Feel sorry for them. Road totally torn up in front of their place making it hard to find, and hard to park. But once you make effort to get inside, be prepared for some down home hospitality and the most amazing freshly made scones (raspberry and white chocolate found its way onto my plate). Maybe 10-12 tables, very homey like walking into a small town home. Limited menu, but food was great. I had a simple 4 egg scramble with vegetables and bacon, and an amazingly well made and HOT Americano coffee. To get to the counter to order, you've got to walk past the pastry case with all these amazing scones. Good luck getting by without the damages . I made it by coming in, but not going out!! OMG what a delight. I think it took a quarter of the insulin pen to get my blood sugar back to normal ... but so worth it. Don't let the street work keep you away. They open before many of the Main Street Pendleton places open. Support these folks. read more

Owner was friendly and atmosphere was pleasant. They had some alternative milks but no vegan food items. Barista appeared unenthusiastic and served me a watery, flavorless and too-hot mocha in a paper cup. Next time I'd give it a pass. read more

Beautiful spot across from park with parking lot in back. This shop is located in a beautifully maintained older area of Pendleton with large front porches gorgeous gardens and views. The coffee is well roasted and brewed. Low acid and smooth to sip. There are bags available to take home as well. The pastries are fresh and yummy. The quiche is built on a homemade buttery crust. The absolute best place for a home cooked meal. It's conveniently right across a beautiful park. Theirs beautiful houses all around you wished you owned. We went in there the other day and it was very open seating lots of room. What I moved was the large windows you can see the park and part of the window has a small screen window that opens for mourning fresh air to come in. Menu is simple but just enough to get what you need. You can order from breakfast or lunch menu. I had the breakfast burrito as it was absolutely fantastic! Next time I'm getting the BLT sandwich, sounds good to me! read more

Buckin' Bean is a shining star in the Coffee world. Home made food options, amazing scones, the best Cold Brew I've ever had, and their in house roasted beans are the best. This establishment has earned my frequent business. You can usually catch me there Saturday mornings with my little family, sipping on Cold Brew, and munching on their Biscuits and Gravy. On my way out I make sure to pick up a bag of beans for the week since I go to work before they open. Buckin' Bean is a family run business and have a kids play area for your little ones if they get restless. Kirby and Winston, you guys are the Best! Oh! Be sure to pick up a logo'd hat. This is a great local coffee shop that roasts their own coffee. Being in Pendleton, of course everything is western themed. We were passing through and needed a coffee pick-me-up and this hit the spot. My latte was great and my husband was able to get a medium roast that pleased his third wave coffee tendencies. We also picked up some beans to go and have really enjoyed those at home. Next time we pass through Pendleton we'll stop here for sure! read more

I love coming here! I used to schedule our team meetings here so we could enjoy coffee and breakfast. Their espresso is delicious. Their food is AMAZING! I've tried the scones (recommend raspberry white chocolate), biscuits and gravy (homemade like grandma used to make), oatmeal (not my favorite, but presentation is fun), and the cookies. The only downside is that they're not open early enough for me to stop by on my way to work. read more

Great locally roasted coffee. The dining area is deceptively large. There are several custom coffee blends available as well as a full menu. There's also a really nice playground directly across the street. Perfect for the kiddos to stretch their legs. If you have a dog, there is also a large grassy area adjacent to the park for them to run and play. Great coffee, still haven't tried the food, but plan to. read more

Stopped in with my mom for an afternoon caffeine fix. Unfortunately, the hype was way better than the coffee itself. The drip (which is what my mother had) wasn't horrible, but it wasn't that great either. I thought, for roasting their own beans, it would be WAY better. I ordered a White Chocolate Mocha, my standard, but only had a few sips. Way too sweet and really no body. Unfortunately, Starbucks wins out! read more

While I wasn't overly impressed with either, it seemed to be the best coffee shop in Pendleton and there were lots of regulars there. I also got an oatmeal bar to-go and that was tasty. We were staying down the street at the Pendleton House B&B and were walking back from town when we encountered a familiar smell, roasting coffee. We followed our nose up the street to this wonderful little coffee shop and surprised the owner who had just stepped outside. Chatted with him for a minute and then let him get back to work. My wife and I stopped by the next day and enjoyed a wonderful cup of coffee. We like to hunt out the best places to enjoy a cup wherever we go and this is one place we will definitely stop up the next time we're out this way. We're not coffee drinkers, but we stopped in to Buckin' Bean because we saw on Yelp that they have baked goods and great light meals for lunch in addition to excellent coffee. They were a little bit hard to spot at first because they're located in a residential area. Also, there's no parking on the street in front, but they do have a handy parking lot behind their shop. I had the cranberry turkey sandwich on a croissant and my friend had a bowl of minestrone soup. It was a perfect lunch for us. A clean, tidy dining area and the friendly folks working there made us feel welcome too. This was a pleasant stop during our visit to Pendleton. read more

Small Batch specialty coffee roaster and café. Our goal is to provide the best customer service around and always be consist. We focus on our customers needs and aim to satisfy each individual. Our coffee shop is in a great location across from a children's park, a great place to stop while traveling. Kids can run off some energy while parents fuel up on caffeine!! Along with fresh roasted coffee we also have homemade bake goods, and a small, but very savory lunch menu. Stop in you won't be disappointed.

History

Established in 2009.

In 2009 we purchased an existing coffee shop/ coffee roaster in Craig Alaska, on the Prince of Wales Island, in southeast Alaska. We operated Wheelhouse Coffee Roasters for 3 years, but shipping out of southeast Alaska was quite expensive. So after much thought and one child we decided to move back to Winston's home town of Pendleton Oregon. We opened Buckin' Bean Coffee Roasters in April of 2012.

Meet the Business Owner: Winston H.

I was born and raised in Pendleton Oregon. Grew up in a wheat ranching family, and spent most of my childhood, when not at school, working on the ranch. Graduated from Pendleton High School, went on to college and graduated with a degree in Political Science/History from LCSC. Team Roping, Steer Wrestling, and Skiing Consumed most of my life from college until my early 30's. My wife and I moved to Alaska to pursue new dreams, and that is where we purchased a coffee roasting business. After growing the business and having our first child we relocated the business to my hometown of Pendleton. We are three years in, plus another child, and we are going strong roasting coffee on the Oregon Trail.
