. It took me a second to figure out why I was having an asthma attack. Who uses latex anymore anyways? This is a group of people who honestly want to help you achieve the best smile possible. They all were extremely knowledgeable in answering any questions I had, and gave me a lot of insight into what things meant so that I could fully understand different terminology that they were using. I went to see Dr. Ryo for x-rays and a routine teeth cleaning after getting a flyer in the mail. My whole life I've been going to dentists who are old enough to be my grandpa and it was a nice change to have one that I could relate to. When I got there, the receptionist offered me coffee, tea, etc. The staff was fun and liked to joke around yet did their job professionally. I guess it's worth noting that some in the office can speak Japanese in case you can't manage English (but I guess you wouldn't be reading this if you can't handle English...). As for the exam, Dr. Ryo did quite a bit of the cleaning himself and didn't just "pop in" to say hi like some dentists do. Instead of giving a lecture and making me feel like I was in the principal's office for not flossing as often as I should, Dr. Ryo explained to me with a diagram why it would probably be in my best interest in the long run to floss now and showed me how I should do it. The actual teeth polishing seemed kind of short, but they used a high powered baking soda kind of spray so I guess it is faster than the spinning wheel with the paste that I've usually gotten. Since it was my first time, in addition to the usual toothbrush/toothpaste, they gave me a goodie bag with a reusable cup and some other stuff with their logo on it. It turns out that Elegant Smiles is a business, not a practice. I received four reminders about my appointment, but not one of them mentioned that Dr. Ryo had left, and there was a new dentist. Dr. Ryo and this new dentist are associates of Dr. Patel, the real owner of Elegant Smiles. I saw Dr.Ryo in November, but he was unable to tell me that he was leaving, because he probably signed a non-compete clause. I'm assuming that they didn't want anyone to know that there was a new dentist, because once you're there, they don't think that you will leave. read more

Dr. Ryo and his team saw me for a dental emergency within an hour of my initial contact and I was in their office until after closing hours. I can't say enough about how friendly and professional everyone in the office was. I found it tremendously useful to make contact via the chat feature on their mobile app-- a live person responded instantly, listened to my symptoms and instructed me to come in. I was in a lot of pain and worried that something extensive needed to be done, but Dr. Ryo was able to find the source of the problem wasn't as bad as I'd suspected-- he took care of it immediately. I'm an American who was visiting the area from where I live in Britain and in a situation where I was essentially stuck with the pain for another week before I could do something back in the UK. I was also in my third trimester of pregnancy and unable to take anything other than Tylenol for pain, which was increasingly not doing the trick. I hadn't slept for two nights and was barely able to eat. The instant relief I was provided was a miracle, as far as I was concerned. I don't carry American dental insurance anymore, so, in addition to the pain and fear that I might have needed a major procedure while pregnant, I also had the cost to think about. I was so relieved, overall, and tremendously thankful to Dr. Ryo and staff for taking care of me for a more than reasonable consult fee. Both my little daughter and I went to him, and we looked forward to going in for out next appointment. I second Brian G.'s comment that he explains everything in detail. This dental practice is just amazing!!! From the first contact the staff was off the charts amazing - Miki and Ashley could not have been more helpful. The appointment process was simple and the front desk staff were just awesome. They checked our dental coverage to let us know all our costs up front and made us appointments for 3 family members immediately. We are "nervous" dental patients and now we are truly FANS of visiting the dentist! Karen and Sarah did amazing cleanings and were both so very very calming and alleviated all our concerns.
